Maybe I’m just not a fan of Peet’s Coffee & Tea, or maybe I’m still upset that they replaced all their original teas with Mighty Leaf(Shouldn’t their name be shortened to «Peet’s Coffee» at this point?) but I have never really enjoyed anything I’ve gotten from Peet’s. So to some extent, this review is more for all Peet’s, this one just happens to be closest to where I live. Yesterday I noticed that this location had a check-in deal on Unilocal for their new coconut drinks. The photos of said coconut drinks, with swirling creamy-looking coconut in coffee or blended with a tea or in a Javiva, their sweet dessert-y blended beverage. The one time I tried a Javiva, I think it was a mocha, it was saccharine and artificial tasting and lacking in richness. Seeing their coconut drinks piqued my curiosity, because the almond milk coffees, lattes, etc., I’ve ordered with them in the past have never tasted very good. Their coffee is classically dark roast but is normally watery in my experience. Nothing fancy going on with their espresso, either. Because I hadn’t had much luck with their almond milk drinks(not sure what brand they used but it’s one of the«cardboard» tasting ones), the idea of a coconut milk-based beverage gave me hope. I went in yesterday to give it a shot, and was met with confusion by the barista when I tried to clarify that the coconut Javiva or solstice tea«did not have any dairy». He told me I could order a coconut latte without dairy but that the Javiva and solstice tea came with it. I asked him if it were dairy *powder* in the base of the mix or dairy in the form of actual milk(powdered dairy doesn’t usually upset my stomach but milk most certainly does). He had me wait so he could get a manager to consult with. When she, the manager, came out, she reiterated what he had just said, that the coconut Javiva and the solstice tea both came with a splash of milk, but that they could make it nonfat(which is not of much help to me). At this point I began to get severely confused. Why is dairy necessary when coconut milk is in the equation? And then it dawned on me. «Wait, so, is it a coconut MILK or SYRUP that is being added the the coconut drinks?» «Syrup,» they both answered. So I thanked them both and said nevermind to that experience. I may give them another shot at some point, but it’ll definitely never be my go-to place to get coffee or a drink.

Worst coffee I’ve had in San Francisco. Not sure if it was burnt over expressed, old or just all three. Avoid unless you’re the type to add large quantities of milk and sugar then, let’s be honest, you’re not really there for the coffee…

This is a nice little coffee shop. The seating is really limited. The coffee is always fresh though and it’s superb. They have a few pastries, including pumpkin bread. There is some outdoor seating, but it seems to be always taken. Also the bus stops right there. In the morning this place gets good sun.

Tasty! I come here quite a bit, and the coffee is almost always delicious. The employees are friendly and great at what they do. The line goes pretty fast even if it’s in the morning rush. Just beware though, it’s hard to find a place to sit here since they’re located in a small area. Aside from that, enjoy!

I’m not a coffee person but enjoy going into Peet’s for the bake goods! This actual Peet’s Coffee is a small location located in the heart of Cole Valley near Tom’s Restaurant, seating area inside is very limited. It’s more of «you get your coffee or tea and go». They do have outside seating of three tables and 5 chairs outside. The staff here is very friendly and service is quick here. Located inside is also a bathroom which is very clean. The food and bakeries are also well stocked with many different options. Although there is a Café Reverie across the street, Stanza a short waling distance and La Boulange down the block I have no concerns that Peet’s is standing there ground at this location and there is no competition. Peet’s definitely complements the Cole Valley area!

I’ve always liked this Peet’s, where service is friendly and competent, but this morning when I ordered my usual decaf latte, I was clearly given a fully caffeinated one. I’m always annoyingly careful because non-decaf coffee makes me sick, but the barrista said«decaf latte» when he handed it to me, so what else can you do? I’ve been jittery, nauseous, and unable to focus all day. I won’t be ordering coffees from this location anymore, and will go back to my old rule of only ordering coffee when I can see that the barrista is using decaf. It was probably a sound rule anyway. The coffee shop is often busy and mistakes are easy to make, and the consequences for some of us are significant.

The baristas were friendly and fast. I got a small drop because I never had Peet’s coffee, and upon hearing that they wanted me to sample the iced coffee. They look like they enjoy what they do, making the guests feel more welcomed. The coffee is delicious. The store is small, but the outside seating is cozy, and you can people watch while you drink your coffee. :)

Mmmm. In a neighborhood full of coffee places, this is my go-to spot when I just need a damn good cup of coffee.

This was exactly what I need every Monday morning as I wait for my friend. The staff is really really sweet and the bathroom is clean and well stocked. I will definitely continue coming back here in the morning every week.

Peet’s, you complete me. I can’t live without you, especially your Cole Valley location. All the baristas are so friendly. They know my order. They know my name. They know when I am working or not. Peet’s, you are the difference between a bad morning and a great morning.

Extraordinarily nice people on top of all the usual Pete’s goodness. I have seen the staff here deal with unusual people and unusual orders with a tremendous amount of kindness, creativity and grace.

I love Peet’s(5 star coffee… Especially Major Dickason’s blend). Yes I would consider myself a Peetnik. I’ve been here 3 times. The place is clean, the staff friendly, the bathrooms clean. I docked a star because 2⁄3 times they got my order wrong. I always get an iced whole milk caramel latte. Once they forgot the caramel. Once they used caramel syrup instead of sauce. This is very unlike Peet’s stores. I have been to the Fillmore Peet’s probably about 100 times. And they have never gotten my order wrong. Not even once. I am attributing this to bad luck because most(or all) of the employees here have worked at multiple Peet’s stores. Alas, I will keep coming back! Maybe they will increase my accuracy and I shall award the final star! Thanks for delicious coffee Peet’s!

Best coffee in Cole Valley. Chairs outside. Friendly staff. It’s kind of small and awkward seating inside, so this is mostly a place to grab coffee and go. But they have nice chairs and tables outside so you can have a nice view of whatever delivery truck is parked in front ;) LIfe in the city; it’s still nice.

I came in the other day and ordered a standard tall decaf drip. It was decently strong. Not quite there yet, but better than last time. You get one star back, Cole Valley Peet’s. You’ll get another when it’s Peet-strong.

Brand new spot in the neighborhood. Wi-fi-yes of course! Coffee-yup. Pastries-here too. Place is small & perfect to catch up & finish some work ‚) Coming back often, especially because some of the surrounding cafés don’t have wi-fi for guests. made my day ‚) Cheers.

Just opened in Cole Valley today! Very small and cozy atmosphere with friendly service. Though I imagine it to be hard to find an empty seat. But if you’re down to order to-go, this is the place to stop by. It’s Peet’s– can’t complain about the quality and reliability of the coffee.

Peet’s, welcome to Cole Valley! Peet’s opened today in the former Tully’s spot — it’s a vast improvement in my opinion. Service on day one was fast and friendly, and the store was stocked with my favorite Peet’s treats except for the spinach empanada.(Peet’s, if you’re reading this, the spinach empanada is the only savory item on your menu. Please offer it here and I promise to buy it regularly.) With Café Reverie across the street, La Boulange down the block, and Stanza a short walk away, Peet’s complements a strong lineup of coffee spots in and around Cole Valley. Each spot offers something different, and Peet’s adds rich, robust, and flavorful coffee paired with free WiFi. Prior to opening up, Peet’s renovated and reconfigured the layout, and the store feels more spacious than it appears from the exterior.
