Came here for a Warriors game on a Thursday and it was absolutely jam packed at 5:30pm(game was at 6) — not surprising. What was surprising was the stark contrast between the different waitresses serving people. Some of them were absolutely amazing — friendly, attentive(as one can be when serving 50 people at once) and had a smile on their faces the whole time. Others were visibly frazzled and looked like teenagers at their first after school jobs. Anyway, we ordered a bunch of drinks and food, and the drinks always came out in a timely fashion. The food came at staggered times, which was disappointing for the person who ordered 45 minutes before everyone else and got her food later. I got a cobb salad which was pretty good, friends got fish tacos and chicken sandwiches which were pretty good as well. Overall, a good place to go to watch games — just try to avoid on the busiest nights.

Calling what they serve food would be a compliment. It took an hour to get the food and three dishes were uneatable.

I had my 30th Birthday party here last night, all I can say is that it was amazing night. The staff our phenomenal the bar tender was beyond amazing and the owner Danielle is a fantastic host no task is to big or two small. So if your looking for a venue for your party the patriot house is perfect venue. And if your around that way on Saturday night pop in and see the bartender he perfect cocktails and is great company with few laughs. All in all I would highly recommend here

The Bartender was really friendly, she gave us free samples to try of the beers and some fish tacos on the house. We are just in town for the weekend, but I would return on future trips to SF. It was a Saturday afternoon though and the place was empty. It’s upstairs in a mall in the financial district where a lot of the shops are closed. Some lively music would help.

This review is for our server Amy from the Patriot House and the experience in general. Our party was very well serviced during the after work rush. The bar bites were great, the wine drinkers were happy and we appreciated the beer selection. There was a Warriors game on and the place was packed wall to wall with people. We had a party of 20 people and Amy was dazzling with her attentiveness and excellent service. It was a very busy atmosphere. Amy even remembered our food modifications to the wings — extra crispy with the wing sauce on the side. Our company was hosting the gathering. For us to receive excellent service from the chosen venue makes a world of difference with our clients in attendance. Thank-you to Amy, her busser and the excellent Patriot House team. We will be back.

Came in for a quick lunch, sat at the bar and ordered the half turkey breast sando with side chili and a Racer 5. Really good, also came with chopped onions and delightful cranberry dressing. Waitress with the brogue was friendly and attentive and I was back at my desk within the hour. Will stop back when it’s happy hour. Shouldn’t be surprised to pay $ 6.50 for a draught beer in SF but it gets me every time.

Highly recomended! I am a huge Bar rescue fan,(seen every episode) and was super excited to check this place out! Was very happy great drinks, did not try the food but looked really good seeing what other people ordered Not a suit and tie guy(probably the normal crowd) but felt at home highly recommended!

Pretty fast service and an above average Reuben sandwich. See other reviews bitching about high prices but what do you expect in San Francisco where your supes add health surcharges, fair wage minimums and all sort of privilege to do business in SF taxes. Guess who pays?

We stopped here for our monthly group happy hour. The joke was on me, though, for showing up at 6 — which is exactly when Happy Hour ends. Remember the good ol’ days, when the purpose of Happy Hour was to lure working folks in to throw back a couple of beers on a regular basis? How am I going to merrily skip down the road to alcoholism if I don’t get out of work early enough for discounted yet still overpriced draft beers? Guess I have to quit my job. Regular-price draft beers are $ 6.50 a pint — that said, the Drake’s Hef was really, really good. The purportedly«hand-cut fries»($ 5) more closely resemble Mc-D’s, and probably came out of a similar bag. They come with a side of ranch and ketchup, and generally made me kind of hate myself. I’d pass on these in the future. The redeemer of the evening were the Nachos($ 8, no meat) — the cheese sauce was strange, but the house-made hot sauce was a great add. The size was big enough to share reasonably between two people. If I ever find myself here again, I’ll definitely stick to those. Our server was incredibly harried — she seemed to be the only person serving and bussing the entire restaurant, and I have no idea why. We had to flag her down for pretty much everything — beers, food, the other person’s food, the check — because she kept dashing off after we’d only gotten two words out of our mouths. The last straw was our asking her to take a quick picture of the group — I’ve met people who clean up roadkill who seems to enjoy their work more. The décor was pretty dingy, and there was what appeared to be orphaned toddler who kept running up to our table. She was barefoot and rolling around on the carpet underneath the bar. It was all very bizarre. I’ve heard this place was on Bar Rescue — I don’t know what that is, but someone really needs to bust out the defibrillator on this place. On to the next!

I stopped in for happy hour for a late lunch and a cold beverage. I was actually looking for the Holding Company which was the original name of the business. The original owners retired and sold the business to a family of Irish sisters who struggled at first. During the transition time the business suffered. The restaurant/bar is located in the heart of the financial district of San Francisco. The bar is located in one of the business complexs. So don’t feel like you’re lost. Just ask one of the local businesses and they will point you in the right direction. The sisters reached out to a leading bar owner and restaurateur who has a show called Bar Rescue. I must say that the Irish sisters who have really turned the place around. The bar service, new name, new menu items and remodel is a total hit. The bar is one of the most beautiful bars I have seen in a long time. If you’re from out of town and looking for a great bar with an interesting twist, great beverages then make the trip. The deviled eggs are excellent.

Back in the day, I was a regular at the Holding Company. Two years later, I stopped in to what is now called, Patriot House. The store looks the same, with changes to art work on the wall. I had heard the show, «Bar Rescue,» came to redo the place. Patriot House need to ask for a refund. In essence the same bar since 1974. The bartender was very nice and helpful. The shots are fare, not a long pour, not a short pour. I had the Fish Tacos, which smelled fishy, but were OK. The store was kinda empty, odd for 6:00PM. Hipsters on mobile phones replaced the old«Cheers» crowd. Maybe I’m just mistful of the bye gone days of the Holding Company, but if in the neighborhood, I might not stop in again.

The food is tasty and the service is always good. I particularly love«The California» and their habanero ranch is to die for! I would definitely recommend this as a place to eat in the financial district.

Great place to watch all the games. TVs everywhere! Just brought the kids for lunch after visiting Super Bowl 50 city. Caught the Warriors on the big screen, kids enjoyed their burgers and Mac and cheese. Myself and wife had the awesome wings, and pizza. Overall a great find, and decent prices for the financial district. Oh and great fast service.

I’ve been here a few times. Honestly, the food and service can be better; I have yet to eat a meal that blows my mind and the waitresses could use some training. I only come here because of the convenience — I work in the building. If you can pass and go somewhere else, I’d suggest you do so.

I don’t understand why the food here is so bad. It isn’t even complicated stuff. BLTs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads. Its just above home cooking and yet, it tastes terrible. They are not even trying to do anything fancy like having a «house aioli» or «artisan pickles» or the usual stuff you see now on pub food. It’s basically just crappy food that is probably prepared elsewhere and warmed here. Beer selection is good and they have a lot of TVs for sports. Thus, they earn some stars. Otherwise, if you are hungry, eat at Oasis Grill, then come drink here.

Came here with a large group from work. Perfect bar setting with very good bar food options. I called ahead to see if they would be able to seat us(was during the baseball playoffs). Not only did they say they had room, unbeknownst to me, they went ahead and reserved tables for our large group without me even asking. We mostly had burgers and appetizers. They were all outstanding. Nice servers, too. I’d go back

Wife had a chicken salad. The chicken was dry. The salad balsamic was flavorless. I had the California chicken sandwich, it was good but the house chips were stale. Mom had the shrimp, it was overcooked. Won’t go back to this place.

This place was near my hotel, so I stopped in for a beer and food. Got a breakfast dish that was good, and one of my favorite IPAs. Lots of games on tv which was good. Staff was ok. Overall just an ok experience.

I heard about Patriot House from the Bar Rescue episode but I’ve never had a chance to come here. One day after work, all of the local bars were all full. When we got here, the place was full but not too full. There was some seating inside and there were plenty of TV’s everywhere to watch the games that were playing that night. Ironically, a bunch of Dartmouth alums were watching a Dartmouth college football game that was playing on the other side of the bar. It got pretty loud over there. We each ordered their $ 7 special strawberry margaritas, fresh strawberries as our waitress promised, not made from syrup. By the time it got to us, I tasted it and it was definitely not syrupy. It also wasn’t that sweet but they did use real strawberries. We also got an order of sweet potato fries which were fried and cooked decently. After two rounds of drinks and watching the first quarter of the Warriors game, we closed out our bill and headed out. Overall a great experience here during Friday happy hour and will come back if I felt like walking from SOMA to here.

Food: Average + for SF(being a little generous) Service: Behind the Bar: Great(for most of the regular tenders: Friendly, efficient, attentive, decent mixes) Ambience: Nice(a little dark inside; bar is Fab) Let’s see if PH can continue to improve Addendum: they have some pretty great lunch/dinner specials during the weekdays that change daily! Owners getting into the groove more. SUGGESTION: Change up wine list from time to time please

I’ll make this short and sweet: Great, unique, creative food ideas that are executed well and burst with flavor. Comfy environment that is clean and relaxing and(if you’re on the patio) scenic. Friendly and fun servers and staff that seem like they’ve been your friend for 12 years. Prices about average for this type of place in this area. Definitely a go to for lunch or happy hour or if you have family in from out of town.

Patriot house was a very gracious host to a Paintnite event(10÷3÷15) that turned quite disastrous toward the end. First I will say, if you are looking for a good sports bar on the inside, then this is a great place to come. My friend and I ordered the special of 5 dollor Mimosas and some garlic fries which were pretty tasty. If your a woman who enjoys the company of single men, then you will definitely get hit on there. Back to the other side of this story… If you are sitting on the patio, which typically can get very windy and cold. Then add a painting event to it with 25+ people, then this is not the spot you want to be in. I’m talking broken glass every where, furniture flying, teeth chattering, tornado/hurricane style winds came upon us. Needless to say paintnite had to be rescheduled! All in all funny experience to share… but I won’t be coming back to sit on the patio.

Stopped in for a quick drink. I got the Sunday Whiskey, it was good. My friend got the Grant’s Elixir, it was on the sweet side but still yummy. I loved the décor and the place was surprisingly bigger than I expected. I’d definitely come back, good place to watch sports.

Awesome location right by the Embarcadero and our super weekend parking garage($ 7all day Golden Gateway Garage) so it was easy to find and will be easy to keep coming back !! We came especially for a late lunch/happy hour because we had seen it on one of our favorite shows Bar Rescue and it looked great !! We were not disappointed ! We even got to meet & be served by an Owner, Danielle who we saw on the show ! We ordered the special cocktail of the day which was a delicious bourbon version of a Moscow Mule. Yummy !!! Everything sounded so good but we decided on the BLT. A classic and our fave sandwich. It was very good. The fries were sooooo good, even the ranch dressing was better than the average !! There are several things we are looking forward to coming back to try !!(Happy hour smashed taters — mmmm)

I believe this place used to be Holding Company(best guess) so was surprised when they closed shop and Patriot House took over. The layout appears to be the same as before with no real changes to décor but the menu was entirely revamped. I decided to go for a very standard burger just to see how they would do. In a nutshell, the burger needed more salt and fell flat. Fries were good and was pleased with them. Overall Thoughts I might come back to check out HH in the future but for a burger I rather go to Super Duper.

After seeing this episode on Bar Rescue had to make my way into San Francisco today to try a Taft Crowd Pleaser and a Corn Beef Reuben. Greeted my Natalie Browne I was blown away with this Re-Branding. The previous bar Holding Company was old school and the implemented change brought a whole new light to this business. Cocktails were on point. Food was delicious. My significant other got the Patty Melt, I got the Corn Beef Reuben and we swapped a half for a half… Delicious. Incredible flavor, texture, juicy and yummy. We got grade A service. We moved to the bar after lunch and were treated amazing by Camille the AM bartender. We had a great time. Oh the Kale Salad. Highly recommended. Thank you Patriot House.

FIDILUNCHHOUR Came here for lunch and the place had people but was not packed at all. Usual lunch crowd: FIDI business men. Seat your self service. Upon seating the service was kind of slow. At some point I felt forgotten. The table next to me saw me constantly looking over my shoulder to see where i can get service and once the waitress arrived at their table they were generous to say«she would like to order something»(thanks strangers for noticing). The dinner menu looks more enticing than the lunch menu. Lunch menu has selection but nothing caught my eye. On Unilocal this place is categorized as «gastropub» but there was nothing gastropub about the place. Subtract the«gastro» as it was just typical American pub food. At the end of my meal I had waited about 15 – 20 minutes to get my bill. Again… Forgotten. I had to get up and search for someone to tab me out. After mentioning the wait they subtracted 50% off my bill for the inconvenience. That was kind of the manager and I respect that. The food. ½ SANDWICHANDSOUP — Friday’s I can’t eat me for religious catholic reasons so It was basically the turkey sandwich minus the turkey and in replacement was avocado. Typical sandwich. Ordered the minestrone soup, that was delicious. It was cup sizes and wish I had more. Very tasty and packed with vegetables. That small flavorful cup of soup was the highlight of my lunch. Will I be back? Maybe. Until the next review…

The place looks amazing, but it was fairly difficult to find. No signs anywhere. It’s above a Pizza Orgasmico. The signature cocktails were good, but pricy. OK, I understand, Bar Rescue jacked up the prices a bit. They were out of the burger. The sliders though were way too small. Unacceptable to have 2 sliders and no condiments on them that I could remember. The wings were good, it’s pretty hard to screw up wings. They had a choice in hotness level. The wait staff was pretty friendly. I think I may come back. They have a lot of TVs and a private bar area in the back that you could rent out. I’m never really around this area though. The Bar rescue episode just aired last night. I think their systems have been implemented because I didn’t have any issues.

I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy A Yankee Doodle, do or die A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam Born on the Fourth of July I’ve got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart She’s my Yankee Doodle joy Yankee Doodle came to London Just to ride the ponies I am the Yankee Doodle Boy… Wait a second, let me finish my tap dance and light up my red, white & blue sparklers. OK, now get me a chair ’cause my dogs are tired from all that tap dancing(…I was good, wasn’t I?). Did you know the Holding Company had been in the same space on the third floor of Two Embarcadero Center for over forty years? I’ve been coming here off-and-on for at least thirty of them since it was THE place to get a burger and a beer during the Reagan years when I would come here with fellow lemmings working for slave wages at an ad agency. And you thought«12 Years a Slave» was rough going? I won’t show you the lashes to my ego. Anyhow, the original owner finally retired last year selling to four young Irish lasses, the Brown sisters from Dublin. I don’t think they’re a Riverdance troupe, but they could be, bonny lasses that they are and also hard-working. Jamie W. and I tried the Holding Company under their management, and they definitely made improvements to the menu. Now I see they’ve rebranded themselves thanks to a Spike TV program called«Bar Rescue». We tried it tonight, and the refresh appears to be working, at least during Happy Hour as it was packed. The food menu doesn’t look hugely changed except the presidential names(photo: ). Cute touch but I felt like I was taking an exam and I wasn’t passing. Except gas maybe. I tried going healthy and did pretty well. I started with their vegetarian soup, the $ 6.95 Millard Fillmore’s Minestrone. It was stocked full of goodness — kidney beans, died tomatoes, zucchini, a little pasta. Some haphazard croutons with Parmesan were thrown on top(photo: ). Decent no-frills soup. Just wish it was a little thicker from stewing in the pot. I followed that up with the $ 10.95 John Quincy Adams’ Peacefield Farm Salad, which was quite a good kale salad with radishes, endive, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, tarragon and vinaigrette(photo: ). It was fresh and not too lacquered though I think I may ask for the dressing on the side next time. Jamie went more for pub grub and ordered the $ 10.95 The Patriot’s Original Pizza with Pepperoni and Italian Sausage on top for an extra $ 2(photo: ). What can I say? It was bar pizza. No complaints but not an artful creation either. He also had the $ 7.95 Nachos which sadly had no President associated with it. Richard Nixon comes to mind though. Tricky Dick. It was a plate of tortilla chips with black beans and cheese sauce which just had to be Cheez Whiz, c’mon(photo: ). Jamie was asked if he wanted meat on it but understandably perturbed to find out on the check that it was $ 3 extra. Divulge upfront please. Our Diet Pepsi’s were refilled without provocation though, so there was joy to be found there. But I have to say even with the Presidential portraits and American flags, it really didn’t feel that different in the space. The wrap-around bar, the dark woods, the mirrored panels and the significant douche factor were all present and accounted for. FOOD — 3 stars… pub grub was still middling though the kale salad was a nice addition with a fresh taste AMBIANCE — 3 stars… still feels like the Holding Company, which is fine with me since I didn’t have complaints before SERVICE — 3.5 stars… pretty good and attentive despite the extra meat gaffe on the nachos TOTAL — 3 stars… and I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free… hey wait, are we in Philly? Boston maybe?
