Nice BIG Bahn Mi sandwich. Lots of everything. Pork was very good. They were out of French bread, but the chibata roll was good and fresh. Love looking for hidden treasures in SF and this is one!

It’s a hole in the wall since in the back part of cool tea bar. I ordered the BBQ pork and chicken Vietnamese sandwich and I was pretty satisfied! Pretty generous with the meat, big portions. I was only able to finish half! But then again, I eat small portions. Located in the fidi area and very convenient if you want some milk tea to go with your meal. Would come again!

2.5 stars. The roasted pork banh mi is very bland. When eating it, I felt like I was eating at a slightly improved subway sandwich: better bread, more meat(but similar taste). The radish and carrots, couldn’t really taste them. The bbq pork was very bland too. It was the worst tasting banh mi I’ve had in California. Unless you are DYING for banh mi and stuck in the area, I don’t advise going here. Nothing special.

Staff friendly. Service fast. Pastrami sandwich huge, warm, delicious, and the right price. Warning: Spicy pastrami is for the professionals. Totally DELISH but my eyes and nose leaked while sweat streamed off my scalp and I would’ve given my first child for a carton of milk. Heartiest sandwich in the financial district. Delicious!

I was at downtown for work and saw the review, so gave it a try. A disappointing experience. I got the«signature» spicy pastrami sandwich on the Dutch bread, their most popular combo. The price was good(7.5 for the sandwich and upgrade to a combo with a soda and chips for 1.99 more), but that’s about it. My home base is in L.A., and if you are ever in the LA area YOUWILL know The Hat and Langer’s if you like pastrami. Pastrami is supposed to be served hot, and the juiciness is what makes them so tasty. The bread should be soaked with the pastrami juice, but not so much that it doesn’t hold the content between them. Of course that’s just what I think. THEMEAT: Pastrami is rubbery and lacks juiciness. The spiciness overwhelmed the meatiness and the excessive black pepper left my mouth numb. The meat was very chewy. The cut of the meat had a lot of tendons so it did not have the«melt in your mouth» feel. THESPREAD: Red chili spread… adding more hotness to the sandwich. Like I’ve said… the hotness was over powering. THEBREAD: I expected crunchiness, and lots of it since the person told me that it will be very crunchy. But I still tasted the staleness of the bread. THEVEGS: Veggies include lettuces, tomatoes and Jalapenos. Again with the hotness… and the cheese was not melted!!! hehe. In my opinion this sandwich could’ve been better. service and everything else was good though. I think the ame-viet fusion style is not my thing. Will stick to traditional bahn mi and American sandwiches.(SHOTOUTTOLEE’S SANDWICHANDLANGER’S, LAINDAHOUSEWOOTWOOT!) hahahahaahaha.

Very disappointed with my Vietnamese sandwich. It was very salty and once i took my first bite, all the carrot and radish rolled out. the person also cut my sandwich not in half but more like 30⁄70. Luckily I wasnt sharing mine with someone. i like the Vietnamese sandwich at Morning Brew better. taste more authentic.

Nice little sandwich place. I got Lemon Grass Tofu Veggi(with Avocado) Sandwich on Ciabatta and it was delicious. The portion is good enough for lunch. I paid $ 6.50 which I feel like a discounted price for lunch in this area. One of the best fresh sandwich place in the area. They also have great drinks at the entrance of the place. Multiple options to select from. If you are vegetarian, you should try their lemon grass tofu sandwich.

First of all, in case you’re confused, this is located INSIDE of Cool Tea Bar, and is not in a separate location. Now that that’s out of the way, this place serves some good sandwiches at good prices(7 dollars) in FIDI. I’ve tried the Spicy Pastrami and the Cranberry Turkey. The Spicy Pastrami is filled with tons of pastrami, House made spicy sauce, jalapenos, cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickles and onions. The cranberry turkey is filled with a good amount of turkey, Cranberry sauce, cheese, tomato, avocado, lettuce, dijon, mayo. These are pretty big sandwiches and you can choose what kind of cheese and bread you want for your sandwich(Go with Dutch Crunch DUH). The Dutch Crunch just goes so well with the juiciness of the pastrami and the jalapenos give it a nice kick. You can then wash it all down with a boba drink from Cool Tea Bar. So if you’re working in the area, you should add this place as one of your regular lunch spots. I also recommend calling in your order to beat ocasionally lone lines during lunch hours.

Get the half chicken and half pork bahn mi. You won’t regret it! For under $ 8 in the FiDi, this sandwich is a steal. The meat is so tender and seasoned nicely(a little on the greasy side I admit but that makes it so delicious), the pickled vegetables add great acidity, and the bread is always crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s tucked behind cool tea bar and it can get a little busy during lunch time but it’s worth the wait. This is one of my favorite sandwiches in the city hands-down!

I was depressed about my office moving from SOMA to fidi after being in our old building for years but thanks to MunchBoxx I can be a happy, fed girl again. Had the half chicken half roast pork Bahn Mi and it was amazing!!! Bread was delicious, meat was moist. Asked for extra pâté and chef was happy to accommodate. Added some srricha and sweet/spicy chili sauce and the sandwich was perfection. Will definitely be back to try the Basille

This review is for their catering. When I initially called to make my order, the lady who I spoke to said that they don’t take orders until after 2? Not sure what the deal was, but another gentleman called me back shortly and took my order. I was ordering lunch for a fairly large group and decided to opt for their sandwich, salad and fruit platters. Their catering prices are pretty fair in comparison to other places in downtown SF. Each sandwich platter had six sandwiches cut into three pieces. You can mix and match the sandwiches. They offer Vietnamese and American style deli sandwiches. If you’re looking for real Banh Mi, look elsewhere. The sandwiches tasted great with plenty of meat, but nothing exceptional. I liked their Dutch crunch bread and prefer it over baguette. I also ordered their strawberry salad with chicken. The strawberries were cut so thin and the salad started wilting later in the day. Also, the chicken looked really processed. Everyone seemed to enjoy the sandwiches, but the salad was barely touched. Service was great and delivery was prompt.

The spicy pastrami, while not for the faint of heart, is sooo yummy. I added avocado and then picked the jalapenos off my second half because I was scared of destroying my face. I’m a total wimp with spicy food and my skin will actually physically react to it so I have to be sort of careful, it can actually be very painful for me :(but I do ENJOY spicy food so it’s a balancing act. This sandwich has a chili aioli on it, you can see the pieces of chili skin in it, it’s really bomb but has some considerable heat. Where the real heat comes in though is the thin slices of fresh jalapeño that are packed into this sandwich, I think there was almost a whole jalapeño in mine even though they are really thin slices! The flavor is so good, I loved it, but it is REALLY spicy. I would recommend if you cannot tolerate a lot of heat to say light or no jalapeño, the sandwich would still be spicy and still really yummy. Or, what I did was just take the slices out on the second half so the sandwich still had residual heat and flavor. The man making the sandwiches was very nice and quick. I also liked how careful he was to wear plastic gloves while making my sandwich, then take them off to answer the phone or take care of any non-food-prepping tasks. This place is bare bones, as others have said, and the appearance does not make you think you are about to get a really great sandwich. The place does not look pristine either, not that it looks dirty, it just does not look like a kitchen or a restaurant, it looks like it could be a kinko’s or something but they set up a food-prepping counter. If I had not looked it up on Unilocal,I never would have tried it so I want to urge everybody who reads this to look past the appearance of the spot [and possibly suggest the owners do a little primping too :) ]

I think it’s a decent place to grab a sandwich in FiDi. I really love bahn mi so I was looking forward to trying MunchBoxx but I was a little disappointed. The price is decent — around $ 6 for a good size — for FiDi area it’s a bargain. The sandwich itself was just mediocre. The bread was not a real baguette, the pickled veggies were a little too… tart and didn’t meld well with the meat. I got the combination ham and the ham they used was basically the cheap deli kind you can get from Safeway. I would say skip if you want a real bahn mi. Also, they do have Cool Tea Bar inside but the quality is lacking from the real Cool Tea Bar boba in Chinatown/North Beach area.

Thanks Unilocal!I drove into the city on a nice sunny day to meet my wife up for lunch at a nearby park. We stopped in at MunchBoxx and grabbed two sandwiches for the road:(1) Ham,(1) ½ and ½ — Chicken and pork. At $ 6 a sandwich, I can’t remember the last time I was so satisfied. If I had to do it again, I’d stick to the ½ and ½ — the meats were amazing. Crunchy pickled veg, great spices, a nice heat from the jalapenos, cilantro… hell’s yes. Bottom line, great sandwiches, great value, and friendly staff. Do yourself a favor and grab a quick lunch at this tasty spot.

I hardly ever have cash on me. So when searching the area, taking credit cards was a huge factor. I was in the mood for just a sandwich and thanks to Unilocal,it led me here. This place is a small shop in the financial district. Nothing fancy, just a few tables if you’d like to eat inside. There’s also tea drinks being sold in here. I opted for a roast beef in Dutch crunch. Plenty of meat. Only thing that I felt was missing was mustard. Overall, good sandwich. And because I know Dutch crunch can leave the roof of my mouth sore, I ate the sandwich upside down.(Silly, I know!) It’s the little things!

Dear MunchBoxx, I really like you I do. But recently I bit into one of your sandwiches and started chewing and realized I bit into a piece of plastic from some sort of packaging. I have a photo if you really want to see where it came from but I think I am done and can’t recommend you to my friends. Sorry :(

Order online to maximize ordering process efficiency! I prefer Eat24 app and website, but that’s just a personal preference. Today I scarfed down the Vietnamese-style vegetarian and it was nothing short of wonderful! The bread is soft, chewy, and just the right amount of crusty on the outside. The sandwich is packed with daikon, lettuce, and avocado. This was much better than the Vietnamese-style chicken sandwich I devoured last week because the vegetarian sandwich eliminates the fatty and rubbery chicken I experienced. The bread here is excellent– it’s worth every carb! chips and a soda can be added to any sandwich for only $ 1.99

Another good lunch option! I was in San Fran FiDi for work and found this interesting lunch spot. I decided to have the Lemongrass tofu, with extra avocado, and jalapeños. The bread was amazing and the sandwich delightful. The pickled onions and carrots added tang and crunch. The jalapeños a pleasant kick. Place itself is small and unassuming. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Came here because I was grabbing a Cool Tea Bar drink. Ordered a ½ pork ½ chicken with no jalapenos and cilantro. The sandwich was pretty big. Inside lots of veges. Meat was an ok amount(I need more meat!!!). Taste was really good. The meat was not barbecue burnt. Cooked really well. Tender and flavorful. Definitely can taste the pâté. Bread was like a toasted subway sandwich. About 8 – 9 inches long(that’s not what she said) Overall, good sandwich :). Service was nice, place is decently clean, prices are reasonable. $ 5-$ 7. Will come back to try their Dutch crunch sandwiches!!! :)
