Mission: Cats

We recently boarded our cats at Mission Cats for two weeks in a study room. Having never boarded our cats before, we were very worried that they would have a nervous breakdown or go on a hunger strike. Instead our cats adjusted quickly, no doubt due to the excellent care and attention from the Mission Cats staff. I really appreciated having the option to watch them via the web cam and when I would call Mission Cats for updates, the staff was very friendly and didn’t treat my calls as a nuisance. We would highly recommend Mission Cats and will board our cats there in the future.

ONE OF OUR CATS DIED as a result of Mission Cats negligence while «pet sitting.» Our cat who needed pills every day received not one pill and all of the pills were still sitting on the plate on our counter when we returned from a 9 day vacation. She was half her normal weight and could barely walk.
We had left specific written instructions for Mission Cats (on their forms) and paid extra for pill service, even spoke to them on the phone during the «sit» week, where they said glowing things and didn’t mention any issues. We spent 3 days trying to save her with IV, vet visits and by trying to get her to drink water. Finally, our vet said there was no hope, when she couldn’t stand up and started showing neurological symptoms and we had to put her down. It broke our family’s hearts after spending so many years making sure she had a wonderful life.
Our other cat was limping and was ²⁄₃ the weight she was when we left her. Our other 2 cats seemed okay but were also much thinner. All of the water bowls were dry.
When we called Mission Cats to let them know, they were VERY apologetic and said they couldn’t find the pills so gave her cat treats instead (???).
We used this company based on other’s reviews, but Mission Cats was totally negligent and I feel that others should know that this is not a reliable company for your loved kitties.
I hope this review makes you think twice. I know we can never bring our sweet little kitty back, but I hope others don’t make the same mistake we did. Please please find another cat sitter.

I had to go out of town last minute and mission cats was so accommodating. They took in my 19 year old tabby and kept her lover and nurtured while I was away. I was sent images every other day of her lying in the sun and hanging out around the office. While she was there, they even trimmed her nails and gave her a dry shampoo which was so nice. I would highly recommend this place as I took some time to walk around and understand their process and scope out the facility. The people working there seem to be really in love with cats and authentically interested in their well being. I communicated with Mary mostly and she was very professional get down to earth and friendly.

We have known about Mission Cats since they opened a few years ago, but only recently needed someone to take care of our cat Thumper for a few days.
The staff at Mission Cats was great, they left us at ease when we dropped him off and they sent daily emails with pictures. This place is extremely clean and well kept, The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I couldn’t have asked for better care for my cat.
I would highly recommended Mission Cats and will no doubt use their services in the future.

I have brought my cat to Mission Cats for almost a year. The first couple of visits for my cat went well. The last two visits were unacceptable. My cat has a urinary tract condition that requires special canned food (which I provide in abundance). He is fed half a can, twice a day. Pretty simple.
The last two visits: my cat was not fed properly. A full can was provided to him at one time. The problem is: he eats it quickly, in its entirety, and then becomes sick.
On the second occasion: I picked up the cat a day early. His age was a mess. There was cat poop all over, and more poor cat smelled of urine.
AND — the person behind the counter mentioned that they ran out of cat food. (I have provide more than enough.) She asked if it was ok if he was fed other food. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I left specific instructions — plus, they had my cell phone number and email address in order to reach me (regarding his food).
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TAKE YOUR CATS ELSEWHERE until they get their act together.
(By the way, when I picked up my cat he seemed desperate to get out of there… like never before It broke my heart.)

I had a great experience a while back, but it does seem like there is a change. The cameras use to be 24hrs, don’t know why that stopped.

I was going out of town for about 24 hours and my regular cat sitter was unfortunately out of town and the second person who I usually board with had a cat boarding already.
Mission Cats had room so I brought my 1 yr, 9 month Sweetheart here on a Sunday at 6:45 p.m. I brought her blankie, toys and two days of food just in case I didn’t make it to pick her up the following day before 7 p.m., which was their closing time. I put Sweetheart in the Aquatic room, which is a large room with another loft inside it. There is a webcam in the room so I could peek at Sweetheart in the Aquatic room online while I was away. I noticed the next day on the webcam that sweetheart was perched on top of the loft (where a big fuzzy older cat was residing) in the corner and not eating or really moving around. I was worried, so I called and asked to talk to Sweetheart over the phone to reassure her, she was scared and it had been about 18 hrs and she apparently hadn’t moved off the corner! I was not able to speak to Sweetheart, but the Monday worker told me he went in there and put food up by her and she kind of picked at it. When I came back to pick her up at 6:15 p.m. The next day, I was unpleasantly surprised to find the staff had not fed her the food I had brought and given her their food. It wasn’t bad food, but it was unfamiliar.
They also informed me I was being charged a full extra day because I picked up my pet after 3 p. m!!! So even though my cat was there less than 24 full hours, I paid for 48 hrs stay!!! If a Hotel did this they would get so many complaints!!! THIS PLACE IS TOO EXPENSIVE AND WAS NOT ATTENTIVE TO MY CAT!!! They board too many cats here and the one person watching all the cats can’t stay on top of it all.

I love this place & the people from Mission cats too, I had an emergency situation, I left my two babies in there, they get very upset the first day, because they never been out,
I passed every day to visit them & people there are really nice & clean they enjoyed every toys in their private room,& also I can see them by camera from 8 am to 7 pm I think, I had no idea this place exist until that day, God bless to Maurice & the sweet angel girl who work in there I Rec.100% this place. I moved out of my condo around the Christmas holidays and panicked where to put my two cats. I was referrred to this place and couldn’t have been happier when I received daily positive feedback. They would send me daily photo updates as well as daily feedback about my babies constantly telling what they werre doing and how well they were adjusting. I even stoppped by a few times and saw for myself how well they had adjusted as I had to board them for two weeks at different times. I would highly recommend this place again and the staff was exceptionally wonderful!!!

I am very glad Mission: Cats exists. They have a caring and helpful staff who are great about making sure your cats are looked after and treated well. Email updates are the best and folks remember your cat (s) if they have had previous stays. My cats are also geriatric, require medication and a little more handling & have always seemed to enjoy their stay. Thanks!

I can highly recommend Mission: Cats. I have used the in-​home cares several times and it was great. They sent me daily photos and feedbacks about our cat. They are very friendly and they do a great job.

I have used Mission: Cats for the past few years for in-​home feeding while we go on vacation. The process of setting up the appointment is always easy and the staff very friendly. They come into my home once a day while I am gone and feed my cats and clean the litter box. I find it a very convenient way to make sure my cats are cared for while I am gone. I also like the fact that Mission: Cats works with a local cat rescue organization to help place and foster rescue kitties.

We had just moved back to the city, and were having a hard time finding housing with our 3 cats. Eveything was great from the first phone conversation, to waking out the door 2 weeks later. My cats had a nice room, and they seemed very calm every time I came to visit. The staff are friendly and were very accommodating to us. My cats loved the cat tree in their room, and they let us buy the tree as we were leaving! Mission Cats were great in a very stressful time for us. I would and have recommended them to friends, and will use them again if we go out of town.

I love Mission Cats and am so grateful for their services! My cats really prefer staying at home when I travel and it is so reassuring to know they are not just getting taken care of, but cared FOR. The Mission Cats staff take the time to play with them and send email updates with photos.

What a great find. Selling home an had to board cats during showings. They were very helpful, and the facility is super clean. I was able to have my cats in one room, the aquatic and it helped to alleviate their stress. I had them there twice and I thought the price was very reasonable. I would definitely use mission cats again. Thank you so much for making a tough situation so pleasant. Oh, I forgot to mention I wanted to sit with my kitties the first time they were there and that was also no problem.

I loved this place when I boarded my kitty here in 2012 when I was in between homes. But a few months ago I went to board her here and almost immediately I noticed a difference in the care. I came in a few times to give my kitty love and the guy couldn’t even remember if my cat was a girl or a boy. I know you see a lot of cats, guy (as he told me) but this isn’t any cat, this is my cat (as every cat owner feels! Like I’m going to say some parent I can’t remember your kid’s name, but leave him or her with me a few days and it’ll be fine!). If you can’t remember my cat’s gender, can you remember that she is 24 years old and very nervous? Will you be able to give her the love and attention I am paying you for? Nope. I was not impressed and took out before the day was over. Too bad this place got sold to new ownership. The old owners were quite wonderful. Homesits from now on.

The lofts are essentially big glass-​doored cabinets with perches on split levels. I wouldn’t mind keeping him in there with a few snuggly things from home, but without a blanket or pillow they are very spare, even though they are clean and reasonably priced. They had a lounge available and upgraded me on the spot, which are pretty big cubes with fluff, scratching trees and fuzzy things.
When I came to pick him up they had let him out to roam the lobby. He was holed up behind the computer keeping Katie company.
Making the reservation was really easy. The animals appear happy and well cared for. They sent an email in the middle of the day with a picture of him.
They’re my first call if I need a cat hotel again.

Truly cannot recommend highly enough.
I went out of town last week on Tuesday and my roommate also left town Friday, so I needed a place to board my Stanley — his first time ever. I poked around Google and picked Mission: Cats due to a mix of being cats-​only, rates, and services provided. Making the reservation was easy, communication was done mostly by email, and they accepted his paperwork that way as well.
My roommate dropped Stanley off on Friday and sent me a text indicating her approval with the place, and I received the first email update on Saturday. (These are elective but worth it, full of personality and pictures to reassure you.) They indicated he was a bit scared but they got a few pets in on his face. By Sunday evening, though, they’d sent an email indicating their worry, Stanley wasn’t eating or drinking, was a bit listless. From that point, they stayed in constant contact by email, took my calls and went so far as to put me on speaker with my cat in hopes that might calm him into eating.
I flew back into town yesterday, and I talked to Mission: Cats first — because he still hadn’t perked up, they indicated they would like to open up for me to pick him up late last night rather than wait until this morning. When my flight was delayed, the manager offered to pick me up from SFO so that Stanley would get home as soon as possible. He also allowed another client to perform a late night emergency drop-​off at the Mission: Cats location while I was sitting with my cat.
I got to see the accommodations close up while trying to calm Stanley, and they are nice, clean; the animals are clearly well-​cared for, and the staff has such a fondness for them, it’s so clear in their actions and words.
While I may not board Stanley again *anywhere* due to his sheer unwillingness to like it — he apparently holds the record for Mission: Cats’ longest hold-​out on food — if I do, it will be with Mission: Cats again. I’m hoping the time he and I spent together in the facilities will make him calmer there if he needs to stay again.

Love this place! Have brought two different cats here, brought Bobby in late 2012, and brought Jimi here just this past weekend. Both times were great! Bobby was an adult and stayed about 7 – 8 days, i know Bobby had a great time because the day or two after we brought him back he was sad and mopey! It was the cutest thing, like coming home back to regular life after an amazing vacay! Jimi is a younger one, about 11 months. he stayed for about 4 days and i got great photo and video updates via email. Both cats I took here came back much slimmer! NOT for lack of food, but for increased activity! This is how I can tell they really give our cats attention and they are played with a lot. Jimi is a very energetic kitten and he came home much more relaxed and calm. (both cat’s are bengals, btw if that matters to anyone)
Overall, the service is great, the prices are affordable, and they give really good care to our cats. The people at mission: cat’s do a great job and they are my go-​to spot when I go on vacation!

My cat actually stayed at Mission: Cats six months ago. I should have written them a review back then, but I figured with a solid 5 star average, did they really need another glowing review? The answer is yes, because my cat had the unfortunate experience of having to stay somewhere else in town this holiday, which somehow also has a high Unilocal rating, and I need to tell you, the places are night and day different.
Mission: Cats is a clean and cozy space, with a team of absolute professionals caring for your fur kid (s). Their openness with the cameras, Tumblr and Facebook is fun, but also demonstrates their pride in their work. I was a little nervous when I brought him in, but my cat settled into his loft immediately, much to my surprise. The playrooms are home-​like, with real floors and soft rugs, not sticky cement and vet-​office-​scented. The emails I got were well-​written, warm and funny, and showed my little guy getting pets and lap-​time… they really got to know him and what he wanted and liked.
Feeling like your pet is getting the best possible care from every person working there while you are away is priceless. If your kitty can’t be with you or at home, s/​he should ideally be somewhere that you can see is pretty darn great. And you can literally see it at Mission: Cats.
