New ownership! The bar is a bit small, but it is always very active even on a weekday basis. They have Hoegaarden beer, which is a plus for me because I like it: p The owners are super friendly and an amazing bunch — recommending meeting them and getting to know them :) Shots are also very generous — $ 6 for a shot of Jameson/Hennessy.

Taco is a homieee. Came in during Happy Hour(1−8pm) on a Saturday. It’s a pretty initiate bar, so seating might be tight but everyone that comes here is pretty chill. Theres a lot of bar seating and one booth for a group to hang out at. This place is a good spot to just hang and chill. I’m not too sure if it gets crowded at night but I wouldn’t be surprised if so because it seems like a lot of usuals come through to this place. I would definitely come back here for the happy hour! $ 3 well liquors $ 5 Jameson/fireball/jäger shots $ 12 non-IPA pitchers $ 16IPA pitchers And they have a daily shot!

Whenever people ask me what I’m doing on a Tuesday, I tell them I’m going to McKenzies for taco Tuesdays. However, little do they know I only go there because the bartender is named Taco. There’s no edible tacos at the bar. Lol. Great place. I feel like it’s cheers every time I walk in.

Definitely one of those neighborhood bars where you walk into and unless your from there you feel a little out of place. Bar tender was friendly and there was good music on and a pool table to play on. We had their special Unilocal check in punch, but i would not bother with it since it tasted like one of those flavored frozen popsicle sticks all melted.

You know that feeling when you walk into a new bar thinking everyone knows each other, and you’re the strange new person? Yeah, I totally felt like that. But it didn’t take long for me to feel like a local. That seems to be the charm of McKenzie’s Bar. Tiniest bar I’ve ever been to, easily. Didn’t spend long here, but left with a good impression. I’ve frequented many K-bars and V-bars, and British pubs in my day. This little bar had a nice fusion of both that I’ve never seen. It must be the contrast between the older white guys and younger Asians. I enjoy people watching, and thought this was really cool. Someone brought their golden retriever in. Not sure if it was the bar dog or a patron’s, but it was totally gentle and loved the attention. A bit stinky though. :p The bartender was super cool and friendly. She ordered my girlfriend a totally custom drink just by asking a few questions. Very attentive with a great attitude. She deserved that extra tip. ;) For me… I’ve been on a cider binge lately, so I tried the Ace Apple Cider from the tap. Not bad, but not great. I’ve had the pear many times, and the Ace Pear Cider is much better. But if you shove it in front of my face, I won’t push off the counter! Next time I’ll try the Negra Modelo on tap. I enjoy the flavor of Mexican beers(except Corona, sorry!) and the Negra Modelo is my favorite dark beer(ya know the brown bottle with the gold foil), but I’ve never been to any place with it on tap. Surprise surprise! Next time McKenzie’s, next time. Cheap drinks in an area I frequent = I’ll be back. To summarize… it’s what you would expect from a dive bar but in a different way. Some decent beers on tap, with a good variety of hard stuffs on the shelf. Friendly servers and locals. A fireplace and pool table. A place for a quick drink or two, or to simply chill and watch a game.

My friends and I went here to have a drink while we were waiting in line for dim sum next door at Hong Kong lounge. About five minutes into our drinks we saw a mouse run behind the bar around the drinks. We let the barkeep know about it and he acted like it was no big deal, texted the owner and went along serving drinks to customers. I asked the barkeep for our money back as we left then, and he looked at us like we were crazy.

Fun local dive bar with super friendly bartenders and free pool. Good prices, lots of HD flat screens so it’s a great place to catch a game. No food but there are lots of places nearby. Street parking and a cheap lot two blocks up and around the corner. Nice folks, so check it out!

Such a chill bar to grab a few drinks and start off your night! The bartenders are sweet and the atmosphere is super chill. Came here on my friend’s birthday and Daphne made us the Rainbow shot. It was our first time having a rainbow shot and it wasn’t as bad as it looked. Each shot had a different fruity flavor and was pretty easy to down. Definitely the perfect place to pre-game before a night out!

Came here last week to meet up a friend before heading out to dinner. I’ve been here on several occasions after having dinner or doing some version of a Geary crawl. This was actually the first time I was here in the early evening! Different crowd but everyone was super nice. The bartender was a sweetheart. I had some time to kill since I got there first so I basically ordered a drink and talked to everyone for a bit before my friend got there. Normally when I go to McKenzie’s it’s one of my last stops of the night so it’s a different vibe. I’m normally drinking and playing pool or just chatting it up with friends. Mel is the best bartender! One of my favorite neighborhood bars in the Richmond!

This bar has it all! Great drinks and great entertainment. But what really puts this place over is the service!!! Especially Mel! She’s the absolute best. Incomparable experience! Won’t disappoint for sure

I was here last night to watch the niners game. Multiple flat screens everywhere with it on. I ordered a pitcher and a cocktail and it was cheap. I also used the checkin offer to try the jungle juice punch which was ok. This place is definition of dive bar. Small. Cheap prices. Questionable regulars. We got a talking to by a regular to not get drinks on pool table. Could have been nicer. Why don’t they just cover the pool table during a game? Same regular had permission to fire up his foreman grill to cook food that I guess he sold. Annoying to have smoke from cooking in the bar. The bathrooms are upstairs and there’s flies drifting around. Come on man. That place needs to be cleaned up. I’m tempted to give 2 stars but I’ll leave it at 3.

McKenzie’s is definitely my go to spot in SF. Not too far of a walk there; the walk back definitely seems a lot shorter, haha! The staff is very hospitable, the crowd is definitely friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. There’s always a variety of beers, and they’ve started making punches, which are DELICIOUS. If you really want a good time, try their RAINBOW. ;] The nachos are BOMB by the way. Music is popping, sometimes there’s a DJ, board games, pool, game machine. ANDFIREPLACE.

This place has happy hour daily 3 – 8 pm with lots of variety — beer, shots, mixed drinks. It’s a very low-key restaurant as most places are in the Richmond District. You can wear whatever. I love the fireplace. It’s great for the SF summer weather — and yes, they do have it on this time of year. They also have pool tables and TVs.

Came here on a Thursday night and there were a decent amount of people. Daphne was our bartender that night and she was great(friendly and energetic). She gave us advice on how to out drink people. My guy friend was trying to woo her and bought all of us a round of her fav drink, which happened to be the«Nuclear Rainbow.» First time having it, but I was impressed by her bartending skills! The atmosphere was laid back, and everyone was friendly(a couple of guys were there playing country music from the juke box). We stayed for a while playing pool(free!), and the manager made us popcorn(also free) & even let us hang out after closing time. At the end of the night, I thought it was nice that Daphne walked one of the regulars home. Their credit card machine broke on us($ 20 credit card minimum) but luckily there was an ATM machine a block away. Will def come back! They also had a $ 5 «deer & beer» special on Thursdays, which included a jäger shot and a beer. Worth it!

When we first walked in we noticed a couple of surly Irishmen, a ton of big screen TVs but no A’s game. I asked the bartender if they could play the game and she happily had the channel changed for me. The bar has quite a few beer options but nothing on tap. We ended up sticking with Jameson($ 5 during HH) and Red Sessions. The bartender, Melanie, was quite the sweetheart. She was attentive, friendly, remembered all the regulars, and was just a delight. I’m very happy we stumbled across this bar and will be back again!

It has been a long time since I had a drink at Mckenzie’s. I used to have a drink there only because a friend was around the block… it was truly a sheet whole… and in some ways it still is… BUT. The clientele has changed, it is younger and much more diverse… not that I dont like Mickey Rourke«Bukowski» types… sure who doesnt like a drunk manic depressive keeping you on the edge of your bar seat in a fight or flight mode… whilst drinking. The newer clientele is nicer, more fun, and better energy! Good drink selection. Inexpensive prices. Sweet bartenders. Nice pool table. Nice teles. Tons of places to eat after gettin your buzz on.

The bartendar was really awesome. If you check in on facebook when you get there, she will give you a free drink. The one we got was called Oriental Sex, which is a mixture of lychee/mango/vodka. It is as yummy as it sounds. We didn’t stay long because I was feeling really sick from being sick the night before, but next time hopefully will get to try a few more drinks there. Not bad for the Richmond area. :)

if you’re looking for a low-key hang out with friends, a place to watch your favorite sports team/UFC fighter, or just a spot to drink incognito, this is it. With an exposed brick fireplace, stools with as much history to it as the regulars, pool table, and 4 flat screen tvs, this cozy neighborhood dive bar is a hidden gem in the Richmond district. Music is played through a jukebox, but don’t let that fool you. The jukebox holds a selection that ranges from the oldies to Kendrick Lamar. If that description doesn’t make you want to venture in, maybe this little tidbit will: SUPERCHEAP drinks, and a selection of at least 24 different beers! $ 2PBR, $ 4 well drinks, $ 4 chardonnay & cabernet, and $ 5 Jameson & Jäger shots. Also, Mckenzies makes one of the best bloody mary’s I have ever had. Can you say, BOTTOMSUP?! The bartenders are always friendly, and down to chitchat. The regulars and old farts make you feel right at home. Also, the amazing lack of d-bags that annoy you with the«hey baby, what’s your name?» lines will make you change your idea of a night out. And if you’re a person that gets drunken munchies like me, there are many restaurants within stumbling distance from here. Also, I heard there is a beer pong table coming in soon. Who is ready to get their ass handed to them by me, i mean… who is down for a friendly game?:) P. S. don’t mind ART and some of the regulars. They are more bark than bite.
