HAIKUREVIEW Tasty, juicy burgs – No zenith for SF but Best burgs in this ‘hood – And slightly cheaper Than the same burg at Marlowe. (Dang, burgs got pricey.) Tempting deviled eggs. Chicken sandwiches take flight. (But the fries are«meh»…) Canned beer? No, thank you. But come for that meat-fix, and Quality you’ll get.

I’ve always loved the Marlowe burger so I was super excited when I found out they were opening a spot just for the Marlowe burger. Surprisingly what really blew me away were the chicken nuggets. It was juicy and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Never had anything like it before. The sad part is they were so expensive. $ 10 for 5 pieces. They could have at least thrown in an extra piece. The burger is as good as the restaurants and the chicken sandwich is also great but $ 10.50 each not including fries again is expensive. I wish they had fountain soda. $ 4 for a diet coke with no refills is crazy at a burger joint. I also wish they open on weekends and have later hours. closing at 9pm for a burger joint is just too early.

The black and white décor inside is so darling! Loved the ambiance inside, it’s sleek, clean, yet has personality. The brussel sprout chips were excellent! Loved the texture and seasoning. I highly recommend trying these. Burger was hearty and delicious. Polenta was very rich and creamy; the mushrooms added a nice chewy texture. Everything was tasty and service was attentive & welcoming; what’s not to love?

I hate when restaurants get hyped up. With all the praise I’ve heard about Marlowe Burger, my expectations were through the roof. So anything less than ecstasy becomes disappointing. I’d say it definitely holds its own against the other local bougie burger restaurants around town, but it doesn’t outshine them. So yes I’m a fan(4 stars), but the burger scene is really competitive in San Francisco and I can’t call this one king(burger). Marlowe Burger: This was the main reason I came here. The main differentiating factor for this burger seems to be the horseradish aioli, which I’ve never had on a burger before. It added a nice tang that was slightly different from the tang of pickles, jalapeños or raw onions. The rest of the burger was well executed, about on par with other fast casual burger joints around town. Satisfying, but not particularly memorable. Fries: Decent crispy texture, but tasted more like oil than potato. Pretty bland experience unfortunately. Deviled Egg: A tiny little flavor bomb! The extra crispy bacon played off the mushy egg. The pickled jalapeño gave a little zing. I actually liked this more than the burger.

This is not Marlowe. The burger here is one of the best in San Francisco. I often tell people that the Marlowe Burger at Marlowe(and Park Tavern) is the best burger in San Francisco. This is not that burger or experience. This is a fast food burger joint out by the railroad tracks and it’s excellent. I had, of course, the burger. This work of art is delicious. This is some of the highest quality beef in a burger you can find in San Francisco. Before even thinking of cooking it they add just the right amount of spice. The first thing you are made aware of is that this is a fast food self-service burger joint. The majority of the seating is family style and there is no table service. As you come in the door, there is a person waiting to take your order. The day we came the person working the register was very friendly and welcoming. I can’t stress enough how important it is for the person that I am giving my money to be very nice and appreciative of my patronage. You can have the best burger on earth but if you treat me like a pile of rocks I will never return. I will be back often.

I was so excited that Marlowe was going to reopen their old location as a burger only option. It is so nearby that this could easily have become a regular option for us. I could not possibly have been more disappointed when we finally went there. Marlowe Burger — 1⁄5 — This is not the same as the Marlowe burger! WTF… It’s literally the same kitchen and yet it’s not even close to the same burger at Marlowe. This is so misleading. Overall, don’t be fooled by this place. If you want the great burger that we’ve come to know and love, head two blocks over to the actual Marlowe location. Shame on you Marlowe owners, it would have been trivial to simply keep the same recipe. «I think not.»

Simple, casual, gets the job done. Standard fries, a good burger and amazing horseradish aioli. While the interior of Marlowe Burger is welcoming, it’s unfortunately not too comfortable. Good for groups of 2 – 3, the tables and chairs are harsh metal and remind me a bit of a middle school cafeteria. There is a flat screen TV(though none of the tables actually face it, so you’ll crane your neck to watch a game). I like that the menu is scrawled on brown paper scrolls. I thought the burger was pretty good, cooked a perfect medium-rare with a nice juicy texture and perfect ratios of meat to cheese to bun + toppings. I don’t like bacon, but theirs is cooked perfectly — crispy and thick — and my husband was happy to eat it all. The burgers also come with a bit of the awesome horseradish aioli that’s served with the fries. The deviled eggs were disappointing after having had the version at Marlowe proper. They were fine, but I’ll hold out for the«real thing» before I order these again. Fries were average, mixed greens were just that — but, a fresh and verdant version(including chives, parsley, and various lettuces). I did really enjoy the light shallot vinaigrette that came with it. Marlowe Burger is good for burgers, but I’d love to see more healthy, veggie or non-burger choices on the menu. I get that it’s a burger joint but there’s really not much for me as the wife of someone who would be visiting for the namesake.

I’m sad I didn’t like it. I had higher expectations for this place, especially since Marlowe and Park Tavern are two of my faves :-(I will not be back and it was just not good. Why? The nuggets were juicy but the texture was weird, perhaps when making them, to flatten them out a bit? A little too round and egg shaped. The coating is thick and tastes cardboardy. The chicken sandwich was overly dressed with too much parm. I could hardly taste the delicious chicken as it was over powered by caesar dressing and cheese. My husband’s burger wasn’t the same as the original Marlowe. So yeah, bummer. Won’t be getting that $ 50 back anytime soon. One star would be too cruel. Two because I respect their other business.

Pass on the burger, it’s just okay. Maybe Marlowe’s overhyped now? On the other hand the fried chicken sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had. It comes with garlic aioli and mixed greens — almost like a Caesar salad! They have happy hour from 3pm-6pm too. You can get a burger and any beer for $ 12.

Slightly disappointed. It’s a cool idea to make this a fast casual place in the old space. With the baseball season and area offices, this could be very profitable. Sadly the burger was not as good as I remember. Or maybe the restaurant burger is better. Who knows. The bread was good but the meat was very mediocre and lackluster. Fries were bomb though.

I’ve never had the burger from Marlowe, but when Marlowe Burger opened up and my friend and I discovered that there is also a fried chicken sandwich on the menu we decided to hit this place up to share both dishes. The burger($ 10.50) was cooked medium rare and was very juicy and quite flavorful from the caramelized onions and horseradish aioli. The bacon strips only covered the diameter of the patty and you therefore couldn’t taste it in every bite, but it was nice when you did get a bite of bacon. The bread was just ok — it was a bit dry and could’ve at least used some toasting. Overall, I wouldn’t say it’s the best burger I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely solid. The chicken sandwich($ 10.50) was actually even better in my opinion! Because my girl friend and I had a lot to catch up on, our chicken sandwich sat for practically 30 minutes before we finally had at it. Amazingly, the fried batter and bacon retained their crispiness after all that time! The chicken was prepared fairly well — the meat wasn’t dry or gamey. But what made the dish was the ceasar aioli which added a lemony brightness to each and every bite. And of course, the bitter arugula also helped cut the heaviness of the sandwich. Mmm! We also ordered a side of fries($ 4) and it was once again paired with their horseradish aioli which was great! Next time I know not to ask for ketchup. The fries were all evenly cooked and were very good. All in all, it was a positive experience. The food’s not cheap despite the casual atmosphere, but I think the price is almost justifiable for what you get. I don’t particularly care for the beer list though.

Hooray! I’ve been trying to get here for a while and it was worth the wait. I would say it gets crowded at lunch, but the line moves fast and the food comes out pretty quick as well. Service was super swift and nice. Many people circulated and asked how we were doing– despite the order-at-the-counter style. One thing though– I ordered an Anchor Cali lager and they brought me the Kolsch which I said I’d drink anyway– it was malty and gross(kinda reminded me of steel reserve). I’m sure they would have switched it out if I asked, but i was too busy making eyes at my new love. I had the famous Marlowe burger, and OMGOMGOMG it really is worth all the hype. Like, melt in your mouth, you’ll have dreams about this burger. If I could write a love letter to this burger, I would.

In the former Marlowe space, Marlowe Burger now puts out the delicious hamburger made famous by chef Jennifer Puccio. The atmosphere is stark: white hexagonal tiles on the floor, one steel and one wooden communal table, a bar around the edge of the room. It’s a fast casual atmosphere aimed at competing with Super Duper. The menu is as sparse as the décor: burger($ 10.50, no substitutions), crispy fried chicken sandwich($ 10.50, no substitutions), fries($ 4), a few other bites, beer, wine, and soda. Diners order at the hostess stand cum counter, and heaven between buns is swiftly delivered. With carmelized onions, cheddar, bacon, horseradish aioli, and shredded romaine, the burger is as good as it ever was. Served medium as ordered, it was moist and tasty: two napkins required, just the way a burger should be. However, those who are into personalization will be disappointed: no condiments are offered, not even ketchup. It seems chef Puccio feels she’s earned the right to be a burger nazi. Limp and lifeless and served with a somewhat overpowering horseradish aioli, the fries were less successful. The crispy fried chicken sandwich was also not that great, a tad on the small size and not as crispy as one would hope. Charging $ 4 for a Diet Coke is highway robbery, even in over-priced San Francisco. With good namesake sandwiches, Marlowe Burger can fulfill your burger craving, but it’s lack of options and poorly executed fries might steer you elsewhere for lunch.

I heard that this place just opened and I must admit — one of the better burgers I’ve had. The location is where the old Marlowe was located. There is limited tables so I would recommend either coming before or after the lunch rush. I got the Marlowe burger — caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and BACON. Crispy bacon! The meat is so tender and juicy and the bun is toasted — best burger i’ve had in awhile. You can also get fries to share with their horseradish sauce :) The Marlowe burger is $ 10.50(not bad) and fries are $ 4. I would definitely come here first before Umami Burger.

I love Marlowe but never quite understood the hype behind their half lamb burger. But when Marlowe Burger opened in their old spot I was curious to check out their burger again. Sadly, I was still not impressed. I’m not actually sure it’s the same burger they serve at Marlowe. The one here is smaller and it’s more like fast food. I’m not sure if it’s a ½ lb patty but I didn’t have any problems finishing it and I usually can’t finish burgers that big. Toppings were okay(caramelized onions, cheddar, bacon, horseradish aioli, shredded romaine). Couldn’t taste the caramelized onions. Horseradish aioli came through — just a hint, not that strong but there. I like the super duper burgers better and they’re half the price which means I can splurge on the fries. The whole place is more a fast/casual food place — like super duper. It was pretty full on a recent weekday but it doesn’t take long for a seat to turn over. We ordered at the counter and got a number. The burgers come out in those paper/foil bags that you can pick up and eat out of.

What happened? I last came here when it was previously Marlowe and I was expecting a burger and chicken sandwich at least on par from what I had previously. Instead, expectations mislead reality since Marlowe Burger is actually a fast casual type resto in a similar mold to Super Duper burger. Except not as good as Super Duper but better than 5 Guys. Different tier of burger served here. Ordered their Super Duper Burger and their Chicken Nuggets which came out to $ 24. The cheeseburger was cooked a nice medium rare, juicy, but was short on beefy flavor. Two unremarkable pieces of bacon, chopped lettuce, and a toasted bun rounded everything out. The CHICKENNUGGETS were terrific. Crispy, juicy, incredibly tender but 5 for $ 10 and including one sauce(I liked the horseradish ranch?), merely a snack. Price is relative sooooo 5 Marlowe nuggets vs 40 chicken McNuggets??? Hmmmm… The MARLOWE chicken sandwich use to be better than Bakesale Betty’s! Now, it’s not. It’s still fairly tight inside and I wouldn’t recommend coming as a large group since my group of 6 had to play musical tables so we could all sit together. More like 2.5 since I was expecting a burger on par with the regular Marlowe(restaurant) burger.( )

3 burgers offered, the marlowes burger, the cheeseburger, the fried chicken sandwich, sides offered, chicken nuggets, fries and the deviled egg. let me break down everything I sampled and how it faired. I was able to sample two of the burgers on the menu the Marlowes burger and the fried chicken sandwich. The Marlowe burger — eye appetizing, bun screams bite me, meat looks delicious greens stacked high, sadly with all that said, the burger was on the smaller side, the meat was a tad to on the raw end for me, trust me I don’t mind raw I’ve had other places burgers close to raw where it more pâté then medium rare, but this place kinda borders on the line of raw and inconsumable. So let’s just say the marlowe’s burger was by my description wet(on the slightly too raw side). The greens paired with the seasoning and bun was good, sadly the meat lacked size and taste due to it being raw The fried chicken sandwich — again eye popping, deliciousness served on a tray, for the most part this sandwich was better then the marlowes burger, bit on the skimpy side but way better in regards to taste. Same bun dense and round reminds me more of a umami bun without the seared U on it, the chicken was bits fried and meshed together to form and sit in the sandwich, there was an initial crunch on the first bite, pipping hot I must add, the greens paired well with the sauce and bun, no super messy like the burger, it actually held its form until the last bite, I would order this again The chicken nuggets — these are not your mcdonalds brand nuggets, super crunch on first bite, super tender meat, almost semi jelly like on few pieces, but seasoned and flavored well. The sauces offered, honey mustard pass on, try the horseradish ranch that only heightens the flavor of the nuggets that don’t need more of a praise the Deviled egg — should be called a shooter egg, I sampled 1 and one was all I needed, I would try this again, served in a small sauce cup, standard deviled egg with pickled veggie could not make out what it was I want to say Jalapeño but it was not hot, thin slice of bacon. Again to get a full taste of this you would probably need to order more then 2, just an FYI they are $ 2 a pop the fries — standard no frills, paired sauces, bbq, horseradish rash, honey mustard or ketchup on a whole I will be back for the nuggets and I think that is all I would come back for food *** burger was disappointment for me. the chicken sandwich was ok not the best I have had but ok, the nuggets– order these, deviled egg you will need 3 to get an actual gauge on how it really is price $$$ service **** very helpful staff, limited seating, if your planning to eat with a group bigger then 4 finding seats may be an issue ambiance — *** stainless steel look

Having a meeting an hour after getting off the train with a 20 min walk meant fast lunch. Luckily Marlowe Burger just opened and right across the street. theyv e graffitied the old sign with the word Burger on it. Interior is quite spartan but has nice touches. Walk through the door and the host station is where you order. Get your drink, a number and find a seat. It came out in 5 minutes. Fries hot and fresh; superb. Burger was solid but over the medium rare i would have liked. Still had good flavor. Bun holds up and they have custom ketchup and horseradish aioli for sauces. It’s a bit on the higher side with drink, fries, burger and tip coming to $ 25. But there’s denying the speed/quality factor. I was done in 30min flat. Jennifer Puccio and Anna Weinberg the owners were checking in during my meal so theyre keeping an eye on opening week

All the best parts of Marlowe made convenient and fast, without reservations. Classic Marlowe burger, amazing as usual. Chicken nuggets were to die for. Great service on opening day.
