Manuela’s Beauty Salon

This time I went in for an updo before a big charity gala. I brought several inspiration pictures and showed Manuela what I was thinking about. The hairstyle she created was PERFECTION. She went above and beyond to make it spectacular. The only appointment she had was in the morning, and I was afraid that the style wouldn’t last all day and into the evening event, especially since I had to run a number of errands before then. But despite a windy day and many hours past, the hair remained perfect. If I was impressed by her skills before, now I’m in AWE.

Best haircut in town.

There isn’t a recent review here so thought I would provide one. I called the salon at 8:10am Saturday to see when they were open. The call rolled to Manuela’s cell phone and she answered. We arranged to meet in 30 minutes. Awesome. I live around the corner and with a baby and a dog and a husband jonesin’ to play his new video game, I had to get this done quick. I have straight thinnish hair and needed about 4 inches cut off since the baby kept pulling it. She obliged and cut exactly how much I requested. I didn’t need any layering. It was a fairly simple cut but she asked if I always parted it on the one side. I part it on both so she made sure I could wear it both ways. Manuela was pleasant to talk to as well. She charged $ 20 for the cut which is all I’m really willing to pay for a straight cut like this. Very reasonable. I’ll go back again. I would recommend that you call before you go. She is not always in the salon as she does hair at nearby rest homes, etc. but will meet you when you like.

My partner took me to Manuela’s and I live in Santa Rosa Ca. I took my mom there too and she loved her cut. We now drive to the city just to get our hair cut by her… the best cut for the price !!

If you live in the Mission, you probably want more out of your neighborhood than what you would find in less colorful places. You want people like Manuela. I’ve been going to her for 10 years as has my son. I’m almost bald now, but I still get my few hairs clipped here, because I enjoy Manuela so much.
Oh and yes, she does a good job, too. My son’s hair always look great and she can even make mine look okay (no combovers for me).

Great haircutting experience without the big bucks. Manuela knows how to cut hair efficiently. She used to work for one of those chains… and can get your hair done quickly and cheaply. The digs leave a little to be desired… and she doesn’t include a hair washing, but how can you argue with a sub-​$ 20 haircut. I’ve never got more compliments on my hair before.
Bonus points that she does goes to nursing homes to cut people’s hair and she does gratis haircuts for a volunteer program!

In my quest to find a white boy-​friendly salon in the Mission that doesn’t cost a fortune, I found Manuela’s Beauty Salon! She got me in within a moment’s notice and was very efficient, even on a hot day like today was!
Now, this isn’t to say that I couldn’t have gotten a good hair cut at places like «Chica Sexy,» or that I would have been turned away, or that I’m even mad about salons being more Latino-​friendly. I’m ok with it, and was up for some exploration! Perhaps once I’m more integrated into the neighborhood, I will see how sexy this chico can be!
Manuela herself cut my hair, and was very helpful in taking her time with my hair to get the look I was going for. She’s quite knowledgable about hair and reasonable in her services. I was able to get my hair manicured for $ 15. Which was fantastic since I can wash and style it quite well on my own– I just can’t cut it to save my soul.
