Law Offices of Michael S. Sorgen

I was referred to this guy by the SF Bar a few years ago. Supposedly competent in employment law. I now realize he was a waste of MUNI fare.
Came to see him about a specific issue, the evidence and facts of the case I have NOW heard from attorneys would have nearly been a «slam dunk» had I competent representation. This gentleman had a nice office overlooking Union Square, and seemed a little more aware (than other Bar referrals) of the California laws my former employer violated wholesale.
But then, his recommendation was to «let the state process run it’s course» and then contact him if it fails to resolve. His requested rate was 33% if he represents, 25% just for sending a demand letter!
I have learned the hard way that the state DLSE appears to be a corrupt and incompetent agency that is great at absolving the worst of employer crimes. So when they finally issued a decision I contacted Mr. Sorgen’s office several times to take the next steps, he never returned my calls. Bad enough I had to educate him a bit on the rest break law at the beginning, but the fact he disappeared at the stage where his services were needed is pretty incredible. Though perhaps a mixed blessing, if this is how he runs his shop.
My takeaway from this guy is that he must take the Bar referral money for entertainment and petty cash value. Wish I had my $ 25 back, more than a waste of time because I relied on his bad advice and it cost me my case because of the statute of limitations.

Got my bill from the credit card, they tried to charge me twice. First charge was for the $ 150 and the 2^nd $ 125. I can’t believe this place
