Laurel Beauty Lab

Part of me is hesitant to review Laurel so highly because I don’t want her to get too booked! Just kidding, I think she’s so incredibly talented, there’s a reason why she doesn’t have any review below 5 stars. First off, she’s the sweetest and kindest of people. Second, her patience and efficiency is mesmerizing. I had quite a color and cut request, and she worked quickly but still did a gorgeous job (you can see the picture!). I’ve been getting compliments non-​stop, as well as looks as I walk down the street, and I know it’s because my hair looks glamorous.
I’m not going anywhere else, she’s IT. Thank you so much Laurel for the most fun and wonderful hair appointment I’ve ever gotten!

LAUREL I LOVE YOU!
I was looking for a stylist who could do both cut and color — I also needed someone who can handle my crazy abundance of cowlicky, mildly frizzy hair that grows like a weed and has a mind of its own. Also, it has to be pretty much zero maintenance, because if I’m deciding between sleeping another 10 minutes or having time to do my hair… zzzzzzzzz sleep wins every time.
Laurel keeps me looking fab. Seriously, she’s some kind of hair genius.

i first found laurel on Unilocal when i was looking for a new stylist to get a terrible (and obviously crooked) haircut corrected. i was hooked on my first visit to her years ago, and i followed laurel from groove salon to her solo gig on market. i would follow this chick anywhere.
as i said in my previous review of her at groove: laurel is a g-​d rock star. every time i see her i roll in looking like a wayward troll and leave with the most gorgeous hair. after i leave my appointments, strangers routinely stop me on the street and tell me how beautiful i look. trust me when i say that its *all* the hair.
im caucasian, so my hair is fairly straightforward — although there is a TON of it — but shes also experienced and knowledgeable about all hair of all ethnicities. i recommend her to everyone i know, even dudes.
shes happy to suggest any products or treatments that i might be interested in, but there is never any weird pressure to buy or do anything. she routinely talks me out of coloring my hair, but offers alternate treatments that she says i can do if i really must.
a total gem, and worth every penny — and then some.

Go to Laurel a frumpy, sad, person and leave a creature of beauty. Seriously, a visit to Laurel is transformative. She is a master of color and an expert at effortless and balanced cuts. Just go see her and I promise you will leave feeling completely renewed. She is the best stylist in SF, hands down.

I’m convinced that Laurel is the best stylist in San Francisco! My guy friend with fantastic hair recommended her, and she’s been my stylist now since 2008. We even have a friend that drives all the way from Sacramento so that Laurel can cut her hair. That’s how good she is.
I particularly recommend her if you have short hair, like me.
Plus, she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Seriously.
