Some of the best airport food I’ve hAd. Killer sandwich offerings — and nice salad options as well.

Surprisingly good for airport food, and prices… well… they’re reasonable enough. Had the very familiar hot pastrami on rye with sauerkraut, and while it’s not anything I’d recommend outside of an airport, inside of an airport it’s quite decent. Throw in a little side salad(fruit salad wasn’t bad at all either) and it’s not a bad meal. They were quick too, but they were slow went I last went. Other times, especially in the mornings, they’ve been incredibly mobbed. So keep that in mind– timing might be a big factor.

This review refers to the Klein’s Deli at gate 62 in the 3E concourse. Just as the one over in the 80s gates, this outlet features dependable, custom-made sandwiches at reasonable prices, my favorite being the Castro. There is also a cooler full of pre-made items, and no matter how long the line might look, everything usually moves quickly and efficiently. With all the underwhelming choices here at the 3E concourse, this is pretty much your best bet.

I was in the remodeled terminal of the SFO airport with many newer food choices. Unfortunately all of those places had long lines and I was starving for some form of breakfast so I went to Klein’s Deli which has many locations in this airport. Now I know these airports whether a chain or independent are mostly run by a management company like HMS but it seems they always put the worse employees at Klein’s Deli. These ladies are some of the rudest people I’ve ever experienced at any airport restaurant and the food is average at best. Overall on this visit food was average and service was consistently terrible.

I really enjoyed the embarcadero deli, there’s pesto on it. Everything looks fresh and tasty. You should try it. =)

Pretty decent breakfast sandwiches. I ended up getting a breakfast bagel with cheese and bacon from here. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve never tried Klein’s before, but I didn’t want to board my 4 hour flight without something to grub on while in the air(who wants to pay for the overly priced food on the airplane?!). I was pleasantly surprised especially by the size and quality of the food. The sandwich was ginormous and could be easily shared. It also had a ton of bacon sandwiched in between the bagels. The sandwich was very good, especially being from an airport. I’ll definitely be back.

Sadly a poor experience twice here at Klein’s. First time my sandwich took *ages* when the place wasn’t busy… and ended up being half-cold, then second time I had to dodge fruit flies buzzing around the bakery cabinet. I hope to post a better review soon after I spoke to management about the issues. Would love this place to be better!

Truly awful location, prepackaged sandwiches have stale bread. Nice staff cannot overcome mediocre overpriced products. Avoid at all costs.

Got a Turkey Sandwich here at before my flight. It was pretty much something you could make at home, and it was $ 9, but what can you really expect from the airport?

They’re located inside the airport terminals so naturally, higher prices are expected before you reach the counter. Also note they’re in a busy terminal serving multiple airlines. There are two counters, the grab-n-go with juice and prepared danished etc. Then there is the made to order side, breakfast sandwiches, lunch etc. The cooking staff was rude, the eggs forgettable and the lines were long. We had to ask what order was what bbecause they had zero labeling and the line cook would just throw the sandwiches on the counter. The express side cashier ever jumped in to cut down the line and even she was met with attitude from the same cook. She must have had a bad morning. The ONLY upside to this place is the«Haight» BLT sandwich and the proximity to the flight I boarded. Don’t go out of your way to eat here. Purely a place holder for those passing through. There is absolutley no reason to recommend this place to anyone.

Awesome sandwiches! Ever since my boyfriend mentioned that he wanted to try this place, it’s been on my to-do list. Finally had a chance to try it before a work trip and picked this place for dinner. This location is in the United Terminal(Gates 60 – 69). There’s also another location at the gates located in the middle of the terminal. Line goes by fast! Food options: Hot/cold sandwiches(signature or build your own), salads, soup, chips, grab & go snacks, coffee and tea! I decided on The Embarcadero which was a hot sandwich — chicken breast with pesto, cheese, and roasted red pepper on ciabatta. Ordered at the sandwich bar and proceeded to pay. Waited for about 5 mins and my sandwich was ready! Definitely one of my few go-to choices at the airport for food! I’ll be back to try the other sandwiches.

Solid option for breakfast at SFO. More often than not, an early flight time means having to decide between potentially missing boarding to wait in line at Starbucks, or opt for a subpar yogurt parfait and water from a kiosk. Thankfully, Klein’s provides both a quick and tasty option at the crack of dawn! Lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel for me. Added tomato, onion(bad breath and all), and cucumber for good measure. This sandwich was packed with ingredients, the bagel was soft, and I loved watching it all prepared right in front of me. Paired with a darn good macchiato, I knew I had made the right choice. Now, how do we get Klein’s in airports everywhere?

I got Embarcadero and three beans. It was not bad. It was 11 $. Better than I expected at SFO.

For airport food, Klein’s isn’t bad. My made-to-order sandwich was very tasty and fresh, just how I like ‘em. Their sandwiches — named after famous SF neighborhoods — are veg-heavy and a great option for something filling yet not heavy to eat pre-flight. I certainly appreciated it. They have a cooler full of drinks and pre-made sandwiches down near the ordering station, where one of many sandwich-makers takes your order and quickly and skillfully makes your sandwich. They’re all proved around $ 8 and they’re all a decent size. I was especially impressed when the avocado being put on my sandwich came from from an actual avocado — not pre-sliced, not scooped from a tub, not taken from a tub of water, bus sliced from the skins and spread on my sandwich. Niiiiiice. Lots of drink and chip options, too. I like it.

Definitely a bomb ass sandwhich and defiantly a little pricey. I which it wasn’t so expensive but I was so worth it. I got the haight with the special sauce and a half portion of turkey and its probably the best sandwhich I’ve ever had! if you’re here and have a long layover. GOGET A SANDWHICH. Another plus is that they don’t skimp out on the avocado or the bacon! They totally load it up! It deserves 5 stars but I’m try to save money for the vacation I’m going on haha. But it was worth it. I also got an iced coffee. They’re coffee is local from Flying Goat Coffee located in Healdsburg and I used to go there all the time and I love it. When I got it here I thought it would taste a lot better then it did. It’s OKAY but the prices on the coffee are defiantly a lot better

Thanks to poor planning before a trip, I had to give up my morning brunch run to Dottie’s and settle for a subpar lunch at the airport… Actually, thanks to Klein’s Deli, I didn’t have to. I was expecting a watery gross excuse for hot chocolate, but what met my lips was amazing milky cocoa goodness. Went well with a superb moist chocolate muffin topped with cream cheese. Their pastry cupboard looks so much more classy than the Dogpatch café across the hall, and is *cheaper* too.(I tried the cheese Danish at Dogpatch and was disappointed, and their muffins looked even more dried up.) Didn’t try the hot food at Klein’s so can’t speak to those, but I’ll get a large hot chocolate next time I’m in Terminal 3!

Really delicious but a little pricey(though that’s what happens at airports, I guess). We tried three cold sandwiches(all $ 8.95), which were all pretty sizeable and satisfied us for the 5-hour plane ride back to D.C. I got the mission, which had turkey, a ton of avocado(yay! I hate when place skimp), pepper jack and your usual onion/lettuce/tomatoes. I have no idea what’s in their special sauce but I think the whole sandwich came together well, even if the avocado chunks tried to escape. We also tried the Haight, which is basically a BLT with avocado, and it had generous amounts of bacon. We also got the North Beach, which was an Italian-style sandwich, on sourdough instead of the french bread. Service is very quick and they make the sandwich right in front of you, assembly-line style. You can also choose your own ingredients. I’d go back if I were flying through SFO again– it’s in a swanky new area, gates 60 – 69, with lots of nice chairs and areas to sit down and plug in your electronics.

Meh. Roasted turkey on a sourdough bread. Bread was very cold and of course very hard. Skimping on my turkey meat as well. I’m confused about my experience. Obviously people like this place; even Adam like them. What happened? The way I think of a business is that they can’t have everything perfect but they can’t have only a couple of something good either. It can’t be a hit or miss. So I’m not going to blame myself for ordering the wrong thing. In short the fate of my sandwich lies on their hands not mine. So not for me. Next.

I’ve been very pleased with the new United terminal wing, and the food selection it has to offer. I’ve been to Klein’s a couple of times. Looking at their webpage, they pride themselves on neighborly service, but I’m not quite in agreement. Of course this place is at an airport and you can’t expect much, especially with high demand for fast efficient service, but at least show some genuine appreciation. This place is ran by owners that should be running a phở joint, where I wouldn’t expect decent service. Most of the time I feel rushed and wonder if my order will be correct. With all of this chaos, I give them credit, they were always accurate with my order. They offer sandwiches, fresh salads, outstanding coffee and scrumptious baked pastries. I’ve had the Embarcadero Sandwich, which was made with chicken breast, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and pesto on a ciabatta. I thought it was decent, nothing spectacular though. The fresh chocolate chip cookie was delicious. This morning I had their Hearty Breakfast Sandwich, which usually comes with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese and bacon on a toasted country white bread. I modified mine to be made with Swiss cheese; I always thought its a tastier partner for the eggs. I was really impressed with the sandwich, another option besides a common breakfast burrito! As far as the coffee, I would definitely get it from here again, they serve Klein’s special blend from Sonoma County’s Flying Goat Coffee, which took the 2013 Good Food Awards’ top prize for its exceptional brew. My Americano was quite tasty without bitterness, just nice earthy flavors. If you’re on the fly and looking for something fast, check out their selection of grab and go options. Putting the emotionless service aside, this place gets four stars just on the coffee alone.
