getting closer to death is something to celebrate and I can’t imagine a better way to do it than with Paul he’s a consummate professional(which is sort of a backwards thing to say about a karaōke jockey but he earns it): doesn’t sweat the small stuff or even sometimes the big stuff(I was directing him via cell phone to my building’s freight elevator so that he could load-in for the party and a cop pulled him over for driving while distracted. obviously the term«good cop» is a loaded one, but this one was decent enough to understand the situation and let Paul off. in any case, Paul was an incredibly good sport about it and laughed it off) he’s got all the equipment you could need: my apartment building has this horrible community room, like seriously, it looks like the conference room you meet your agent in before touring the Grand Hyatt’s Arnolds Park timeshare. he took that mess and turned it into a cool little dive bar — the lighting, the smoke machine, the projector, the sound system Paul’s songbook is unrivaled; PJ Harvey all the way to Celine Dion, he’s got you covered. every song I wanted to sing(barring like Diamanda Galas, but really give me two mics and some ululation and that shit is covered) was in there the party ran from 4pm till 1am and he showed no signs of tiring. each one of my guests made mention of how great/cool/lovely/weird Paul is throughout the night. I don’t know if the Bay Area understands how lucky we are to have a gem like him honestly at this point I’m just looking for excuses to hire him again … I think summer solstice is coming up

Was throwing myself a party to celebrate 40 years on the planet. I’m a hardcore karaōke guy — last four BD’s have been at karaōke places around the city. Have done all kinds of karaōke –private room, stages big and small. But I had never hired my own KJ. Enter KJ Paul. All the reviews are spot-on. He is a stand-up guy who loves his job! He was great when I reached out, very responsive, and suggested I rent out the SOMA Streatfood bus for the event. Excellent call. Perfect amount of space. By the time I arrived, he already had his equipment set up and was ready to go! He has every song you want — listens and adjusts throughout the evening to what you need next, has patience to deal with a lot of diva singers, and generally made the evening a hit! Highly recommended.

Killed it when I ran into him at The Lookout, then again later in the week at El Rio! Partied twice in a week with KJ setting the mood, and what a treat. High energy, but laid back. Killing it

Super impressive. I hired them for my kids bday party. First of all, they were very responsive. I inquired 3 or 4 karaōke Dj and Paul was the first one to reply. They were very accommodating to my needs and requests. They came on time. Kids had a blast and the next day, they emailed to check if everything was ok and if I were satisfied. This is what’s called good service and good business. Definitely recommend them and will use them again.

THis guy loves his job, he loves music, he’s the man. Its no wonder he’s one of the most popular ones around. This guy rocks, he’s got that cool moustache I wish I could pull off . It got to creepy for me but this guy pulls it off well. His crowd is great, its like he keeps them magically organized so perfectly well. He plays all kinds of different shows, has all kinds of different hats, an maintains a cool wardrobe. Kj Paul ROCKS!

Kj Paul Karaōke is the best there is in the city. If you are looking for a good attitude, sophisticated technology, fun props, and an extensive song selection.

Paul is simply the best KJ in San Francisco. KJ Paul Karaōke means a good time, every time. From the crowds on Wednesday at El Rio to the often lightly attended Sunday at Dalva or the inventive Saturday at the SoMa Steet fair, KJ Paul runs a tight, fun and fair show. His music catalog is vast and high quality. We love how he handles duets and singles… he even has the obscure indie, 80’s and 60’s songs we like to sing! How it goes: People sing. People should tip and usually do($ 2/song is ideal) People eat and buy drinks. Lots of drinks. Some people watch the show and are great audience members. Other people meet and hang out. And then they sing again… then Paul will step up once and a while with a song. More drinking, more clapping, more singing. Drink, Sing, Repeat… Paul is not a selfish guy either. Right there with him are KJ’s Eileen, Bartman, Mike, Dana and all the others he has mentored, worked with or taught how to KJ… Check them out as well. Good shows and great times So if you are looking for a sure bet and love to sing, go to or here on Unilocal!and see where Paul is TONIGHT! We all really enjoy his show and he is a great guy. Happy Singing!!! Scott

KJ Paul ROCKS! I hired Paul to play my wife’s 40th on a party bus and it was truly one of the best nights ever. Not only did he go out of his way to accomodate the strange venue but his professionalism, equipment and song list are all top shelf. If you love karaōke, Paul is your guy. He’s playing at the Streat Food Park every saturday this month. Go!

KJ Paul set a standard for fun and inclusiveness in karaōke. For me, anyway. I have never seen such a huge selection of songs to sing, nor have I encountered anyone else whose setup can record nearly every song and then make it available for singers to hear on his website( ). This way, if you are practicing singing, you can check on your progress. Recording isn’t mandatory – check a box on the song cards if you don’t want your song recorded. Anyway… this means that the people who sing at KJPaul’s karaōke nights run the gamut from not giving a $#@% to those who want to keep tabs on their evolution as singers. And everyone is given the same level of respect and love! KJ Paul and Co– KJ Dana have drawn some amazing crowds and helped make some magical nights. Super fun! Go!

I experienced KJ Paul for the first time last night at El Rio in the Mission, where he is every Wed night, starting at 8pm. HUGE selection of songs, old and new, and very professionally set up. Don’t go to the dedicated karaōke places. Just go wherever he is on a given night. Check his website for his schedule. You won’t be disappointed.

KJ Paul is chill and and a pro. I usually karaōke with him on Wednesdays at El Rio but he’s working all week long. His schedule is on his site. Another perk: your song gets recorded and put online. You can listen to it after you sober up and wince and how awful you were(or smile at how unexpectedly awesome you were). The track is also downloadable if you want an MP3 of yourself.

KJ Paul is fantastic! I’ve hired Paul for both my ___th birthday(a big, round number which shall remain a secret) and then, a couple years later for my wedding! He delivered! Paul is very professional and perfect for what I was looking for. Not to mention, he is very affordable and easy to work with! For my birthday in SF, we hired him for Karaōke and everyone had a blast. He had such a wide selection of goodies! For my wedding, also in SF, this past March, we had a shorter amount of time and just wanted music to dance to so he worked with my playlist I gave him and added a few more gems that fit it with everything else I wanted. At the end of our event, he even ended up offering up a Karaōke opportunity… Sinatra’s «New York, New York», performed by one of our dear, drunk friends. A perfect way to end a perfect wedding day! I would recommend KJ Paul to ANYONE and would book him again in a heartbeat, should the opportunity arise!

What can I say about Paul DeJong that has not been said before. He puts on one heck of a karaōke show. His equipment is always rock solid, the sound is better than most full time karaōke bars, and he has one of the best books I have ever seen. Paul is the KJ’s, KJ.

KJ Paul was the main entertainment at our company holiday party this past Friday and was a huge hit! He came with a large selection of songs and a rack of costumes. Decked out in his own rocking outfit, he made everyone feel comfortable and provided a great environment for people to sing. Prior to the party, KJ Paul conducted a site inspection to get a better understanding of our space and what to bring. During the event, he constantly checked the sound quality for each performer and provided extra mics and props to backup singers. He took lots of pictures and stayed two hours past the scheduled event time(at no extra charge) because everyone was having so much fun and he didn’t want to close down the party! If you’re looking for quality entertainment at your next event, definitely talk to KJ Paul. His prices are super reasonable and it’s very easy to work with his agent Beatrice to book him for your event. You won’t find a nicer and more accommodating DJ who is interested in making you look good and ensuring all of your guests leave your party feeling like a star.

Karaōke for the rest of us! If, like me, you can sometimes find Karaōke a bit intimidating(the pressure of performing!) then Paul might just be the guy for you(it worked for me, anyways). What I like about KJ Paul’s karaōke is that it’s a no-judgment zone where it’s all about having fun and everybody gets a round of applause. The weird thing is(as I found), that you actually GETBETTERATIT from all of that positive reinforcement. That’s not to say that the people who go to these nights are bad singers, either — you get the full range from people who sing for a living(I recently hung out with a legit band at a KJ Paul event), to, well, me, the guy who basically sucks but is getting a lot better thanks to the awesome vibes at Paul’s events. Try it, you might like it!

I LOVEKJ Paul’s events! I’ve been to several of his karaōke nights around town. My favorite is El Rio(the vibe is super mellow and it seems like everyone wants to sing!). My second favorite is actually BOTH of his nights at Deco Lounge. The Tuesday night crowd is sweet and active, and the Thursday night crowds(especially for the Porn-E-Oke night the first Thursday of the month) is a little more rowdy and fun. Both nights there’s plenty of good singing and the occasional stellar cringe-worthy standout. Sometimes that singer is ME :) Be sure to check out his site for all the different nights of the week he’s got karaōke gigs, and especially watch out for his special events. Book him for your private party and the fun will last until the last guest goes home!
