Julie Ireland Dressmaking

We have yet to finish my dress but I must say… coming from someone who is a bit of a perfectionist and has had extreme anxiety about the couture gown I ordered online (it came in and didn’t fit me it was so upsetting) she has really been so supportive, attentive, and sensitive to my situation. She responded to every email I sent within a couple hours tops. No other seamstress was able to offer her alteration technique to broaden the bust of my dress or to rebuild the back of the dress like she was able to do. I will post pictures once its complete to show how detailed and difficult this dress is to work on. I was literally losing sleep over making such a large purchase (4k plus) and it not fitting. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have Julie working on my gown. Today was only my first fitting since she’s had the gown and I already feel relieved and at peace because it fits nearly perfectly after having my dress less than 2 weeks! I would highly recommend her not only for her vast knowledge and skills but also because I like her as a person and how she makes me feel. I never feel like I’m being a high maintenance client, even thou I know from past experience, I most likely am one lol.

Julie is an amazing and talented dressmaker! I brought in my wedding dress to her after feeling very uneasy with the original tailor I had chosen. She listened to my needs and was able to tailor the dress exactly how I wanted it. It was an expert job and I was completely satisfied with the final product. She is organized, prompt with communication, and very pleasant to work with.

I brought a sample sale wedding dress to Julie that needed to be altered. I also wanted to add lace to the bodice and make it more similar to another dress that I had been eyeing.
Julie saw my vision perfectly! She bought the exact lace (perfect style and color) that I wanted and made my vision come true. She expertly altered the dress to fit me to perfection. She even saw that the buttons weren’t quite perfect and sent extra fabric from the dress to the button maker to make new ones.
I also loved how she gushed over my dress — she loved the fabric and told me that others who came to her shop admired it. *aw shucks* :)
I also loved that she told me to start eating ice cream constantly as she thought I was losing too much weight toward the end. Don’t have to tell me twice!

Julie typically creates and alters bridal dresses. I have a regular, inexpensive, flowy dress that I love and wanted more intensive alterations for. I brought the dress to her, and not only did she agree to take on the project, but she treated it like it was my wedding dress!
She was very calm and kind, listened to my vision and offered creative enhancements, and was understanding when I had to reschedule a couple appointments. Based on the incredible results she is clearly an expert seamstress. There was even some extra silk material that she donated to the beautiful end result.
I would highly recommend her to anyone. She said she’s rolling out her line of wedding dresses soon, and if/​when I need one, I’d order from her in a second.

After not having much luck with finding a dress in bridal salons and being drawn to dresses that were well above my price range (Claire Pettibone, Jenny Packham), I approached Julie about making a custom wedding dress. My first appointment with Julie, I went in with just a couple of pictures of ideas and a general description of what I wanted: a v-​neck sheath dress with an open lace back. Julie sketched out a design for me on the spot and gave me suggestions on what would work and what would need to be changed. The price she quoted me was also very reasonable for the amount of work and quality of materials. The dressmaking process was quite a time investment with regular fittings and at times the progress seemed a bit slow, but Julie showed an incredible attention to detail and commitment to the quality of her work and the time investment was well worth it. The changes she suggested over our meetings to the original sketches only made the dress even more flattering and beautiful. The end result exceeded my high expectations. My dress fit beautifully, is one of a kind, and was so comfortable to wear. I received so many compliments on the dress. Julie is an incredibly talented designer and I’m so happy I found her to make my perfect dress.

Julie is an artist!!! I bought my wedding dress elsewhere and needed the alterations done locally. I am so thankful I found her! Julie did an amazing job. She was very meticulous on every detail and the dress fit like a glove when she was done with it. She created a gorgeous bustle that fit the theme of the dress perfectly. Julie’s advice demonstrated her expertise and was what impressed me the most…“you have to be able to raise your leg up 6″ with the alterations or you will fall; sit on a pillow in the car to avoid wrinkling (satin dress); don’t steam it yourself or you may burn your arm; go eat a burrito! (loosing too much weight at the end)”. Her prices were also what I was expecting and very reasonable.
