I visited the DiMaggio’s at the Domain in Austin, TX. I remember enjoying the décor especially the story of Joe and Marilyn in the pictures on the wall. I was touched by single red rose in a vase under one particular picture of Marilyn. As far as the food, it was amazing! The seafood risotto was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I’m sorry this restaurant had to close. The personality and cuisine of DiMaggio’s were equally enjoyable.

Bought a certificate from Bloomspot and TownHog. Went on Opentable like usual to make reservations. JD was no longer listed. Went on Unilocal and some reviewers mentioned they might be closing. Nnoooo!!! Called the restaurant to make reservations for Sunday 10⁄24. At the end of the conversation, I mentioned trying to make reservations on Open Table. He said«we no longer use OT.» Couldn’t make it on 10⁄24 and switched it to 10⁄26. 2 hours before my reserved time, a lady calls me and told me that there was a problem in the kicthen so they have to close. And they didn’t know when they would reopen. I asked her if she would call me when they do reopen. She’s like«ofcourse!» BULLSHIT!!! Now I have to find a new place that has black truffled mac n cheese.

I tried to make a reservation at DiMaggio’s and called many times over a several day period. They never answered the phone, but a phone message asked to leave your reservation request so they could call you back. Despite leaving several messages, I never got a return call. Last night, I stopped at DiMaggio’s. It turns out that the dining room is no longer open. The do not serve dinner and haven’t been for quite some time. How difficult is it to change the outgoing message on a telephone?

I purchased a Bloomspot certificate with an expiration date of 11⁄1. They are now out of business. ~bitches, sellin certificates through vendors when they knew they would shut down. Luckily Bloomspot gave me a refund.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner, and I was so excited to come here. I heard so many great things and was finally going to be able to give it a try. Parking in the area was very difficult to find, but eventually we were able to find a spot. We walked over and the place was a bit chilly since the doors were kept wide open. We walked in an the woman at the greeter stand welcomed us and asked us to wait a little bit for our table. So after about 5 minutes she walked us over to a booth in the dining room. The dining room décor was very classy and the booth was spacious. Something that kept irritating though was that there was a vibrating that would go on coming from under the booth every 10⁄15 minutes. It would not only shake our booth, but make a pretty noticeable sound as well. Needless to say, it would interrupt our conversation every time it came on. We ordered the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, which was delicious. We both ordered pizzas as entrees and we both were not amazed. Mine tasted salty and the bottom was a little burnt. My boyfriend’s was OK, but nothing great. Our server was very nice whenever she was with us, but other then that we had trouble flagging her down for refills/more cocktails/special requests for crushed red pepper or etc all night. After trying to speak over the loud vibrating sound and constantly flagging down employees the whole night we just wanted out. I’m a huge dessert person and I didn’t even want dessert for my birthday … I just needed to get out of that place. I saw signs for their Happy Hour and that looks promising, but for now I think I need to stay away for a bit. Until I try this place again, 2 stars; one for the wonderful décor and one for the yummy drinks we did end up getting.

I set out from Union Square just to go for a «walk» and ended up here. As I was strolling through North Beach, I was looking for a place to grab a cocktail while waiting for my friend to get off work. As I walked past the door they had their Happy Hour offerings posted on a little chalkboard, $ 5 cocktails, $ 5 pizzas and $ 5 wine… HELLO! This was the place for me! I was greeted by the hostess and made my way over to the bar, where I was quickly waited on and served up a tasty cranberry and vodka… okay maybe two, hey, can’t pass up a good deal ;) The décor was rich and dimly lit, very relaxing and if you’re in the bar, there are a few TVs to tune into whatever games are on. I didn’t eat anything, but from the smell and sight of some of the food I saw pass by, I will definitely come back for lunch or dinner sometime.

I’m telling you, fantastic! This is such a cool surprise, when you check out the menu on the street, you think, oh, it’s a bar with some food… we’re pretty familiar with the North Beach district, we visit there often. Since a couple of our most favorite restaurants in San Francisco have recently closed, we decided to try it. Inside, wow! Really cool, clean, and tasteful décor(yeah it matters, but the food matters more…) We got a really cushy, extra large, leather booth-just right for a quiet supper. Fantastic waitstaff-just enough service, just enough conversation. Had the brick chicken(Totally recommended!) which was perfectly cooked, super tender and accompanied by some super grilled veggies and polenta. A++++ dish there. Also tried the spaghetti and meatballs-also very well done. The meatballs were pan seared and had a nice complex blend of spices and fennel. What a cool surprise to see the total bill, with coffee came to about $ 40 bucks!(You can spend more on steaks, but even they weren’t hugely expensive) If you check it out, park anywhere on the the street, but check a couple streets over for 2 hour parking with no meters… since meters in SF run about 4 minutes a quarter now… ouch. Def put this one on your list, it’s pretty cool!(Has a first class restroom as well… a godsend!) Large bar too with huge tables for groups. If you must sidewalk dine, there were a couple of little tables, but it’s not the main attraction… plenty of sidewalk cafes around the corner though… have fun!

So, to be honest, the food was good and that’s about it. The service was deplorable. The waiter, albeit a hottie, knew nothing about the wine list,(we had to pour our own wine), we were neglected, and the tab was not worth the $ 210 that we paid for two people. Next time, I’ll drop $ 210 at Gary Danko or Rose Pistola, instead of going to this place.

This review is for HAPPYHOUR only! Probably the most awesome Happy Hour with discounted food in town! HH is daily 3pm-6pm and sunday 3pm-closing. Everything on happy hour menu is $ 5 Drinks, Appetizer and Pizzas. Flame Of Love Cocktail — bartender made this drink waaay to strong… tasted like I was sipping on hard liquor. Fritto Misto — batter fried calamari, shrimp and veggies. This is probably the most awesomest fried calamari i’ve tasted! I think the fried shrimp and veggies makes this dish more unique than the typical old fried calamari app. Bruschetta — basically chopped tomatoes over toasted bread. Nothing special to me. Doesn’t taste great. Happy hour pizzas — all the pizzas are awesome! waaaay better than domino’s pizza and better than palomino’s HH pizzas… Really liked the smoked chicken and cambozola cheese. Happy hour is only in the bar/lounge area and they dont take reservations for that area. Should get there before 7pm on sundays for a better chance of getting seats. The décor is more of a higher class feel and i love the bathroom sinks!

It was quite a nice restaurant with quite good food at a decent value. I can’t give it 5 stars because it wasn’t the best steak I’ve had in this city but it was definitely worth a meal here and potentially a second shot. But first – the strange thing: apparently there were no earlier reservations available over the phone but the place was totally empty. So why did the hostess say that there were no reservations available, I have no idea. And secondly, the bar area can get really loud. That aside. They had a nice 3 course meal for 39.95 including minestrone soup, a filet and a dessert. The soup was a nice minestrone, but more on the tomato-based side. The filet was cooked great and came with zucchini and mashed potatoes, and the tiramisu was, well more like a thick layered chocolate cake. I’d say overall the food was more like 3.5 stars but I’ll round up because overall it was a nice experience. good wine list, good service and a really neat classy environment with nice booths, chairs and large classy photos hung up. Cute location on Washington Square Park. I’d definitely go back, but I might try one of the more«italian» dishes like the lasagna or something since I gotta say, Ruth’s still has me wrapped around its finger with it’s filet sizzling in butter.

Came by for a company function and had an opportunity to dine in their private Beach Street dining room. As always, parking in SF was a challenge. Luckily, the restaurant offers valet parking for $ 12/car + tips? Some of the appetizers we enjoyed included the Cocktail Prawns, Crab Cakes, Fried Calamari, Baked Cambozola Cheese, and Anti-pasti platter Colorado Rack of Lamb — $ 40 — 3.5 stars — Perfectly cooked at medium-rare — Rack of Lamb was rather fatty, thus didn’t contain too much meat Lobster Mashed Potatoes — $ 20 — 3 stars — Despite being very excited about this dish, this was a failure in my book as the lobster was few and far in between and overcooked Tiramisu — $ 9 — 3 stars — Amazingly it wasn’t too sweet, which is rare — Alcohol content wasn’t too strong Mushroom Soup of the Day — $ 8 — 2.5 stars — Soup was rather thick and tasted more like a pea stew — The waiter did a good job selling the soup though… Ambiance is very class and service was top notch. The waiter was prompt at refilling our wine glasses and offering an additional bottle of wine or other drinks from the bar.

I didn’t know what to expect of our dinner at Joe DiMaggio’s. I read the menu, perused the website and read the reviews. The décor is very classy, I love the little details. The booth we were seated in was very romantic, we got to sit side by side and it gave us a full view of the room. Although we could not see the band, we enjoyed the live music very much. I booked the reservation in anticipation of eating there for the Dine About Town meal, but when we arrived I found out that it was only on selected days — Doh! We had already decided who was getting the filet and who was getting the salmon. We shared a Chopped Salad, which was picture perfect and even tastier. I ordered the Filet Mignon(Medium Rare) and my crush had the Lasagna, but we ended up splitting both entrees. My filet was incredibly good and the lasanga was very cheesy and filling. We topped this meal off with a side of the Truffle Macaroni and Cheese, which was SOGOOD. Seriously, the Mac and Cheese was incredible and all of you should try it. We had an incredible meal and a very memorable dining experience. I look forward to going back and trying a few other entrees and sides.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you(Woo, woo, woo) What’s that you say, Mrs. Robinson? Joltin’ Joe has left and gone away (Hey, hey, hey… hey, hey, hey) Ah yes, Joltin’ Joe has been dead for over a decade, but his ties to the Bay Area were strong — born in Martinez(of all places) and married Marilyn Monroe at City Hall here. This is probably the type of place a good Italian boy like Joe would have liked, a Midwest-style chophouse specializing in what the owners call«country club cuisine» — veal braciole, cioppino, and a whole lot of steaks. But I have to admit that the real draw for me is the huge bar area. Yeah, I don’t think I’m enough of a Rat Pack-type cool cat to enjoy the full-on dining experience, especially as Tony’s Pizza Napoletana calls my name right across the street. In fact, that’s the reason a group of friends and I were in the bar… to wait for our table at Tony’s. It was a good wait since DiMaggio’s offers spacious communal tables and a decent, unadventurous appetizer menu. No surprise since the original Joe was known to enjoy eating dinner on a TV tray in front of the set. Just ask Marilyn. The $ 10 Polenta Con Funghi(mixed mushrooms with caramelized onions and baked polenta) was hearty stuff and pretty easy to share, but I have to say they do best by the Chilled Frutti de Mare, which was a nice mini-extravaganza of seafood — prawns, oysters, mussels, calamari, and some kind of cured whitefish. A bit pricey at $ 16 per person, but I think a true paisan like Joe would have approved. I downed my part of the food with a couple of their Bellinis since I got hooked on them after a recent trip to Harry’s Bar in Venice. I’m not sure I need to go back given all the dining choices in North Beach, but if I had an Uncle Vinnie who wore gold cuff-links and put pomade in his hair, well, I think I have a suggestion for him and his wife in the leopard-skin coat. Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me… aren’t you? Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mrs Robinson Jesus loves you more than you will know(Wo, wo, wo) FOOD — 3 stars… hearty appetizer plates on the pricey side AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… clubby, a bit thick on the Sinatra side SERVICE — 3.5 stars… pretty good considering how busy it gets on a Saturday evening TOTAL — 3 stars… Joltin’ Joe wants me to have a steak!

I would give it a 4.5 stars for the service, atmosphere, pricing and food. I enjoyed dining here. They serve fresh foccacia bread with some delicious vinegar and olive oil. The vinegar tasted better than the random ones you get from the store. I got the bruschetta and caesar salad with anchovies. The salad was alright. I must say, «I’ve had better.» But the bruschetta was different. It had a few different type of olives and tomatoes. So good. For sides I got the truffle mac and cheese(yummy, even after the next day) and the risotto. Risotto wasn’t all that. Finally the steak. Filet mignon wasn’t bad, but I don’t think it was a good choice that I ordered that. However, my bf got the bone in ribeye and it was so juicy, tasty and just… if it wasn’t rude, he would’ve picked up the bone to suck on it. After all that plus dessert and a drink, it was less than $ 200. Even after tip it wasn’t $ 200. I will for sure go back there. This time I am getting the ribeye!

This place called to me from the street last Sunday, I’m so glad it did. It is a very classy place and if your a Marilyn fan like me, you will LOVE it! The place is adorned with Marilyn and Joe DiMaggio memorabilia! Picture’s I don’t think I have ever seen before, autographed even! So it was Sunday at 4:30 and we SO lucked out. This apparently is the best Happy Hour in town, especially on Sunday! $ 5 premium selected drinks, and $ 5 for almost all appetizers! The Happy Hour goes 3pm to CLOSE!(sweet!!) The Strawberry mojito was the favorite hands down. The Flame of Love drink was cool, very impressive presentation as they lit an orange peel(i did not know oranges spark!) and flamed the top of the drink slightly! It was also good but a little sweet. The Fritto misto(friend calamari) was cooked perfectly, but very greasy and the sauce that accompanied it was too mayo-y for me. The bruschetta was very good, not the best I have ever had, just so so. I was surprised, because I am a big fan of aged balsamics. I spend on average $ 40 for a bottle of the gooey delicious stuff to drizzle on my home grown heirlooms. When I saw the thickness of the balsamic on the plate my heart lept! I thought«this has to be good» I devoured a huge bite and was very disappointed in the balsamic. It was just ok. It also only came with 2 meager pieces, which was also disappointing. I will definitely be back to try the regular menu, it was still a notch above the rest with great atmosphere, unbelievable happy hour, and fair service.

I actually give this place 2 ½ stars for a baseball player he did himself alright. This resturant is really nice lot of nostalgic pictures, wine selection is excellent, hard liquor also excellent, seating is great, lil dark but so are most steakhouses, what it comes down to is the food. If your going here for appitzers I will probably give this place a 3 ½ but for steaks, this place just didnt do it for me, kinda critical when it comes to good steaks, been here twice and dont think i will go back just cause of the price and the steaks are not as good. I asked for medium rare got med well, second time around asked again for rare(hoping they get med rare) instead still came out med well, steak was tough need a sharp knife to get into it, favor was not there needed to add salt pepper and some Lea & Perrins(Worcestershire) sauce to make the meat go down. this place is good for groups really loud both times I went, parking is a pain cuz it is in north beach, I guess this would be one of those places you can just say I ate there. Sorry Joe, your restaurant has all the cosmetic stuff a steakhouse needs but the steak is made under par. =( appetizers — all apps are good customer service — excellent steak — steak is too tough wine, hard liqour, mixed drinks — very extensive collection of all, price is only factor but your in the north beach area ambiance — large pictures of our past, lil dark, roomy, loud

Sunday HH, $ 5 bar foods and drinks menu. Splendid. Live jazz band played right next to our table. Spectacular. We split up our big party since some of us wanted a table to eat off of, and some of us wanted the couch. We averaged a plate a person, ordering the fritto misto, calzone, and three pizzas. I was fairly surprised when we finished it all! I like deals. And good drinks for reasonable prices. And good food. So I like Joe’s.

Happy Hour: 3−6pm daily. 3-closing Sundays. $ 5 appetizers and pizzas. $ 5 cocktails and wine. The pizzas are delicious! And certainly a great deal! 1) Blonde pizza:( ) Love it! Shrimp, roasted peppers, artichoke, chili flakes. Ooey gooey cheese. Hint of spiciness. Delish! 2) Pizza Smoked Chicken:( ) Sun-dried tomato and chicken. Also delish! 3) Baked Cambozola Cheese:( ) Flat bread served with roasted garlic, sun-dried tomato tapenade and cambozola cheese. The cambozola cheese is slightly milder than gorgonzola cheese. Great presentation and dish. 4) Sausage Calzone:( ) Filled with sausage and onions. Served with pesto, parmesan cheese and marinara sauce. Soft dough shell. Tasty but a bit small. 5) Fritto Misto:( ) Fried calamari served with fried onion strings. Calamari was nicely fried, except there were more onions than calamari. Will definitely come back for happy hour! =)

It’s a Sunday afternoon. It’s foggy out and nothing’s going on. I don’t want to deal with the bar crowd. I want a cocktail and a salad or something light without spending a lot of cash. Sounds like a DiMaggio’s kind of day! Happy Hour is an all day event on Sunday’s starting at 3pm. $ 5 cocktails and appetizers(including my favorite chop salad –http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/DF3autLpzryZfWiJUyFUQw?select=DYqegFn-n8BV5FuPONR0-w and a selection of pizza’s). Chalk that up with the charming ambiance, comfortable seating, fun and attentive staff and it’s a no brainer! Love this place.

I enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant. The dimmed lighting made us a bit sleepy after we finished with our food though but it is perfect for a romantic setting. I loved listening to the sounds of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in the background with the company of a group of 10 good friends and red wine that was passed around. the dark black/red décor and furniture made the place look very sleep and posh. The old-school picture frames accentuated the unique venue this restaurant was trying to achieve indeed. We were seated by the window and had a beautiful view of the church and park across the street. This is what makes me love San Francisco! Service was exquisite. They catered to each of our needs. Bread: Foccacia and french(the bread was a bit harder than usual for my taste. i like them super warm and soft) $ 26 Swordfish with smashed polentas, asparagus, topped with spinach and cherry tomatoes. (I thought the polenta could of been a bit more flavorful and the fish was very well cooked. A bit of more sauce would of made it just perfect since I like to dip my forkful of fish with some sauce. instead i had to conserve!) I also got to taste some of my friend’s dishes and sides: — Braciole: «have some baby cow kathy!!» as my friend was trying to feed me. It was really good and tender. I was impressed and was wanting more! The sauce that was seasoned in, complimented the side orders very well. — filet mignon: medium rare. very juicy but not as tender as what I’ve had in the past. For around $ 40-$ 45 here, I think i would rather get steak at Ruth Chris or Morton’s. — sauteed spinach: very well cooked — sauteed marsala mushrooms It’s always fun to dine in North Beach. such a romantic italian flavored setting. and if you are not too tired, you can always hop onto Broadway with the choices of. feeling sexy? Go to Strip Clubs feeling down and dirty? Night clubs, bars and lounges ready and packed with sexy people for you to meet!

Either our waiter really liked us or they always pour very large portions of wine by the glass… I tried the warm goat cheese salad and mussels which were both great. I still highly support Joe DiMaggio’s Sunday though with $ 5 specials on food and drinks in the bar area!
