Most comments here are from people who tried their crepes… BUT what about having a comment from someone who used to part time there when it first began? First, owners Atsushi and Peter are wonderful, honest, hardworking, joyful people you ever met. happy people make great meals… i used to help them as a cashier during my college days. (food truck was something new that i wanted to try and their positive energy) The shift is a whole process from getting in the organic food & fruits washing them, cleaning the whole cabins… THEY R very particular about CLEANLINESS. they have «A «and every crêpe be served FRESH as it gets and if there are errors as customers change their minds last minute they are given new ones @ no cost with a smile & an apology. Atsushi’s smile is very contagious including Peters who works behind. Every tip collected was honestly passed on to the team working and they wouldn’t take a single penny! While working there my favourite was Harajuku (veg) & Arabiki Sausage Crêpe, Okonomi Crêpe (non veg), however you can always customize your crepes and not to forget the Ramune drink (japanese cold drink) or the desserts on the sides. They are FRESH as it gets and sourced locally. Come a long way and we had our goodbyes as their routes changed so did my school days, most imp i relied on bus :-(Wish them luck @ with love Danny

I saw their truck at the Mountain view Off the grid event and decided to give them a try. We ordered the «Strawberry Shortcake Crêpe». It was well put together in a cone shape and tasted great. One thing I would point out is that their sponge cake inside the crêpe could have been a little better.
Overall a good experience and would come back for more next time I see them around.

Yummy! Imagine a lovingly prepared soft warm crêpe, rolled into a cone shape, then filled with delightful fruit, ice cream, nuts and topped with a sweet fruit drizzle and you have a JShack Beery Delight, it’s so delish! In fact it was so good that I immediately went back and got the Akujobi! These guys are good, they make everything fresh so it takes a minute but it’s so totally worth it. The service is spectacular, polite and professional. You couldn’t ask for more!
They also have savory crêpe fillings with a distinctly Japanese pàllâttè so you really have to try these out to blow your mind!

We hired J-​Shack to serve crepes at our wedding after-​party. I cannot say enough good things about them.
Atsushi, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. He was really easy to communicate with over email and in person. He was responsive and clear and thorough in his communication. I had a lot of questions throughout the whole process and he quickly and thoroughly answered each and every one of them.
J-​Shack also took care of dealing with getting the permit to park the food truck and posting signs a few days before on the parking spots to notify drivers ahead of time. This was really helpful and took a huge load off my shoulders and we had a lot to deal with right before the wedding already.
To pick which crepes we wanted to serve our guests, we dropped by J-​Shack at Off the Grid with a small group of friends who were going to help us pick. I let Atsushi know that we’ll be arriving that day and when I came by and introduced myself, he took some of his busy time to quickly chat with me about options (they had a lot of people waiting for crepes already) and said that the tasting would be on the house, which was very nice. All of our friends loved the tasting and so we took some more time after they closed to chat about options.
On the day of the event, they arrived on time to set up (1 hour before) and were ready to serve crepes before the guests even got there (I was fortunate to get first dibs since I was already there :)). Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the crepes; they loved them and kept on coming back for more. The crêpe truck was stationed right outside of the club entrance (where the event was being held), so throughout the entire night there was always a group of people who either just got there or went back for some fresh air and seconds around the food truck.
I should mention that there were about 100 people at our event. We actually weren’t sure of the exact number that was going to arrive and Atsushi was very good with helping us plan for a range — we set a min and max number of crepes to serve.
Also, at first I was a bit worried that guests might have to wait for the crepes for too long if for some reason a large group arrives at the same times and wants food or goes outside for seconds. However, this didn’t seem to happen. They had 3 people working in the truck — 1 that took orders and 2 that made crepes. Every time I went outside, I didn’t notice any long lines for ordering or getting crepes. Guests were given crepes within a few minutes and could use those few minutes of waiting to get some fresh air and socialize with others who are outside, so it actually worked out really well.
Thanks again for being so easy to work with, Atsushi, making delicious crepes and helping us celebrate and make our special night unforgettable! We look forward to having some more of your delicious crepes soon.

I like the crêpe idea. having hand held food at a food truck for mobility is key. However execution is another thing. Got the okonomiyaki and curry crepes. They came out nicely rolled but eating them even sitting down with both hands proved messy. I liked the curry crêpe and sausage but the okonomiyaki flavors didnt really come across with all the ingredients. I guess in this case simpler is better. 3.5 stars

YUMMY! I got the strawberry cheesecake flavor with additional matcha ice cream in replacement of whip cream. The crêpe is very soft and chewy, thin layers — super easy to eat. The combo of all just melts perfectly in your mouth. Sponge cake included in this crêpe is sooo good!
I wanna try okonomiyaki crêpe but was in the mood for something sweet. Will definitely try that instead next time!
The guy that took my order was SO NICE too! Super friendly, lots of smiles. Makes the food taste even better :))))) overall a good Japanese crêpe. And it comes in a truck! How can life get any better???
Be mindful parking is kind of difficult. Tried to park at costco but always worried that somebody might tow me, but really doe people come to costco for hours so how do you know?

The Japanese Curry Crêpe is maybe the best crêpe I’ve ever eaten! So soft and flavourful. I definitely recommend it. The staff are super sweet too :)

It was Friday and we had J-​Shack food truck catering for lunch.
I got their Arabiki Sausage Crêpe and it’s extremely delicious! I’ve never had such a delicious, savory crêpe other than the ones in Japan town in SF. There’s some lettuce that’s inside the crêpe along with the sausage. It has their special dijon mayonnaise and the crêpe was really soft. It didn’t taste too oily and it really has that freshness feeling. My food diet has changed so much that I can’t eat certain types of food, but this crêpe totally gave me a different feeling.
If anyone wants to have a healthy lunch, I highly recommend J-​Shack to be catered to their office. It’s very delicious and I can guarantee you that you won’t regret it! :)

This truck has a great variety of both sweet and savory crepes! The sweet crepes offer many options for fruits, ice cream, sauce, etc. Their savory crepes had some interesting ingredients that I’ve never tried in a crêpe, so I got the Japanese Curry Crêpe with sausage. Inside, there was a spring salad mix, sliced up sausage, chopped deviled eggs, and that classic, delicious Japanese curry sauce.
I loooove Japanese curry and thought the sauce was excellent. The sausage kinda tasted like a regular hot dog to me, but I could tell it wasn’t just a hot dog (if that makes sense lol). The deviled eggs added an interesting texture to the crêpe, though I thought it wasn’t really necessary in the crêpe. The crêpe itself was the soft and mushy kind. It’s not my favorite and I think I would have preferred a more crispy crêpe with these types of fillings.
The overall taste of the crêpe was pretty good, but I didn’t think this truck was anything special. Did have to wait a little while to order and get the crêpe. I think if you’re already a fan places like Sophie’s or Japanese crepes in general, you would love this place! :]

I love Japanese style crepes. I had some in Harajuku a few years ago and have been longing for some, luckily Sophie’s crepes (In Jtown SF) can suffice for now! I was disappointed with J shack. The crepes consistency lacked texture and taste. I got a Harajuku with ice cream and it was melting everywhere and the crêpe was WAY too SOFT! The texture was off, could hardly taste custard or bananas and the chocolate was way too sweet and artificial, and I was not happy afterward. To be fair it was the end of the night but the line was so long I assumed it to be amazing but was sadly it was not. I will try again in a few months and hopefully I will be happier! I’m still rooting for you J shack!

Saw them at Winter Walk in SF!!! I got the crêpe sandwich and my daughter got the strawberry shortcake.
Both were very good and because they were rolled into a cone… very easy to eat.
For the price and quality… it was great!!!

I ordered the sausage curry crêpe yesterday. It has deviled eggs (yum!), Japanese curry, spring greens, and Arabiki sausage inside. What a treat! It was all very good. Very balanced meal with balanced flavors. Can’t wait for this truck to come by again ^_^

Finally caught this place at school last Thursday, ended up trying my own crêpe and decided to have it with yogurt, white chocolate sauce, and strawberries.
The crepes are a decent portion size, unlike some other food trucks that barely give you anything. Toppings are distributed evenly and in the right amounts so I was able to taste everything I had asked for. The topping selection is decent, though more fruit options would be appreciated for the sweet crepes.
Prices are fair, nothing exceptional, but not overpriced considering the operating costs they likely have.
Overall, great sweets! Having plenty of options for making your own crêpe means I’ll be coming back next time they stop by.

This is one of my favorite food trucks in San Francisco. Their crêpe’s remind me of the ones I always got in Harajuku! My boyfriend and I went to Off The Grid in Haight last Thursday and we were looking for a dessert option. When I saw that this truck served Japanese-​style crêpes, I had to try it. We made our own crêpe and put in whipped cream, nutella, strawberries, bananas, and dutch chocolate ice cream. It was absolutely delicious! We devoured but savored every bite. The crêpe was thin, fluffy, and perfectly crusty on the edges. I’m definitely going to come back to try their savory crêpes! Also, the guy who took our order was really nice. Great food and great service. Can’t be beat!

I caught J-​Shack when they were at Off The Grid Fort Mason. I knew that they were known for their dessert crepes, but what caught my attention was how unique their savory crepes sounded. One of them was a Okonomiayki Crêpe and another one was a ham and deviled egg Sandwich Crêpe. The one I ordered was their Arabiki Sausage Crêpe. Probably because it sounded cool.

On paper it sounded good, but this crêpe however, while filling, was a little underwhelming for me. I think it had to do with mine having mostly salad inside with just a few cuts of sausage and the deviled eggs were barely noticeable. I probably would’ve been better off trying one of the other two savory crepes.
Yeah, so the savory crepes might not be their forte, but I know for sure that their dessert crepes will be worth it. I’ll have to go back and try them and maybe they will convince me to upgrade their rating.

We got to try a J-​Shack crêpe at the J-​Pop festival because it was one of the few places without a crazy line (still about 20 – 30 minute wait). This was not bad, not terrible. It’s nice that you can create-​your-​own, which you can’t do at the crêpe place inside the Japantown mall.

The crêpe was soft and this was good overall. I liked the flavor of the green tea ice cream — a fairly strong presence of that bitterness. The ice cream’s texture was a little bit icy though.

I love crepes and have a hard time finding good crepes in the Bay Area. This place has both savory and sweet crepes, but I think that they excel at their sweet ones vs. the savory ones. The crêpe batter is also great — not too thick and gummy.
The Okonomi Crêpe ($ 9) has pork, shrimp, cabbage, bean sprouts, and other seasonings /​sauces. The proportion of the cabbage to meat was off, and I felt like I was eating more cabbage with mayo /​sauce than anything else. I wasn’t particularly impressed with this crêpe. It was interesting to try, but I prefer something a little more substantial, and balanced. For $ 9, I’d rather have a sandwich or something else.
The Harajuku Favorite Choco-​Banana-​Custard ($ 7.50) was more up my alley. It was essentially like a banana cream pie. The custard was delicious, fresh, and not too sweet. It’s a bit messy to eat, but I loved it and wanted more. I’d definitely recommend this and get it again.
I’d come back here for more sweet crepes and I may give the savory ones one more shot. It’s nice to see different flavors than just your standard crêpe flavors and nutella + strawberries or nutella + banana, or variations of cheese and meat /​veggies.
All in all, it’s a great food truck and worth visiting if you have a sweet tooth.

Love this place! I tried their crêpe during the J-​pop festival and I’ll definitely get crepes from here again the next time I see them.
I had a Belgian Sensation with Vanilla Ice Cream (Banana, Belgian Biscoff Cookie Spread, Whipped Cream, Chocolate Drizzle). Their crêpe was just the right texture for me (not too hard but firm enough to hold its shape). All the ingredients mixed really well too because they spread out everything evenly instead of clumping them in the center :)

Location: Found them at upper haight during the off the grid meet up! It was their first time there!
Customer Service: We got to this truck literally 15min before all the food trucks were closing shop! The guy taking the orders was just sooooo nice. You know when you come across somebody thats just genuinely a nice person and you can just tell that they’re real this is the guy! No matter how long the line was, and I could only imagine how these nights go with such a variety of a crowd and so much work to do, this guy was just so welcoming! So nice and he didn’t rush us on our order either! His smile was contagious and I’m not saying this in a flirtatious way at all, it was just his over all aura and vibe that reminds you that there are still genuinely nice people in this world lol!!! It looked like a family affair an older woman and older man making the food behind him so I’m assuming it’s a family affair! Cooking mama and pops in the back and possibly their son taking the orders! And they’re real deal Japanese!

How did the food taste?: Harajuku Favorite Choco-​banana Custard was what my friend and I got with Turkish chocolate ice cream!!! Yummmmy and the crêpe was cooked perfectly, it had the right crisp and everything from the ice cream to the custard, bananas, chocolate, etc was just the best dessert after all of our food truck fillings! This dessert ended our food trip on a good note!
Overall Experience: It was great! I wish nothing but the best for this business! I hope they go a long way!
