Good for taking your hunger away… I guess. Went to this food tent during a festival. All the egg rolls were so fried, and they were more skin than filling. I got the three item combo for $ 12, running a bit expensive since you can get a sandwich for half that and call it lunch. Especially since most of it was rice. Not exotic, just plain white flavorless. I wonder if maybe I got charged too much and was supposed to go for the 2 item combo with rice. Either way the server didn’t say anything about it. Except«Yes, 12.» There was two kinds of noodles, neither vegetarian. Both had the same meat too. For me, it was a good thing there wasn’t much pork and the pieces were tiny. Don’t want their little business to do badly just because of my review, but, guess because it’s all meat and it’s not grass fed I feel better.

This is my first time not liking Filipino food. I have never really been too picky about it. To me it is simple comfort food that is hard to mess up. I decided I wanted some Filipino food today on my way to work and found this place on Unilocal.I got the 2 items combo: dinguan and chicken adobo. Taste was bland, food was slightly cold(I ate it about 5 – 10 mins after picking it up), and the rice was lumpy/clumpy. The dinguan had way too many pieces of just fat… thick nasty pieces of fat with no meat on it. When I walked in the girl was rolling up raw meat lumpias… didn’t wash her hands and helped me get my food.

Irma’s turned out the bomb breakfast this morning. We had the crispy Bangsilog, tasty Tocilog, delicious Longsilog, fresh hot Lechon, Lumpia Shanghai. and a couple pieces of Ukoy fried heaven. There was such a variety of things that we didn’t sample today too. saving it for next time. Quote from Boogie, «I feel like it’s my Birthday!» Extra points for being a family joint: Baby still sleeping in the corner :) I remember the playpen days.

The San Francisco I love is in full effect! Ethnic, edgy, slightly grungy.. Though I have seen this down-home mom and pop several times over the years and heard rave reviews from several Filipinos, I had never visited. But when you’ve been dancing samba in the hot sun from 8am to 3pm, you desperately need carbs, a clean bathroom, and a place to sit and relax. My dance sisters and I with our respective families all visited Irma’s for a very late lunch. My daughter devoured her veggie lumpias. I ordered a two-item combo(much too big for a mom and small child; next time we’re getting a one-item combo) of chicken adobo, chicken curry, and steamed rice. The food was good. My orange Fanta was cold and sweet. We chatted among ourselves but also watched a telenovela featuring a shady drag queen and the Filipino version Family Feud. Definitely met all our exhausted dancer expectations.

The BEST in the Bay… Amazing lumpia, and the best staff in any eatery I’ve been to.

Been going here on average once a week for probably 6 months now. Consistently delicious food. Service can be lol and the place isn’t pretty but it’s just perfect for the type of food. Much Better than kababayan

I do yoga most saturdays on Mission and 16th and often head for the night to Nicasio(West Marin) to jam music with friends for the night. We do pot luck, so after yoga, i usually pick up 3 dozen lumpia(hand made to order $ 3⁄12), and 4 chicken skewers. Total comes out to less than $ 20, and sooo good. Always a hit with the band for apps before we play. I’ve had everything on the menu, and love bfast at Irma’s, but just calling out… if you’re heading to pot luck party, these are a couple items that are just awesome and always a hit. Don’t forget a few to-gos of the sweet sauce for dipping the lumpia!

No matter how average everything else is at this place, my coworkers love ordering Turon from Irma’s. The caramelized banana wrapped in lumpia wrapper and deep fried is the only way we know to end a potluck on a high note. We usually get a full tray of golden fried bananas for a measly price of $ 25 and it’s good for 15 people with many extras to take home. I would like to think I have a stomach of steel since I’ve actually been inside the restaurant and their cleanliness is definitely questionable. Also, since this is near the 16thBART station, you get questionable characters hanging around the area too. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Well yes it’s a little dodgy but you can’t beat the price and the taste. Great to buy and go. Things to try: Fried lumpia … Total hit at any party, I personally like the vegetable v the pork. They also have a party platter for $ 120 that will get you through feeding about 25 people at a party.

I enjoyed this place while in SF. Great selection of food and very inexpensive. The place lacks hospitality. But, the food is decent!

Love this place! Not the most attractive restaurant(no décor, very plain restaurant) but the food is mostly delicious! I had the tinola, menudo, and tocilog and all were great! The Shanghai was ok. Staff was friendly.

It was one of those experiences that you know is «authentic» when you finish ALL of your chicken adobo(because it was that good), only to find a thumb sized cockroach crawling up the seat across from you. yes, ill be coming back!

I stop in there every now and then. The sisig and adobo is decent; parking can be a little hard to find and make sure to hide your belongings in your vehicle. This neighborhood is kinda sketchy. Lots of seating, always.

Paid 8.50 for a big heap of plain white rice and a bit of meat. Not a great deal but the meat was good.

Old dingy place — legit — not sure I’d return. Chicken skewer was overly sweet and reminiscent of ketchup.

I always go to Irma’s if I need a party tray of lumpia in a hurry. They take same day orders, I know this as I always seem(although unintentionally) to be placing my large lumpia order last minute. The lumpia is always ready at your requested time of pick up with a side of sweet n sour sauce. Their lumpia comes crunchy, hot, and very well seasoned. Only downside is that they accept cash only… so just come prepared!

$ 10 will get you a good, hearty meal with Tita Irma’s! She is a really cool lady! Lunch time here gets busy, but the turnaround of customers eat quick, so you will always find a seat. She has many locals that dine here and it’s fun to chat with them. She is on the corner of 16th and South Van Ness, only a block away from the 16th Bart Station. She also does party tray. I recommend her Shanghai Lumpias and her BBQ. Give her 48 hours notice, and she’ll get it ready for ya in a jiffy! Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Yikes have to downgrade my rating. First the lady serving behind the counter is not the happiest of all people. I don’t think she’s Irma, but maybe Irma’s long-suffering sister who hates her. Really bad service. Second, since I’ve been back multiple times, I find the food can be hit or miss. But mostly miss. It’s turo-turo so the food sits there maybe all day, and maybe into the next day and the next, etc. The quality is questionable. After this last visit, we may not go back for a while. Most of the food we had seemed old. And esp the candy we bought. OMG I almost threw up. It may have expired last year. maybe. Too bad because I really loved Irma’s the first few times, and so convenient to me being downtown. Guess I’ll have to make that trip to Daly City again for better Filipino food. Or Kusina ni Tess downtown!
