The servers are great and friendly, especially Kerry. Nice sushi bar. Some rolls are inconsistent. Their happy hour is sooo inexpensive. Choose wisely and go from 3 – 6 and you possibly can get a 5 * experience– but not always.

If you think buffet sushi is bad, wait till you try this place. Have you ever had nigiri with freezing cold rice? Well I have. Miso soup tastes like salt water. Would not recommend.

I’ve been here twice, once a year or so ago and it wasn’t bad. The service was good and the sushi was fine. Last week I came back and it was awful. From the edamame to the miso soup, to the sushi everything was a little off. The edamame tasted strange and seemed old. The miso tasted bland and like it was from an instant package. The rolls we got also had a weird taste. Overall I felt feeling grossed out and like I had just wasted my money. They were also burning some kind of incense which just seemed strange and kind of unappetizing. I hate to bash them, but it was really bad.

We’ve been coming here for years and we keep coming back regularly. Definitely highly recommended! The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is very nice. I don’t usually take time to write reviews but i was shocked to see these 1 star ratings. We’ve been here so many times. This is a very nice and friendly restaurant and we’ve never had an unpleasant experience. If you give it a try you won’t be disappointed! Happy holidays!

I have been there twice. Both time for To-Go. First time, I didnt wait long before getting my order in a plastic bag. When I got home, everything was messed up and I did not really like it. The second time, I used grubhub and asked for no eggs in my entrée. When I got there, my order was still not ready or even started cause they wanted to be sure about the eggs. whatever. There was a strong smell(some people might like it, some would not), and I wait something like 10minutes for a donburi. I got my plastic bag and got home(1 block away). When I got home, the donburi was totally messed up because the box wasnt closed. As a resultat, there was sauce everywhere, the miso soup was everywhere in the bug. Anyway. I don’t really like that place, I would probably not go there again, even though it’s a pretty cheap place.

Big bento. An old Winamp theme: An awesome Ichiraku meal: Ichi bento box comes with edamame, spicy seafood salad(tuna) roll, orange slice, nigiri, rice, chicken teriyaki, miso soup and tea. Still using Winamp all these years later. Still was working my way through lunch so many minutes later. Perhaps not the highest quality ingredients but the $ 12 price(including tax/tip) and great service make this place worth keeping around too.

This review is for their lunch. I was in Richmond, searching for for a sushi place that was open during the odd time of 2−3pm. Tanuki has decent sushi but they were closed. I come in with my mom and the place is deserted. The hostess promptly brought over two hot green teas and miso soups. The miso soup didn’t have any seaweed in it and the tofu was skimpy but I ain’t about to complain about free stuff. We each ordered the sashimi lunch special, 10 pieces for $ 13.50, and a seaweed salad to share. The plates came out and each piece of sashimi was humongous and delicious. It was three pieces each of salmon, tuna and yellowtail and one piece of white tuna. Each piece required two bites and each bite was tasty and fresh. The lunch special also comes with a bowl of rice so I was stuffed by the time I finished. Overall good experience and great value for the amount of food we had. The place is decently large, looks good for big groups to come for happy hour. I’m not into froufrou fusion sushi so this place is perfect for me. I’d come back and order a sashimi plate every time and be happy.

I routinely ate here for lunch. Apparently there are new owners and now the quality just isnt the same. I don’t think they have a sushi chef. The sushi rice is cold like it’s been in a fridge. Flavor isn’t there. I think it’s premade The place is empty at normal lunch time. Probably find another lunch place

Consistently this place is good, but it always seems like we’re a bother to the wait staff. Otherwise, it’s a great little place and their happy hour specials are definitely worth hitting. As far as the service is concerned, I get it… most people come in, get their bento box and free hot tea and they’re gone for $ 10+grat. But, not all of your customers are those people. Some of us like a la carte sushi from your fantastic sushi Chef. Some of us like to split the bento box, but start with a couple of rolls or get a couple of rolls after the bento box, have some sake, beer and maybe even a scoop of green tea ice cream. You do it right with the food and the beverages and the pricing is great. If you’d get the service staff to make me feel like I’m not an inconvenience I think I’d come back a lot more often. Just sayin’…

Sushi rolls were way too big and tasted off and we only ordered veggie sushi. Based in that I’d never order fish here . The veggie roll had some frozen ice in it. Sorry but I would never return here. You’re better off picking up sushi from a grocery store than eating here.

Ok… I LOVE sushi. FRESH sushi. Sadly, the sushi here isn’t fresh at all. It was soooo fishy tasting I couldn’t eat it. Yes I know, sushi is fish, so it’s supposed to taste fishy. Wrong. Good sushi doesn’t have that bad fishy smell or taste. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and salmon nigiri. I was really disappointed. Had one bite and that was it. :( The waiter was nice. The place itself was kind of empty and there were some annoying flies buzzing around. Won’t be coming back.

This place is good deal if you’re craving Japanese food for lunch. Their lunch special bento boxes are just $ 8.95 and you can choose between three items, which come with rice and miso soup. I went for a crab roll(four pieces), tonkatsu, and beef teriyaki. That’s a pretty good variety for just $ 9 and the serving sizes are pretty generous. They have three columns of items you can choose from. They also gave us a bunch of free appetizers for the table. We got salmon teriyaki and spicy crab salad, enough for all nine people. At the end we all got free green tea ice cream. The total came out to around $ 12 per person including a nice tip, which is pretty fair for the filling bento boxes and the free appetizers. For service, the woman who worked here was really on top of it and did her job well and she was really nice to our group. The young man(looked to be early 20s) seemed a bit confused in what he was doing and handed a few things to the wrong people.

Wow, they treat you like royalty here! –Brother My former roommates and I would come here every Sunday! We called this place our«default»! Oh, the good old days of apt 325! Anyway, had dinner here with the bro and he was amazed at the amount of food they gave us… for free. They gave us some fish appetizer and the chef even made a special jalapeño sushi roll… spicy and yummy! The sushi is fresh and tasty. I noticed they raised their prices since my undergrad days, but I figured it’s cause they remodeled. They have nicer looking plates, the walls are clean, and they have Christmas lights hanging on the ceiling, so it looks like stars. Looks so cute! The downside to the remodel is the higher cost for the sushi and the restroom is a porter potty outside… for now! Will definitely be back… it is our default! Love my former roomies! 325! 325! 325!

The sushi is delicious. Well, they have customized a lot on the flavor, but it is delicious.
