The food was good, but my wife found hair in her food. I noticed the cooks were not wearing hats or hair nets, which explains the hair in the food. I know accidents happens, but reading through other reviews this seems like a recurring problem.

Amazing little diner! Great food! Fast service and table turn around time. If we ever make it back to San Fransisco I would definite go back! The pancakes are amazing!!!

Ugh. So good. Got a chicken avocado sandwich, would definitely recommend. My friend got the 99 Problems and felt it had too much onion, but was still great. Line wasn’t long around 10am on Sunday, and it moved quickly.

Depending on the day, breakfast out in San Francisco is a nightmare! Homeskillet does an adequate job at moving people in and out. On this weekend the line was out the door and around the corner by 9:30am, the wait for a party of four was 15⁄20 minutes. We came here by default, based on the outrageous line and wait down the street. Our experience was ‘interesting.’ As we were placing our orders, a homeless man pushed his way through the line and stole the tip jar. Hello?! The breakfast fare is very average. My youngest had the sugar mamma pancakes, which were good(B), and the rest of us had the old fashion breakfast(C+) which allows for some customization in what you get and how they serve it, the food was just okay. Other strange things to look for… when it gets busy they are understaffed, so there is no true table service, you get put at a table and they deliver your food, but that’s it. Despite a huge line, they are slow to clean and clear tables. As we sat at our table, my daughter looked up to discover that almost all the light bulbs are burned out, 17 out of 22, file that under peculiar. Overall this was just Okay, cost was around $ 15/person.

Dotties was too full and that might’ve been lucky for us. Great breakfast food– great coffee here! A little pricey but I’m finding that to be the case everywhere in San Francisco.

Honestly, for the money this place is great. I sat down after putting in my order and within 5min had my food. Eggs were cooked as I asked, toast was nicely toasted as well as perfectly fluffy, and the bacon was crispy like it should be. Also, a killer iced latte to boot. Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is no Cholula hot sauce. None the less, come here, you won’t be disappointed.

This is a cool spot to hit right before the grape vine. It’s a buffet but a good one. They really do a good job on making southern fried food and have fresh salad. I’m a sucker for places like this but also I take it personal if the food is terrible. But this place is awesome! I highly recommend that you chill and eat here if you got the time.

This place gets really busy in the morning. Originally tried to go to another restaurant on same block, but this was less of a wait. However, we should have passed and waited in line at the other restaurant because my mother’s omelette had a hair in it. This is not the end of the world, but the low rating is reflective of other things like the line being too long, the cleaning staff not busing the tables quickly enough, and the tables and chairs too close together that every time someone needs to get by, you have to constantly move your chair otherwise they won’t make it through. It was chaotic inside. One person taking all the orders. No one really overseeing the dining area, other than bringing out food. Feels very understaffed. Would not recommend if looking for a peaceful breakfast experience. Don’t be fooled by their OJ. Not fresh squeezed.

Food was ok but the staff is not friendly. It’s a great spot to look at all the weird ass people walking by… One more thing, it smells like piss because of all the homeless people around there.

Used to come here all the time on my way to work for their dirty chai latte and I’m happy to say that it still tastes the same :] I’ve only had their breakfast here and I’ve enjoyed it all from their veggie omelets to their egg benedicts, and I don’t like pancakes but their chocolate chip pancakes are yummy! Never tried their pastries but I’m going to have to try their vegan donut next time. Docked a star because their hot sauce bottles are all sticky and the prices here are a bit steep but I suppose the portion size makes up for it.

Best! Best brunch ever. Seriously amazing little café. They do really good coffees and anything can be modified. The service is really super fast and the prices are reasonable for being in this location. It is upscale nice without the hella crazy prices. I had the best omelet and toast and cappuccino ever.

I’ve been here twice — after attempts to eat at Dotties left me wondering trying to find a place to eat that wouldn’t take 2 hours to get food at. I’m glad I found it! The ordering process is super easy and straight forward — they also have an espresso machine and can make actual coffee drinks vs just offering drip. The food arrives promptly and is delicious. Ask for your hash browns extra crispy!

I thought this place was alright — I went with a buddy and tried a few different items: — Breakfast sandwich — Ground Beef Omelet — Blueberry/Cream Cheese Croissant Everything tasted fairly average. The Ground Beef Omelet was probably my favorite item — it was a good portion of food and left one satisfied. My least favorite thing were the hashbrowns that arrived with a couple of the dishes — really dry and flavorless. I’d try this place again, but I’d go for lunch just to see what the offerings are like.

I came to Homeskillet with my friend for a midday brunch during the work week. Unfortunately, we didn’t know that brunch ends at 12 pm and at 12:30, we could only order from the lunch menu(sandwiches and burgers mostly). I was looking forward to an eggs benedict and tots and I was disappointed! :( We ordered the fried pork sandwich with garlic fries and another sandwich that I can’t remember the name of… Haha. The fried pork sandwich was good, it had pulled pork and veggies. I chose BBQ sauce for a classic combo. The meat was good and spilled over onto the plate from the bread. The garlic fries were just plain french fries smothered in garlic and oil… They were garlicky and hot, but the bottom of the dish was very oily and made them look unappetizing. The pool of oil made it seem like they just fried the garlic in oil and poured both the garlic AND the oil over the fries… Therefore too much oil. The other sandwich had turkey, melted cheese, and a cranberry sauce. It was good except I wasn’t aware that it was super spicy! The bread was delicious though, very crunchy and buttery. Overall an ok place for lunch. I wouldn’t come back for the sammies but the benedicts are still very appealing! Maybe if I can walk there from work before 12… Haha.

This place is perfectly located for people who literally can’t even with the line at Dottie’s. Reminiscent of greasy diners, but in a comfortable fast casual setting. Great for folks who enjoy eating breakfast for lunch, because why shouldn’t you have brunch(minus the mimosas) during the workday? 99 Problems: I feel like I should include some witty Jay-Z reference, but I won’t. Super tasty mishmash of so much fatty goodness. Flavorful ground beef, crispy hash brown bits, gooey cheese, two fried eggs, sour cream and lots of onions. It all meshes together for a very rich and indulgent breakfast. I’d suggest looking under the eggs and mixing up everything a bit before you dig in. The sautéed onions were all in a pile and were a bit overwhelming by themselves. Also, the cheese clump tended to be isolated in certain quadrant as well. I opted for an everything bagel and cream cheese as my side bread. Definitely tasty, but I could only finish half since the main plate was so intense. Pomegranate Limeade: Refreshing. Tart, but not too sour. The acidic nature is a perfect way to cut the fatty richness of the 99 problems.

5 stars for their delicious French toast! This place is located around the corner from Dottie’s, and not nearly as populated. I was able to walk right in and place my order. This will definitely be my go-to place for French toast when on my way to work/have a hankering for some good eats. Gotta love the greasy spoon places. I feel like they’re a dying breed here, so I must support them(at least on principle alone) Likes: –fast service(for those looking for a quick bite to eat on your way into work) –French toast is DELISH! Highly recommend –located near BART –variety of tea and coffee offerings, in addition to quick foods like bagels, etc(I think they also offer a yummy doughnut, but didn’t see it the day I was there) –reasonable(given prices for food in the city) –accepts both cash and credit Dislikes: –located on a pretty grimy corner(but still walkable) –walking/BART is probably fastest way to get here… don’t bother looking for parking(there’s virtually none on Market street)

(My 200th review, whaaat?) Just a 5 minute walk from the Powell BART station and 2 seconds from the seemingly world-renown«Dottie’s» –Homeskillet delivers a hometown feel in the SF city. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and warm(scorching hot, maybe their AC was broken that day). The décor is cute and there is one table for communal seating among other small tables and counter seating against the window. Each table has a tray of hot sauces and syrup ready to use. As well as the silverware packed in cups for easy access. I ordered a vegetarian option called #hashtag which consists of 2 eggs however you want them, your choice of toast or a bagel and extra 99cents to get that with cream cheese, hashbrowns fried with onions and drizzled with sour cream. Topped off with a small avocado. I spent $ 10.88 on this meal… but it sustained my hunger pains! The taste of the food was decent. I ordered a garlic bagel with my meal but unfortunately the outer area with all the garlic was burnt to a crisp. And everyone knows what burnt garlic tastes like. The rest of the plate kinda blended together as it was all the same consistency… scrambled eggs and a mush of potatoes and onions. I was still satisfied with my meal nonetheless, and I do recommend coming here especially if you have somewhere to be. Their service is quick as you order upon entry and they bring the food out to you in about 5 minutes tops.

I have literally just consumed 2 pancakes the size of my head, I am currently on a massive sugar high from the jug of maple syrup I lashed on to the pancakes — that is my disclaimer of this review makes little of no sense. First off, beware of the Homeskillet queues — we waited for around 10 minutes to place an order and once we got to the till we were told that there wasn’t enough seats for us. So we got breakfast to go. As mentioned I had 2 huge warm pancakes with grilled banana and real peanut butter spread over the top. Despite the fact we walked back to our hotel with breakfast the pancakes were still warm, soft and ready to wolf down. It’s not very often that I don’t finish a meal but I’m ashamed to admit that in this case I bottled it. I was scared I would slip in to a food coma and miss the hotel check out time. Anyway I was impressed with Homeskillet but not blown away — great food but I would loved to have sat in for the real diner experience. Note to self, next time I visit don’t go on a Friday morning at 9am!

This place is weird. You order first at the counter, and then you go try to seat yourself. The distance from the counter to the door is quite short, so people are naturally awkwardly lining up out the door. As a result of this service, there is actually surprise, no service, apart from them delivering the food to you. The food itself is rather standard American breakfast. I got the chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and eggs. The breakfast was forgettable. The pancakes were large but a little on the darker side. The chocolate chips were also haphazardly thrown onto the top pancake, although the other pancake did have some chips embedded in the batter. The whole plate just looked funny because I thought they were just super lazy and tossed some chocolate chips on top. The whole breakfast seemed rather forgettable, and I really didn’t like how they structured their seating.
