Good location-​1 min walking distance from bart and muni/​3 bus stops from union square
(Cons; too many homeless ppl around the area)

Front desk– they really care about the customers and ready for the needs
On-​site restaurant– kids eat free (yes literally) decent food quality and service
(We had steak and grilled salmon which was so good, also free bread taste good too)

Great location!!!
Literally close to the shopping centers and bars. If you are spending the weekend in the city, ensure to get a room here!
Great service, clean rooms, delicious foods and always helpful staff when needing any ideas to do in the city.

Spend the extra $ 75/​night and stay somewhere nice. Also, HI, please don’t respond with a canned response like you do with other bad reviews.

Nice smiling clerks but comment about how my name was spelled. Bad customer service practice because lacking of training. Three ethnic back ground clerks dealing with customers.
That clerk standing around drive way didn’t even come near my car to help unload my luggages till I requested him to do that.
Lobby cactus was broken and dry.
Lots of flies in front of entrance facing 8^th street.
Haven’t seen front end manager yet.

The rooms are fine. The lobby is nice and modern. If you’re here on business, it works. If you’re here to vacation not so much. The surrounding area is what turned me off and made me switch hotels after 1 night. Just driving into the surrounding area of the hotel was when I realized I choose poorly. The amount of homeless and sketchy looking people walking the streets made me not want to walk with my kids anywhere in that area. Parking is not cheap nor abundant in San Francisco so being able to do so is important. We Moved over to Fishermans wharf area and what a difference! Clean, everything in walking distance and much better for kids and vacationers. Yes, we paid a little more but so worth it compared to where we were.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The lobby looks nice. But the rooms come with full size beds. Loud loud loud hotel! The construction workers near by will wake you up at 5am! Ambulance sirens all night long!
They hold $ 100 on your debit card for 5 – 10 business days!!! They charge $ 50 for parking .
I should have booked at the Super 8 it was $ 140 less with free parking and closer to the golden state bridge.

What a ghetto location! Homeless people and crackheads all over the place! Just a very dirty area and a bunch of weirdos. Not a good part of town to stay in. Reason being we stayed here was, of course I get discounts at Holiday Inns for the company I work for and it looked like a location where you are in the middle of everything. But was I wrong! To be honest, we were kind of scared walking around the area and trying to make it back the hotel before the sun went down. The hotel staff really nice and ALL. I would give em 4 stars but the area we were in is not a good place to stay in. In the middle of the night/​early in the morning, we kept hearing sirens. Walls were too thin and you can hear other guests. I had to turn on some sleeping mode music on my phone so I can get some sleep! But I don’t recommend staying here. Not because the service was bad but the location is really bad! I would spend a little more to stay at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Only reason I am giving it a one is because it is over priced. I showed up at night and requested a room double beds for 2 people. Best price with over night parking is 269+ tax. The area was sketchy and kept on hearing sirens overnight. The furniture is outdated. The tub looked gross like it had not been clean with a black ring. I did request extra towels and got them promptly from a friendly worker. Operator was nice and helpful to my many questions.

I’ve become a fan of the Holiday Inn brand of hotels lately, and my friend got me a great rate at this location in SF. It was a few minutes walk from a bunch of shopping I wanted to do, so that was good. Front desk staff was absolutely great upon check-​in, and he was friendly every time I saw him in the lobby. Didn’t get to use the self service laundry, but I wish every hotel I stayed at had that option. Also didn’t get to use the fitness room, but it didn’t look too bad either. Would definitely stay here again for the price I paid.

First, lets talk customer service. AMAZING!
— bell desk beat me to my room with my luggage
— took my oversized box BACK downstairs (cuz I didn’t need it) and held it for me — even bringing back the claim check and sliding it under my door
— one staff member overheard my name at the front desk and greeted me by my name my entire stay… EVEN IN HIS CIVILIAN CLOTHES
— doorman gave great suggestions for food and travel locally arrangements (they asked how did I do the next day!!)
— every experience with the staff was stellar.
My room was spacious, (and the bellman apologized for my view — it was the roof next door). The bed was comfy and really no complaints about the room.
I did not try the restaurant, but did use the business center to prints some docs —
It was my first visit — but will not be my last. I have already booked an impromptu trip later this year DEMANDED that we stay here!

Good price but you get what you pay for. Holiday Inn is my works preferred hotel. In general, I’m not a fan but, but I want to stick with the policy. Checked in last night and at first glance, the room looking like a typical Holiday Inn room. You have your average mattress and the very light comforter and sheet. I usually have to crank up the heat since the comforter does not keep me warm. In this particular room, I found several large black hairs on the side of the shower stall. If someone was doing minimal cleaning, there is no way this could have been missed. It makes me wonder what else they did not clean in the room this particular hotel appears to cater to some international travelers.

Worst stay ever!!! Do not stay at this hotel
Customer service is horrible ! Room cards never worked had to keep going to the front desk to get a new key everytime! Bath tub was clogged really shitty hotel ! Plus got charge $ 100 extra because I had extra people in my room when they were dropping me and my sister off after going out to the bars! I told them it was just us two in the room the whole time and didn’t believe me and they wiped out my bank account they are a bunch of theives ! And parking is $ 50 a night what kind of crap is that! Do not stay here everyone was so rude and ruined my birthday weekend !

Want to start off by saying customer service here was amazing. Really helpful with tips about neighbourhood, transport, San Francisco, laundry and restaurants and other touristy stuff. Even got free drink cards for the bar downstairs for amazing cocktails on arrival. Rooms were really clean and large and got cleaned everyday. They had good facilities for guests like laundry, pool restaurant etc.
2 small downsides– no open windows in room for fresh air to come in which I like– so put air con on in winter. Second the neighbourhood that it is situated in unfortunately isn’t the greatest in San Fran. Lots of homeless ppl around, smell of pot in the air and streets that smell and are dirty. However there are some good places to eat around here (bizarrely) and if you walk 3 – 4 blocks you get near union square which is great for shopping and a bit more upmarket.
If you want a quality hotel that you can trust and good customer service definitely stay here!

The hotel is okay. Nothing special, even the rooms are pretty non descript.
This would normally be a three star review but there were a couple downsides to my stay.
One, construction across the street (of a multi story concrete and steal building) starts at 7 am … with no warning or even much of a thought about putting my room as near as possible to the aforementioned construction site.
Second issue, during my two night stay there was a mass break in in the hotel parking lot (even with key carded doors and a supposed security watch, you know to check to make sure you’re paying them for parking). Can’t say how many cars wee hit, but there was mine and at least two others and easily more.
The only reason there isn’t a one star on this review is because the manager filed a police report timely and properly the morning of the incident.
In the mean time I’m out some of my personal stuff and am never coming back to the hotel.

THANK YOU HOLIDAY INN CIVIC CENTER for letting me know that good customer service still exists in hotels. I booked this place for myself and rave fam for a weekend event at the Bill Graham and was nothing but impressed. To start, I had a dilemma with my check-​in situation prior to the day of my arrival, turns out I needed to stay later than I thought in SJ and my guests were arriving to the city before me. When I called to add my friend to my reservation, the employee over the phone was so helpful and explained everything about their policy concerning the check-​in process to me so clearly. He assured me they would do everything to help my friends get checked into the room, even though I would be arriving later.
When I got to the hotel, I liked how they had self-​parking (I personally just don’t like dealing with the chaos of valet parking with tons of other ppl trying to park at the same hotel) I was able to quickly get a spot and proceed to their front lobby. When I approached the desk, the employee quickly remembered my name and issued me my key. They even upgraded my room since I’m in the IHG rewards program and gave us late check out (11am to 2pm!) So many good vibes — and I didn’t even see the room yet!
Throughout the entire weekend all the employees we passed by greeted us with a smile. When I called for more towels or other toiletries, they brought it up to my room within minutes; since it was daylight savings time that weekend, they even sent us a letter reminding us of the time change! And when I was having a difficult time exciting the parking garage (after I checked out since I lost my parking pass) the worker helping me over the intercom was so nice and buzzed me out quick. Aside from their top notch customer service, their rooms shine just as much — clean, plenty of lighting, and with a security card system in place in the elevators to ensure safety for guests. I would recommend this holiday inn to anyone needing a clean, hassle free, home away from home with a staff that believes in treating you right.

Stayed here recently and I must say that given the location of the hotel, I at least felt safe once inside the lobby. The location definitely has MANY homeless people and there also happens to be a «safety brochure» IN your actual room that advises you not to open your hotel room door for anyone without calling the front desk to verify that it may be in fact a staff member, amongst other tips. The tips are all valuable, but given the brochure, the location and the fact that EVERYTHING is under lock and key, it was definitely eye opening. The location is close to a Main Street where there are ATMs etc, but be mindful that the ATMs actually have hours of operation! I’ve never seen an ATM not be in service after 8pm, which was also supportive to the overall message I was receiving in that area.
I have nothing against homeless people however I didn’t feel super safe outside the hotel. Inside the hotel I definitely felt better and the staff were all very nice and very helpful. I found the rooms clean and relaxing. I was so thankful that the hotel had a parking garage and I felt good about leaving my car parked in it. If it wasn’t for the location, I would rate this hotel higher. I just really wouldn’t recommend any females traveling alone to stay in this area and I don’t think I would venture to be out after dark. In fact, while at the ATM in broad daylight, I felt like we were seconds away from being robbed and thankfully we made a choice to get out of there rather quickly.
I love San Francisco. I’ve even stayed near Union Square quite close to the Tenderloins without feeling frightened or uncomfortable, but this trip wasn’t the same. Hotel was great. A nice little safe haven amongst a slightly questionable area.

Surprisingly this Holiday Inn really exceeded my expectations. The rave family and I needed a crash pad for the Boo! Halloween Rave at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. I would definitely pick this place over the Whitcomb any time. The location was perfect for the walking distance between the hotel and the venue. Upon arrival, the front desk guy was super welcoming and helpful when it came to checking in. The parking situation also seemed really secure, so that was great for us. As for the room, I definitely appreciate how secure everything was. You need a room key to access the floors where there are rooms in the elevator. I was also grateful for how clean everything was in the room. Overall, if you’re on Market and need a spot to crash then definitely stay here.

My experience was hell. I booked a last minute room on 07/​11/​2015 through Unilocal and even though my reservations said confirmed, no confirmation email was provided.
I called Holiday Inn to make sure my reservation was booked, I couldn’t provide a booking number because I never got one. So luckily they searched their database for last name, finally. But however, the card I used was declined 3 times. So I ended up paying the amount on another credit card at Holiday Inn $ 249.99 (with parking).
I checked my credit card statement and the reservation originally made had a pending transaction from Unilocal… I was advised to call Orbitz to make sure I wasn’t charged $ 208.99 through them. Orbitz Customer care did not have any information for my reservation. I WAS ANNOYED BY THIS TIME.
come Monday, the Unilocal charge has been deducted from my credit card of $ 208.99 SO I had to call my cc company to dispute. and that will take a while to get settled.
What I thought was going to be a decent price for a room in SF for one night at $ 208.99 turned out to be 208.99 (bogus charge) + 249.99 (Holiday in Charge) = $ 458.98
For that price I would of booked a room at the FAIRMONT!
all in all the stay and service was ok. advise: book in advance so you can figure out the flaws and get it done before your actual stay takes place.

I don’t think I can convey how awesome my experience was at this Holiday Inn.
Some back story: I used to live here, well, two blocks down actually. So driving up for any big type festival, or caltraining in is just that much worse for me, because I’m used to walking out my door and being in the thick of it.
So for this years Pride I decided to bite the bullet and finally stay «onsite» as it were, since I hate commuting with a passion.
But I am a serious not-​fan of the Holiday Inn on Van Ness.
So I was very pleasantly surprised at not only the top notch service, but the security measures taken to make my stay really quite wonderful.
When I arrived my bags were grabbed to help me through the door, check in was a breeze, and my room was spacious (for San Francisco) and the balcony was utterly fantastic — especially for my roommates to watch the parade from.
While I wouldn’t park here (the garage on Mission between 5^th and 6^th is $ 20/​day) I would most definitely stay at this Holiday Inn again.
In fact, I’ve booked it for another upcoming festival and have no doubts my experience will be fantastic. I would definitely recommend staying here for people who want to be central to anything going on in or around SOMA.

Not a 4-​star hotel but a 4-​star Holiday Inn. You know what I’m sayin’?
The lobby was well kept. It’s a full service Holiday Inn with a restaurant/​bar, gift shop, pool, fitness. It’s also pet-​friendly.
Parking is extra but I liked that the garage is accessible with a ticket you get when you check in. It’s secured with garage doors that roll up when you slide in your ticket and then it goes back down.
And more security features– your room key is needed for the lobby restrooms and your room key is needed to operate the elevator. We visited during an event in the city and they also had security in the lobby checking for room keys.
The room was standard and it came with ear plugs. There’s construction in the area. Every room has a balcony. The balcony isn’t much. You can’t even sit out there but getting out there for some air or to look around is a nice amenity. TV with a good selection of channels. No fridge. Free WiFi.
We had a good stay. Those extra security features is what made the hotel more than A-​Ok for me. I liked it and I appreciate it.
Don’t forget to tip your room attendant.
