I loved this place! Came with a friend for breakfast on a Monday morning at 9am. I had the Chicken Delight and he had the French Toast-Croissant. Felt really comfortable inside, especially since the weather outside was rainy and cold. The neighborhood around this place was quiet and soothing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone for chill-vibed breakfast with family and/or friends.

Family business. Consistently excellent. Great vibe. A little rough around the edges, which I appreciate but the food is always on point. Lots of Billie and Sachtmo on the playlist. They are known for their savory crepes, but they’ll turn any of those into a mean omelet and give you extra salad for potatoes and toast so very KETO friendly. Do yourselves a favor and head on down for a bite. A 20 minute walk up Chenery(or 3 minute drive) will get you to the hidden jem that is Glen Canyon Park where you can walk it all off.

They had croissant French toast when I came here(I’m not sure if it’s a special because it was on a small price of paper-I almost end missed it). It was hands down the best croissant French toast I have ever had! It wasn’t too soft, it had a nice mix of egg, cinnamon and other flavors. Their coffee was also very good. I was skeptical when I saw it was drop coffee, but they were busy enough that this didn’t affect the flavor. My friend had a ham-and-cheese omelette and he was happy with it(4⁄5 stars). It is however ok the pricier side. 16 dollars for each of us(entrée and coffee, with no sides).

Higher Grounds Coffee House is really a crêpe house with coffee. Always confuses me when I see it on Unilocal as I wonder, why haven’t I grabbed coffee from there before and then I realize, ah it is the crêpe place. I have visited Higher Grounds Crêpe House a couple of times now. The experience is, line up and order(bring cash!), find a seat, sit. If there is no seat, hang out until one is available. Then cross your fingers for your food too arrive. First visit was great and the food came and it was tasty. Second time, no coffee came with the other drink, so had to go up and ask, then no food came and had to go up and ask about that, turns out the order got lost… minus the one drink that arrived. Still the food was okay but did put a big negative over the experience. The bathroom is out back and you need to walk through a narrow walk way right next to the cooking plate, don’t lose balance! Overall around 3.5 stars and would normally round up but such a disappointing 2nd visit meant going the other way.

Twas meeting my cousin for a lunch date after a morning flight to SFO, so went to Unilocal for a good breakfast /brunch recommendation. Hey, anything 4-stars and above is fairly hard to find anywhere, so I thought we’d give ‘em a chance. They’re located in Glen Park — already a bohemian /hipster neighborhood with working class roots — so the look and feel of this place fits well here, and considering that they’re an institution, they’re also a good reflection of how well they’ve changed with the life/times of the ol’ neighborhood. The interior’s totally rustic-looking, but with a slight euro-country flair. Coffee bags hang from the ceiling and there is a fair amount of wood integrated with the aesthetics. Seating is super limited and super constrictive, so be patient, and someone’s bound to fly the roost! The wait was kind of long, but they were jam-packed, and since I had good coffee and great company, I cut ‘em some slack. My companion went with the Chicken Delite, which was a savory crêpe filled with spinach, mushroom, and chicken. The plate was full with the fresh salad and diced potato sides that both come with the meal. I prefer sweet crepes, and the guy recommended the one with nutella and bananas on the inside and whipped cream on the side; since I actually don’t prefer all the extra stuff, I went with a plain crêpe with just butter, cinnamon and whipped cream. Mine was good, and without all the extra stuff on the inside, too easy to slam. My cousin’s crêpe looked super good, and thought to myself that I’d try a savory one the next time. Note they take cash only, and our two items, plus a cup of coffee for the each of us, came out to 23.00+, which we fortunately scrounged. It’s well worth the money here — not just for the food, but for the experience.

Busy place on a Sunday morning. We were a bit concerned about the small seating area but by the time our food was ready we were seated. The place was vibrant and the food and service very good. I had a very tasty omelet which came with a small nicelt dressed salad.

Fan of this cute little coffee shop/breakfast spot. I got the«Basic Crêpe» and it was good :) The only thing i didn’t like about it was that the wait for our food was about 25 minutes long. and i was in a hurry. but the old man is the only cook here so be patient! :) Latte is good too.

A very small place with limited seating but well worth the wait b/c the crepes are awesome! There wasn’t really any table service. There were two young men who were taking orders and bringing out the plates and the older gentleman was cooking. Looks like a family owned business. I really liked the chilled out atmosphere. Most people came in to order take out or would sit down with their newspapers. We came here for a Sunday brunch and had their scrambled eggs special and the putanesca crepes. Very pleased with the choices. Definitely the best and most moist/flavorful scrambled eggs I have had! Side salad was refreshing. Looking forward to returning and trying the other savory and dessert crepes on their menu! Con — CASHONLY place. So make sure your wallet isn’t empty! ;-)

Sayonara Crepevine, and hellllllo Higher Grounds Coffee House! I was Unilocaling for savory crepes in the area, and Higher Grounds Coffee House was a suggestion. This cute little mom and pop shop is located in the heart of Glen Park. Higher Grounds attracts locals and people of all kinds. You’ve got your Hells Angels with their Harleys chillin’ outside with their coffee, and inside you see families and elderly couples grabbing a bite to eat. The area is super diverse and I love that. Ordering is easy. You order at the counter, find a table, and the food runner brings out your food. Btw, it’s cash only. Don’t got cash? Well you’re in luck because there’s a Wells Fargo and Bank of America ATM right next to the shop. Now on to the food. My bf and I ordered the Chicken Delight crêpe, Shrimp crêpe, and a pot of mint tea. Both crepes were delicious! It definitely hit the spot for a savory crêpe. Chicken was cooked well and wasn’t dry; it’s great with the spinach and feta cheese. The Shrimp crêpe tasted like a shrimp pizza! Portions are huge, so if you don’t have a big appetite, I recommended you sharing with another. The pot of mint tea was also lovely, it comes in loose leaf and they give you a strainer. Next time, when I have a sweet tooth, I will try their croissant French toast and other suggested crepes. Support your local small businesses!

Let’s get to the chase… should you go? YES!!! Why? For their super-bomb diggity CROISSANTFRENCHTOAST! It’s a must! I’m not big on Savory Crepes(but I am a killer of Dessert Crepes) but their CHICKENDELIGHT Savory Crêpe was good and very filling as it came with a spring salad with good vinaigrette and potatoes. They also had BLITZES which was yummy, so we ordered that. Overall, it was a nice small spot that you definitely feel receives a lot of love from the local neighborhood & community! Orange juice was good but was warm due to glass it came in just recently washed, and we had to add 2 scoops of sugar to the mexican hot chocolate, but other than that, no issues at all. Would we go back if we were in the neighborhood? Yea… sure. We would. Just know that if you go, expect to see the menu focused on CREPES since that’s the specialty!

Quaint looking little coffee shop down just down the street from Glenn Park BART with a few killer menu items. I love finding little, interesting, coffee shops in various neighborhoods and this one is a treat. This cash-only establishment is counter services and can get crowded for breakfast/brunch on weekends, but it’s well worth it. The first time I went I ordered the Alla Toscana while my wife ordered the Croissant French Toast(recommended by other Unilocalers!) and while mine was extremely good, the Croissant French Toast took the cake! Our next visit we ordered two so neither had to share.

I love this place! As tourists in San Francisco we decided to stop by for breakfast. We weren’t disappointed. I had the cheese omelette — very delicious. My wife had a cheese & onion Crêpe that was awesome as well! We also had fresh squeezed orange juice. It was the best! Definitely check the place out.. Just don’t be in a hurry they make everything from scratch.

I love this place. It is a wonderful breakfast/brunch spot. It gives you that cozy loving feeling being in the city. Finding street parking was not difficult but I also came here on a weekday. Unfortunately, they sold the last Croissant French toast and the host helped me find the most perfect strawberry crêpe I have ever had. I will definitely be returning for that French toast croissant and trying more of their wonderful creations.

Came back to try the Croissant French Toast… was not disappointed! It comes with fresh made whipped cream and some strawberries tossed in a sugar syrup and cinnamon. Loved the fact that these toppings were made fresh and in house! Mom and dad tried two different crepes. Both liked their choices — pesto for mom and milanese for dad. However, both found the dishes to be pretty big. Savory crepes comes with a fresh tossed side salad and house potatoes which, when paired with a crêpe, and a giant cup of fresh brewed coffee can get pretty hefty. 3 entrees and 3 coffees came out to $ 41. Not bad. Ambiance is as homey as I remembered. Definitely more cozy than Tyger’s across the street. Cash Only!

Came here for brunch on Saturday morning, I kept finding great places near Glen Park bart station, so convenient! This place is cash only, but luckily there are a few bank ATMs literary 20 steps away, so that’s not a hassle. The storefront is actually small and not very obvious. I sat down and ordered a Croissant French Toast and a cup of Mexican hot chocolate. I never had Croissant French Toast before so I was looking forward to it! It was served with strawberries(see my pic) and it was delicious. It has the french toast features(?) but also the texture of a croissant, which is an interesting experience, I liked it. Although I did not quite taste the difference in the hot chocolate tho. There were a few elderly folks chatting, seems to be a lovely place where locals hang out.

I’ve only been here once but the first time blew me away! This is definitely a place I’m going to be keeping in mind to come back. Walking into the place, even though it’s not a big place it’s a good enough size to be cozy. I ordered the chicken delight which was amazing! You can taste all the ingredients: spinach, chicken, mushrooms etc. This is the perfect place to grab a bite with a quiet place to sit and chat. It was just so stress-free and soothing. I love this place!

I originally found this little spot while looking for some good coffee. Their borgia is delicious! I came back again to try out their menu. This time, I ordered croissant french toast with strawberries, shrimp crêpe, fresh OJ, and the borgia. I shared these items with my boyfriend. I really enjoyed everything. The OJ was fresh and pulpy, just how I like it. The borgia, as I’ve said, very yummy. The entrees were both delicious, though the shrimp crêpe may have been too small for sharing. What I really liked was the croissant french toast. It’s just a little crispy within the first few bites, but it’s a thin bread, so it moistens pretty quickly. The taste was fantastic. I wish I thought of it myself. It was really thick with egg. If you love french toast, definitely go for the croissant french toast. It was $ 10.50, pretty reasonable. Everything is made from scratch, but it really didn’t take too long. I would suggest to come during the weekdays because the restaurant is pretty small. It could only fit around 10 couples. I will be back for more.

Incroyable! Looking for a great brunch spot accessible by BART? Been traversing to the Marina or Potrero Hill? Well, worry no more! Who would have thought Glen Park was hiding such a gem? Tucked in the intersection between Diamond and Chenery is Higher Grounds Coffee House. It should really be called, «The Best Damn Crepes in SF.» Mish mash tables and seating are the trademarks of the no-nonsense location, and the affordable prices to match. Don’t expect fine dining here. No, at Higher Grounds, you order at the register, cash only, and the wait staff bring the food to you. I’ve had both sweet and savory crepes. You can’t really go wrong. Try the sausage apple cheese crêpe. It’s savory from the sausage but sweet from the apple. Strange combination, but it works. You can also order the tried and true favorites, such as nutella banana or salsa crêpe! After you’ve had your fill, don’t forget to take a stroll in Glen Canyon nearby. Happy eating!
