I love this place! The space is absolutely beautiful. The DJs are always fun. It’s one of the best kept secrets for a great happy hour in the Financial District. And the club nights are top-notch — pretty much the best in SF. Every time I’m there I have a great time!

Great hidden gem! This place is worth seeking out. From the well dressed host at the door, to the swanky décor, this place exudes class! The staff is knowledgeable, but never in a «I’m smarter than you» way, They made delicious drinks, and Chadwick went out of his way to make us feel welcome and at home. This was my first of many stops on this particular evening, but as I left, I could not help but feel like i was missing out by leaving when I did. This place just has a good energy to it. Hard to explain, yes but undeniable all the same. I will most certainly return.

Dope downtown spot with a speakeasy /underground feel. Hawthorn has one of the best sound systems in the city, serves up super tasty cocktails and has a hip hop /old school room in the back that always has some dope DJs. Not really much more you could ask for. Easily one of my favorite, mid-sized spots in the Bay!

I love this place! SF’s new hot stop with an amazing atmosphere and entertainment, great music, staff and overall vibe. World known DJ’s, enough space to dance, two rooms with beautiful speakeasy décor. There are areas to sit even without a table, the bottle service and happy hour are fabulous. Don’t miss the most talented GoGo Performance-this is the place to be and my new favorite dance club/lounge!

Hawthorn is a playground for adults:) The innovative, brothel atmosphere creates an intimate environment that appeals to a very diverse crowd-from cocktail sippers, dancers and romancers to low-key, loungers who want to kick back and enjoy some mind-blowing beats. Their happy hour(5 – 8) is epic; serving hand-crafted cocktails that delight the palette and entice all of your senses-make sure to experience Bourbon and Bubbles, every Tuesday! The Gogo dancers are absolute gems~you can sit and watch them as the evening unfolds or be compelled to hit the dance floor! Any night of the week is a great night to experience the timelessness of this space. Some of the worlds most paramount talent comes to SF and you can discover them all at Hawthorn, the new hotspot in the city!

The craft cocktails here are really creative and delicious. The bar and lounge décor is very trendy with a suave ambiance. The street entry is very understated and an unappealing dark stairwell leads down to a basement which surprisingly leads into a trendy lounge.

Hawthorn is my new favorite club in SF! They recently hosted my engagement party in the main room and went above and beyond to make it an epic night for our large group of 80 guests. Jenny(manager) was easy to communicate with and had everything setup when we arrived: huge table, guest list with security, plenty of staff to accommodate our party. The club is gorgeous, the DJs are good, the bartenders make decent drinks, and the security staff are friendly and professional! Even the bathrooms are super clean with no lines on a busy night. Thanks again for a truly perfect celebration at your venue!

Great décor | Great drinks | Clean and Classy $$ The club scene isn’t really my thing, but this is probably my most favorite place out of all the clubs I’ve ever been to. I really like the interior decorations. The bathrooms are clean and I never had to wait in line(we went on a Saturday night). There’s two rooms that play different music — EDM and hip hop/top 40. The hip hop/top 40 room was pretty packed and it got WAY too hot because the space is really small for dancing. There’s a bar over there too, though. The larger main area plays the EDM music where the performers are in cages. Pretty neat! It reminded me of Cirque du Soleil: P The dj that night was generic in my opinion, nothing super special. I liked that there was more space/breathing room and some ventilation. Coat check is actually upstairs right at the entrance, and that tends to fill up pretty fast. Our group was pretty large. We were rolling deep with about 20 people for a friend’s birthday :) All of the bouncers and security guys were friendly. We didn’t have to wait very long to get into the club — 5 minutes? FREE before 11pm! We did the guest list thing on their site for the specific event. Drinks were really good. Simpson made my sazerac and it was good! We actually had a little conversation, so the bartenders are friendly. This is a pretty classy place with a bit of an older crowd. I like that! Everyone was friendly and offered to take our photos when we tried to attempt some selfies. I’m bringing my other girlfriends here soon :) **Our game plan that night: park at Sutter Stockton parking garage; walk to Rickhouse for some drinks; end the night at Hawthorn.

It only took one visit for me to fall in love with this place. I came here not really expecting anything because I wasn’t the one who suggested on going here. When I arrived to the destination, it was super quiet outside, almost like there was no music… little did I know… when I walked past through the doors, the security, and through another door, I heard music. YES!!! Now we’re talkin! The music was a whole mix of hip hop/bay area throwbacks! NOEDM from what I heard, which was great for me :) The place was very cute on the inside, elegant & lounge-y, yet enough room for gettin’ down on the dance floor. Their special cocktail menu was limited & a bit pricey, around $ 14 a drink. But on the plus side, the bartenders were super nice & friendly. I loved the diverse crowd! From start up techies to college students to people in santa suits. Yes, santa suits. It was awesome!

Not too bad. Hawthorne is a little door on Geary street that I walked past the first time before I realized where it was. On the cusp between dive bar and trendy hipster joint, the place was fun and the bartenders were good. We were there for a small event and the music was a little too loud to talk, but as far as cool places to hangout with friends, I’d go back for sure.

Love this place. Always have a great time. Great DJs. Bottle service rocks! I will usually head here after pregaming at another bar. Once we are ready to settle down into a place for the night we come to Hawthorn. Always a packed crowd.

LOVED this place! I have a friend who has lived in San Francisco for a little over 3 years now and she had recommended this place. I was in San Francisco celebrating my birthday in the beginning of October and went here on a Friday night. They were hosting an event for Hult International Business School so the crowd consisted of a lot of college MBA students. There are two different rooms to dance in, one with hip hop and another with house and top 40’s music. The DJ’s were great and the staff was really friendly. The club part is located downstairs, which I was afraid might get a little stuffy, but they keep the place well ventilated and I never felt like it got too crowded. And this might be weird to mention, since I came here specifically for dancing, but the bathrooms are incredible here. So many times when I go out I’m afraid to use the bathroom at a bar or club because of how disgusting they get, but the bathroom at Hawthorn is not only clean but actually really beautiful. My only complaint was that there was a $ 15 or $ 20 cover charge, but security mentioned at the door that you could just go to their website and get on the guest list so that you don’t have to pay the cover.

Came here on a Friday night. Place was pretty busy. Plenty of lounge seats though. However, they change this into a club I think around 1030. All the tables become reserved tables. The drinks were just whatevers. I had the Peabody and it was just ok. Didn’t really taste the tequilla, just spicy cucumber. This is a good space for big groups.

My first visit to Hawthorne was short but enjoyable. I’m a pretty no nonsense type of guy, especially after a long day at work. Like Drake, Yong(I think that’s his name) served me up a two cocktails«back to back”*: Foxtrotter($ 12) and my «usual» Sazerac($ 11), half burbon and half rye today. PROS: — Trendy bar with quality bartenders. — FREE popcorn! I love popcorn and if it’s free, it’s me. — Yong tried to politely correct my half bourbon and half rye since Sazarac’s are usually made with rye and/or cognac. Unfortunately for me, cognacs give me a terrible hangover on an empty stomach. Respect to Yong for making me what I asked for after I insisted. — Has a tiny TV by the bar to watch sports games or whatever. — Tons of seating. — Perfect for a casual date. CONS: — Tax isn’t included in the menu prices which kind of annoyed me. I thought this was slightly unusual since most bars include tax in their prices(based on my extensive research, of course). — The bar isn’t huge and can get packed pretty quickly so get there early. I’d definitely come back to Hawthorn for some more drinks. I’m not sure if I’d take it as a first round draft pick but it’d be in my top 5, for sure. *A reference to Drake’s diss track called«Back to Back» because he released two diss tracks very close to each other and destroyed Meek Mills. RIP Meek Mills.

Great crowd, different selection of music, nice venue, and affordable drink prices! Every time I go to Hawthorn, I never have a bad time! There are different happy hour specials every day from 5 – 9 and I hate to admit it, but I have tried their happy hour on Tuesday to Friday. Here it goes: Tuesdays: Bourbon mixed drinks and my personal fave old fashions are 5 dollars. They also serve quality bourbon so you feel like a brand new person after one of these! Wednesdays — The coveted SANFRANPISCO drinks offers 5 dollars for Pisco mixed drinks. I usually get myself a Pisco Negroni — might want to ask them to make it less bitter if you don’t like the earthy taste of a negroni! Thursdays: Manhattans — Thirst is real folks, They also have bumping chill music! Fridays: Different drink specials all across the board and great way to start your Friday night. Generally love Hawthorn and its wonderful ambiance and would definitely suggest coming here for happy hour or during the weekend. You won’t regret it!

Oh I actually really like this shi shi place. Lol. Came here for a coworker outing and we just celebrated the coworker leaving the company. Only a little subtraction for being a bar without a tap. I like beer the strong kind. But it’s ok. Time to send off a coworker. I do like how the place looks and feels and also it wasn’t obscenely full which is always a plus. They do shots for the send off. Plus all the alcohol that. I show in my picture. I recommend the place. It’s close to Union Square and you yo downstairs. It’s really nicely decorated. Totally fun.

This lounge is awesome! It may be hard to find because there is only a giant H in front of the building(secret status) and the actual lounge is downstairs so the small entrance is deceiving. Plenty of fun furniture pieces throughout the place, with one bar near the front. The bartenders are super proactive about their customers, which is good because it can easily get congested down that hallway. I had one of their special cocktails, the Firebird($ 13) which is a tequila drink. Excellent strong cocktail that is reasonably priced. Great place to host an event with space for a guest DJ and excellent A/V capabilities. There is a cage(for some reason) on the side so I’m guessing they do some interesting events here. I came here for a networking event but will definitely come back to witness the regular crowd!

What a delightful spot for Friday happy hour. On street level, you totally wouldn’t notice that it’s there but a walk down the stairs to the basement reveals a dim, comfortable cocktail bar with ample seating for our large group from work. Ok we called ahead to reserve a large section but also good to know that you can do that. I only had beers so can’t speak to the cocktails but folks seemed to be happy with what they ordered. All I know is that I got a fresh bottle whenever I needed one — the service is friendly and attentive. In addition, there was plenty of truffle popcorn for the group of us. Probably some dancing action going on later at night with the DJ booth and disco mirrorball if that’s your thing but I was totally happy with Friday post-work happy hour here especially when you consider how packed so many places are — Hawthorn Lounge is totally a hidden gem.
