Ordered a cheeseburger with fries, didn’t take a picture cause I was so hungry but it looks a lot like what everyone else put up. Anyway, took it to-go and the burger was deliciouuus. Loved the fact that they aren’t stingy with the fries like some other places too. I will definitely come back! & Convenience is great for parkmerced residents!

HOFB has been popular since opening in 2010. But after 6 yrs. the original friendly owners(brothers Basil and Ramzi) sold their business at the end of 2015. The new owner is professional and efficient, but not as friendly as the brothers. Anyways, HOFB continues to make great big juicy burgers, although their fries are just okay. The shakes are good too. All burger prices(around $ 10 – 11 with tax) includes fries. Beef burger patties are ½ pound, but the turkey/chicken sandwiches are 1⁄3 lb. Unless specified, the beef burgers are cooked medium pink, and the poultry is always cooked well done. Default toppings: lettuce, tomato, raw onions, pickles, and house sauce(Russian dressing). Cheese choices: American, Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or pepper jack. They have beer taps on front counter, and a free self service large metal ice water dispenser and plastic cups on the middle of counter(next to soda dispenser). Place your food order at the counter and pay. You’ll get a plastic number, then find a seat and wait(while watching TV sports). The small dining room only holds 8 – 9 small tables and a few seats by the window. Although they’re often swamped with food orders, I prefer dining inside. So I can devour that hot juicy burger right after it’s made. Note that the bottom bun gets soggy on takeout orders. Free parking lot — spaces are available during daytime, but most spaces are taken during evenings.

Ally-Oop is one of the best burgers I ever had the chance of tasting. The meat is so delicious, every bite just mouth-watering. I get my meat cooked well-done, and they do it to perfection. The proportion of ingredients is really good too. They put in a good amount of avocado in the burger(what seems like half of the avocado). Besides the burger, I often get the hot link(a mild hot dog). It’s fairly spicy and if you have an aversion to spiciness, I’d suggest the regular hot dog. The burgers and hot dogs both come with crispy french fries. Every so often I’ll get the oreo shake which is also pretty good. The shake is a nice choice if you’re cooling your mouth from the hot link. I come here quite often because the price is pretty good for the amount of food I’m getting. I’ll usually spend about $ 10-$ 13 here for a meal. They’re also really good about the wait time, where I can expect to wait about 10 minutes. Lately, I’ve been calling in for pickup and they’re also really good with that. Staff is friendly and this is a nice place where they always have sports tv running in the background. Place is never terribly crowded, and you can usually find seats.

This is one of my favorite burger joints. The mushroom cheeseburger is my favorite here. The burger is cooked to your liking and rare is how I like it! Nice and juicy

If you want to fulfill your craving of thick, juicy, tender… I’m talking about burgers people. This is your go to place. I can definitely say Hall of Flame is a hole in the wall. It looks small and dingy, and kinda raggedy. It has a convenient location; walking distance from SFSU for all you students wanting a cheat meal. As far a pricing, it’s fairly cheap $ 8-$ 10 burgers depending on what you get/add to it. Food: But they make some damn good burgers, hot dogs, and well the fries were pretty bomb too. Like I said, damn good burgers . Service: Fast, prompt, friendly. No complaints here. Atmosphere: This isn’t a swanky place to go out for dinner. If anything I’d probably take the food to go next time. They have a couple of TVs around which I think is their attempt to make it more sports bar like. But hey, if you check this place out, it should be for their food, not their décor.

These are the very best burgers in the area. You get a generous portion, even though the price is a little high. The service is fast and the staff are friendly. I’ve been happy every time I’ve been here, but one time when we brought a friend she complained the meat was underdone. That always happens when your brag up a place too much!

Pretty limited dining options in the Parkmerced /SFSU area, especially if you don’t want to venture up to Stonestown. Situated in a strip mall next to Papa John’s, this place screams local college burger joint. It’s tasty and satisfying, so a nice lifeline when you find yourself in this food desert. Ally-oop: Had to order this after all the Unilocal love it was getting. At first I was thinking that avocado on a burger would be too California and too healthy. But then I remembered it was basically a bacon cheeseburger under the avocado. Sure enough, it was an amazing combination. The fresh avocado added even more fatty richness to an already rich burger. I may have to start making cheese, bacon and avocado a standard burger topping for me! Roethlisberger: I suppose every burger joint in California needs a secret menu. And this not-so-secret meat monstrosity is featured in a lot of Unilocal photos. It’s a cheeseburger that happens to have a split grilled hot link on top. Almost like something you’d find at Carl’s Jr. The Ally-oop had a better flavor profile, but this burger satisfies that base desire for lots of grilled meats! Fries: A tad disappointing. Tasted overcooked. I appreciated the hard outer shell, but there was no moist pasty potato inside. Instead, it was crunchy the whole way through so reminded me of those not-so-great french fry shaped potato chip snacks.

Ally-Oop was pretty good. Avocado + Bacon over a decent size cheeseburger. They are pretty generous with the avocado, unlike some other places. The burger was cooked perfectly to medium rare. Very juicy. Fries included for about $ 12 including tax. Coming back from traveling out of the US, a nice, juicy burger was quite the treat. The sauce was delicious and the burger was really filling. I really like the burgers here and will definitely come back again. Maybe next time I’ll get an Oreo Shake too.

The place is on point. Never had a bad meal here. Burgers are high quality with great service. It’s nice to have a burger from a non-chain restaurant. These guys are doing the right thing. You should too. Eat here now!!!

Nice joint near SFSU Being new to the area, I need to find some staple spots to show friends. So when I got to hang out with one of my local friends, she showed me the Hall of Flame! Located not too far from the SFSU campus, you’ll find it sitting in a plaza with an okay-sized parking lot. We managed to find a spot, but I’m not sure how it is on busier days for each business in the same lot. Walking in, I was graced with a charming sports oriented restaurant. Signs! Memorabilia! Hand Written Menu! The FAQ sign above the register helped with the process, nice touch! The place isn’t too big, but they manage to fill as much space with tables and seats. It got a little busy on our way out, so rush hours might be a little hard to grab a seat, but I haven’t experienced it on my visit. I ordered a beer on tap and tried the Alley-Oop burger. I can’t remember which beer I had, but I’m sure it was an IPA of some sort. The cool thing about it was though, that it came out in a Superbowl 50 glass, cause you know, SF and Superbowls and stuff. The Alley-Oop is a Bacon Cheeseburger with plenty of avocado slices on top. It was for the most-part good, but this was on me that I accidentally had it cooked a little underdone than what I’m used to(I just copied my friend ahead of me) I’m pretty sure I would like it a lot more if I ordered it my usual way(so no fault on the restaurant). I’m definitely a fan, I can’t wait to try them again whenever I’m in the area. I want to try more of the menu too!

The food’s fine, but you guys need to answer the phone instead of just leaving it off the hook! Update: Nezar, the manager, was very quick to address the issue. He explained they’ve been having problems with their phones and are in the process of replacing them. I actually really like the food at Hall of Flame, so hopefully I won’t have issue ordering again.

These burgers were AMAZING! Best burgers I have had in a LONG time! ½ pound of meet, layers of avocado, bacon, perfect amount of cheese, purple onions, tomatoes and lettuce! everything just seemed perfect! I loved the burger, definitely looking forward to having it again! My boyfriend got the burger with Swiss and mushrooms, he pretty much downed it within a few minutes, and no joke these burger are ½ a pound, thick and juicy! A little hard to find he said(as he picked up the food ordered to go) said it is located at the apartments before you get onto 280 after passing SF state and the mall, nestled within the little area! As I said so looking forward to having them again!

This is a great spot! It’s super close to SFSU and it’s quick, easy, and you get a lot of food! I always get the humdinger. They also recently added onion rings to the menu and they’re really good. Order ahead if you’re in a rush and do not forget to get an Oreo shake. Also, this is a great place to watch sports if you don’t have a tv(or if you do and you’re craving a burger)!!

What can I say… this is a great burger joint… close to SFSU. The burgers are generous… delicious and the service is always friendly and quick. It’s a small place and can get crowded… but even at their busiest… I’ve never had a problem getting food quickly. When I want a good hamburger… and I’m in the area, which is often lately as my daughter attends college at SFSU… this is the must go burger place. Clean and reasonably priced for the area… you won’t be disappointed!

FOODCOMAALERT. This burger literally put me in a 7 hour food coma… then again i did order extra fries, but thats besides the point. I ordered the alley oop. BEST flippin burger i have ever ate in my life. Long story short. Creamy melt in your mouth bun, juicy beef patty, fresh avo and bacon. Perfection. I say no more. GOORDERNOW.

I am a fan of everything avocado so when I stumbled upon a picture of Hall of Flame’s Ally-Oop Burger last Saturday afternoon, I knew we had to head over to try it. When we arrived, they were quick to take our order. We decided to go with the Ally-Oop Burger which is basically a burger with bacon and avocado as well as the chili cheese fries. The burger came with regular fries as well. The burger patty came thick and juicy with tomato, pickles, onions, and lettuce on the side. The chili cheese fries came overflowing with chili and sprinkled with cheddar cheese. We didn’t order any drinks, so they delivered 2 glasses of water to our table as well. For me the burger was just ok. It’s definitely filling and the size of the patty is pretty generous, however it could use a bit more flavor. The chili cheese fries were good. It came with thicker fries, nice and crunchy which how I prefer. I would suggest they leave a pitcher of water out so people can grab their own glasses. Just so that the workers aren’t having to pour glasses of water each time people want to drink.

Burgers are thick, juicy and were cooked just as we requested(medium rare). I did find the price to be a bit steep, $ 10 just for a burger that doesn’t even come with fries. The quality is there and as stated, size of the patties are rather generous so almost worth it in my opinion. The fries were good, not steak fries but still pretty thick and not too oily. hot links aren’t that spicy but are still very good. A $ 5 hot dog in downtown can get me a snack whereas a $ 5 hot dog here can get me a meal so I find it to be fairly priced. I’m a big fan of beeps but the two don’t really compare seeing as they are cooked differently so choosing between one or the other is based more off of if you feel like a flame grilled burger versus off the stove. or maybe convenience of location. Both are very satisfying when it comes to those burger cravings. Oh yes, and the service has always been very friendly!(=

I found this place on Unilocal while searching for sandwiches, looked at the glowing number of reviews and decided to give it a try. The venue is in a small strip mall located in the middle of a neighborhood with high rise buildings. It can be a bit challenging to get here if you are not familiar with the area. Its a small place with not too many seats and an open kitchen. The staff is quite friendly. I ordered the 76er(Philly Cheese steak) with an upgrade to Chili Cheese Fries! I can’t say I was disappointed. I didn’t realize the burger or sandwich already came with fries, but the friendly cashier asked me if I wanted separate order of Chili fries or an upgrade. The 76er is light, doesn’t feel heavy or hearty. A good warm sandwich. The Chili fries are a huge order, a very generous portion! You could really eat the entire thing as a meal unto itself! Definitely a place I will visit again if I am in the area.

The burgers at this joint are off the hook. Came in here looking for lunch the other day and damn… the burger I had was incredible. I want to get in the alley and let me tell you it was one of the best burgers I have had in about 5 years. I’d even go as far as to say that the burgers are better than five guys and that’s saying a lot especially coming from me. It’s nice that this place is located not too far away from the university so that all of us former and current college students can afford to actually pay for a nice burger every once in a while. There’s also a ton of sports stuff all off in this place which is awesome. Most of the support stuff is for local teams. There’s a bunch of San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers stuff hanging on the walls here. The five years also cool is a little. A lot of the staff or rather friendly and seem to be willing to go that extra mile to make sure all their customers needs are met. There is some sitting here but its not a whole lot so I would have to keep that in mind if you’re looking to get your order for it for here rather than for takeout. The parking lot is fairly decent in size so if you’re driving you should be able to find a parking spot. I would definitely have to say the one thing about the burgers here is that they’re fairly thick they know how to cook a burger and all the toppings on the burger are really good and bring out the flavor of the burger as a whole. They know burgers here bottom line. Just come and get some of this delicious goodness and experience the thrill of an awesome burger alright. Until next time folks…

One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time! I was a little worried about eating a ½ pound burger at lunch time but it was delicious and so worth the afternoon food coma. I got a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I asked for cheddar cheese and extra crispy fries. Everything was delicious and the service was kind as well. Lots of sports memorabilia on the walls and this place seems to be popular with cops/locals. I don’t find myself in the parkmerced area very often so not sure if this will be added to my burger rotation but it’s definitely a good spot if you’re in the area.
