I would have given 5 stars except for… read on.
I’ve been coming to Hairview for the past twenty (yes!) years. There are two sylists: Jenny, the mom, and Joe, her son. I always had Jenny do the shampoo (amazing head massage), cut and style. While her son Joe is very good, I felt more rapport with Jenny (who doesn’t speak much English but there’s more to communication than words), who is friendly, cheerful, and most importantly, styles to my liking.
The past couple of months I came by for a cut but her son Joe told me Jenny went to China indefinitely. I returned a few more times to be told the same thing. I wish he would be more informative but perhaps it’s a family situation.
The prices are very reasonable. But Joe is working all alone so you might encounter a wait.

My mom came here for a simple hair dye and trim. Lady works here was very nice and agreed to have my mom use her own hair coloring which she brought with her from HK. It was done within an hour and my mom loved it. The hair lady did a good job and she was very talkative, loud (typical Cantonese) and very friendly. My mom said this place will be her to go place now for haircut and coloring.

Horrible cut!!! The owner butchered my hair beyond recognition. Like a previous reviewer she murdered my hair with thinning shears. I was desperate to get a trim — just a few inches off the ends. She said I needed some layers which I agreed to and next thing I know my hair was gone — as in 5 inches at least and thinned out. I ended up going to a high end salon the very next day and thankfully they were able to fix it. However, I now have a bob cut — which I Love — however it was an unplanned drastic change.

Joe and his mom are good. No rushing, no major service problems — haircut is safe and good, nothing scary. Best thing — he doesn’t layer my hair that shouldn’t be layered. He actually listens rather than nod to whatever say. Thanks for giving me NO worries on haircuts!

Any caveats really can’t outweigh the righteously perfect haircuts that Joe gives. Too bad he doesn’t work weekends anymore, which seriously limits my chances of getting my hair cut here anymore! But he’s given me the best haircuts of my life.

There are a ton of hair salons on Clement St. that all look the same from the outside. In fact I’ve accidentally gone to other ones close to this location thinking it was this one and boy was I disappointed when I left with a haircut looking like I just entered the military!
The haircuts I get here are great. I always want just a little bit of hair off and make sure to specify both verbally and non-​verbally. Both the mother and son (?) do a great job! I always worry about language barriers with the hair stylists on Clement St. but actions speak louder than words, and I’m always very satisfied with my haircuts at Hairview Salon.
Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it’s worth it for getting a good haircut. The price is always great and I will keep coming back here!

I’ve stopped going there because the service has dropped and the wait time to get your hair attended to has risen drastically. Plus they need to sweep up the hair cuttings more than once a month.

this is the only place i trust to get my haircut. ive been here since the beginning of middle school and ever since then ive made it a thing for me to do every other friday. its kind of a ritual thing for me to do. the mother is really dope. shes fun with alot of energy and the son is just amazing when it comes to cutting my hair.

i did my first hair cun in this place today… took me awhile to wait for the cut. but the lady paid a lot of time to cut my hair. i like my hair, much lighter. since she is the only one work there, so prepare to wait longer.
