Cute little salon on Divis. Booked a cut online with Style Seat and came in to relaxed 90’s pop (Goo Goo Dolls, obviously) on a Saturday morning, drank some sparkling water and learned a whole lot about the seedy underbelly of SF in the 20’s. No frills, but good service and a great cut.

I have been seeing Alin for years. I followed him from Blade Runners to Population to Grey Salon because he is the only one I trust with my curly hair and my asymmetrical haircut. :) People definitely ask me on the street where I get my haircut, and I recommend him to anybody.

This Review is for Megan! Megan is amazing and so professional! I have been going to her for over a year now and she is the only person I trust to do my hair! She highlights my hair Blonde and does a amazing job! It always looks natural and never brassy! She also does my extensions which always look amazing! She really cares about the health of my hair and gives me the best advice for my hair care! Go to her you won’t be dissolved!!!

I have been seeing Caitlin for a couple years now and she is by far the best stylist I’ve ever had. I genuinely look forward to getting to catch up with her whenever I see her. I couldn’t recommend her more and I love this location she moved to!

Ivy is the best!
Stumbled upon her a few years back and despite 2 moves — one out of state, I still come back to her for cuts.

He’s always learning more modern and cutting-​edge ways to cut and style hair and he really nails that West Coast look.
Plus he is a cool guy who will make you laugh and feel comfortable when you’re in the chair! He listens to what you want and works meticulously to give you an artful haircut catered to you.
I have a short pixie and he has been been helping me out by brainstorming and finding other modern cuts that I can have between my super short style now and the longer look I’d like to work toward.

Caitlin’s magic skills exceed any hair dresser/​colorist I’ve ever used. I have been seeing Caitlin for about 8 years now, and the past few years I seen her exclusively (as Caitlin has had to fix other stylists mistakes when I strayed — lesson has been learned!). Today was my first visit since her transition to Grey Salon which was clean, cozy and an overall great atmosphere with a cool vintage modern vibe. Ivy is the best for blondes! When I first moved to SF 5 yrs ago, I had a series of not so great highlights until a friend introduced me to Ivy. She immediately understood what I was looking for and got my color back on track in no time! It’s been love ever since. Great color, great cuts, great conversation.

I’d give Caitlin Boehm 100 stars if I could! Followed her here from another salon, and I’m so glad I did. The salon itself is really cute, and in a great location. You can get your hair done and then go grab a drink or dinner at any of the awesome places nearby.
Caitlin is the only stylist in SF I trust with my blonde highlights. They always come out so natural. Earlier this year she also cut my almost-​butt length hair to a chin length, and I had absolutely ZERO fear in her abilities. Not only is she super talented, but she really listens to what you want, and discusses how to best make that work for your hair and face. Plus she is funny and really easy to talk to. She’s the best!

So I followed Caitlin here from e salon! She has painstakingly been making me blonde after I had been dying my hair red at home with box dye! Ivy is the best! My hair is very very curly and I’m always petrified to cut it. She did an amazing job and made me feel completely comfortable. The color is also perfect. A completely natural looking blond on a pretty dark brunette. She’s also super thoughtful in her product recommendations and always follows up to see how the hair is settling in! So nice.

I’ve experienced my fair share of terrible hairstylists who didn’t know how to cut my (Asian) hair, but fortunately found Ivy. 7 years and 5 salons later, I’ll follow her wherever she goes! She really listens to what your hair hopes and dreams are (ideal style, level of maintenance/​care you’re looking for, issues you want to fix) and gives you usfeul, honest feedback about what can be done with your hair type and what will work for you individually. And if you’re not sure about what to do with your hair, she gives excellent suggestions. I’ve gone through many hairstyles with Ivy: short, long, colored, with/​without bangs – and have been super happy with all of them – not to mention I always have a great time chatting with her in the salon. If you’re looking for someone new who really knows how to do hair well, I’d highly recommend Ivy. You really can’t go wrong.

I’ve been going to Ivy for 8 or 9 years now following her from salon to salon. I couldn’t be happier for her to have her own place! She makes me look like I’ve spent a long vacation at the beach returning with gorgeous natural blonde highlights. I only wish I could send her more referrals but not many people realize I get my hair colored she makes it look so good! The atmosphere of the cute little salon is chill and Ivy is a sweet down to earth lady who is super easy to chat with. Highly recommended!

Ivy is a miracle worker! When I first came to see her my straight, fine, black hair was a total wreck, I had really bad brassy highlights and a horrible cut — she magically fixed both the color and style and I left feeling like a million bucks with natural looking highlights and a great cut that somehow gave me incredible volume. I’ve been a regular for 2 years since then and she does a fantastic job every single time. Plus she is really friendly and the salon is super cute and easy to get to, right off Divis. Ivy’s the real deal: just great hair, friendly service, and reasonable prices, it doesn’t get any better.

Oh man, Ivy is so great for my hair and thusly, so great for my confidence. She totally gets my style and is always open to hearing me out, but she isn’t hesitant to dispense with helpful and insightful advice and ideas I may have never even considered. She’s efficient and has a discerning and stylish eye, and on top of all that, her salon has an chill intimate vibe and she is a lot of warm FUN. I always enjoy catching up with her and sharing some laughs. Most importantly, she knows how to bring out the best in my problematic hair.

I wrote a 5-​star review for Ivy, back in 2011, when she was at a different salon. I’ve been with her a LEAST 5 years, probably more. I had to make sure my review followed her here, to Grey!
I have thick, wavy, blonde hair. And in the past, it has taken hair stylists a while to really figure our my hair, and know how to cut it. Ivy got it right the first time, and EVERY time after that! She knows how to trim/​cut my wavy hair so it grown out nicely. She’s awesome at what she does, and awesome to catch up with every time I sit in her chair. She is also a PRO at COLOR. I get highlights from her, and I leave with fab, beach blonde locks. She really knows what she’s doing.
Also, over the last couple of years, I tried a smoothing treatment with Ivy. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. And, with my slightly frizzy, wavy hair, I was a good candidate. The treatment is called PRIVANA, and it’s sort of like an anti-​frizz treatment. It left my hair smoothed, without frizz, but still had some movement and bend. I LOVED it. If I remember correctly it’s free of the chemicals that are in many of those Keratin and Brazilian treatments. Privana also has a much better price tag (cheaper) than those other treatments, while it lasts just as long (about 3 months).
Most recently, Ivy has been working with my on getting the perfect cut and color for my wedding. Ivy worked with me several months out, so we could figure out the perfect schedule leading up to the big day. I couldn’t be happier with it. :)
Ivy is the best. Great with wavy haired blondes — beach blonde, bright blonde, natural blonde, wavy, curly, frizzy, or whatever it may be!
