The night starts as I wander around folsom street trying to find the tucked away doorway that will lead me up to this night’s affair. Up the stairs I go, following the muffled laughter until I arrive at the door. The wafting aroma of friendly faces seeps from under the door and tickles me like a flirting feather under the chilly winter moon. I find a place at the end of the table to observe the full effect of the night’s festivities. As I look down the long, candle-lit table, I’m reminded of the communitive nature of this underground supper club. Smoked salmon ravioli filled with whipped cheese topped on rye, pickled fennel, radish, and candied red onion. This event is much more seductive than the last, lights dimly lit, pure white walls, an offset kitchen, and red velvet curtains. The spirits pour freely as the courses progress and the night is lightened. «Latke» fried potato and beet atop a white bean purée. This course goes quickly from my fork till gone, not even lasting a description, only a moment on the tongue… perhaps it is the nature of the dish… I want to ravish it and have another. Was this mere foreplay for the next course? If you want more, you’re just going to have to go visit these guys. It’s so delicious. Their site is and just became«member only» events. Hope to see you there! NOMNOMNOM.

This was a great underground dining experience. Last night’s was dinner and movies. My friend and I did the food and drink pairing, and brought our own wine as well. The amuse bouche was popcorn to match the theme covered in a salty cajun sort of spice which was a great start the evening. The first course was a beet salad with strawberries laid across the bottom of the plate. The beets were absolutely delicious and accented well with the sweet strawberries. Sardines with vegetables covered in a vinaigrette followed. I’m not usually a fan of sardines, but these ones were great. A pea consume was up next and was surrounded by hay. Yummy. The main dish was chicken covered in pork skin. Not normally something I’d probably order, but my god was it delectable. The fried pork tasted so good and I was definitely hoping for seconds. Dessert was a panna cotta with fresh berries. Absolutely amazing. The drink pairings were great and the people were fabulous. I would definitely recommend Graffeats to anyone wanting to do an underground dinner.

The best under ground dining experience I have ever participated in. seriously! hear me out on this one. In order to be truly different and stand out in this arena you need to shine. and boy do they ever! aside from the context the food is the real star. On our maiden voyage the first course was this really amazing onion soup-some of the best that I had ever eaten; way way better than Julia’s-ha. so what made it different? The complexity of slow cooked onions, the rich viscous broth and the shot of cognac. shocking and sexy. Then we got poached spot prawns with Asian pear, ancho cress and vanilla vinaigrette. winner! next was lamb riblettes with green papaya salad, mango chutney and lamb reduction sauce. so finger lickin good! next was some kind of pupusa-spectacular. then a few more courses– lastly a chocolate soufflé dish with homemade ice cream and some whack caramel sauce, Graff style. Worth every penny! a true dining treat!

Absolutely wonderful! This was my first experience with guerrilla dining and I know it was only the first of MANY more. I really love the concept of a nomadic restaurant, because it focuses on what makes dining a great experience: the people, not the brick walls around us. For a much better explanation, you can check out their website. but I know I’m hooked! Dinner was absolutely delicious. I can’t remember having such a fulfilling dining experience(and my emphasis is on «experience») in a very long time. There was art, live music, great company, great food, great drinks, and short movies. I really appreciated the seating, which I felt encouraged the sharing of ideas with the fellow foodies who were first-timers as well. Loved dinner with the excellent pairing. Best beer I’ve ever had. Blair and his team are really friendly, and extremely well organized. Don’t let the food fool you. the atmosphere is actually quite relaxed and although busy making dinner, Blair came out multiple times to check in on us and answered any questions we had. He has a passion for the dishes he creates, and that’s shown throughout all the courses. The best part? The food and venue might be different every time, but graffEats’ ability to deliver an unforgettable experience will not be.

Hit our first GraffEats event for their Valentine’s Day«Dinner and a Flick» event. Awesome idea — five courses, each one paired with wine and short film. Event was super well organized(down to placing menus between pairs so that everyone would be seated correctly at the communal tables rather than having people sit randomly and have to slide one up/down later on) and the space was great. We started with a sparkling red with gorgeous beets, then a fois gras custard napolean type thing(with truffles!), japanese noodles in yummy miso broth then a lovely flatiron steak. Finished off the meal with an awesome chocolate stout ice cream with heart shaped chocolates — yum! Everything was very well executed, food and wines were solid, and the event overall was very good value. Who knew«Guerrilla Dining» could be so romantic! :)
