This is the best place for needlepoint. They helped me with an existing project to the point where I found two more that I just needed to do. The finish work was so inspiring that I had to buy one in order to get them to finish it up. This is the place to go for needlepoint in San Francisco.

I love GGN! Every time I visit there is something fabulous to see. I have had many Items finished there, always beautifully done. The ladies are fun and very knowledgeable! Thanks

Lucky for these gals, I have a sense of humor. I won’t bore you with the details, except to say that they somehow went ahead and made my completed needlepoint canvas into a pillow without ever having obtained my approval of the fabric color, the thread color of the edge piping, the pillow shape, or even the cost. And what a cost it was. The completed pillow was beautiful, even if the shape wasn’t what we had previously discussed and nothing else had ever been approved. Still, if you’re gonna charge me $ 388 for a pillow… WAIT! YOU’RECHARGINGME $ 388FOR A PILLOW??? Damned glad I like it. That’s all.

Great designs, great service, Caroline and Reiko are very creative. I have shopped here for over 25 years. I live on the east coast and continue to buy my needlepoint at Golden Gate Needlepoint. They are the best! Terry J

Back in business! And not a moment too soon! Reiko and Caroline STILL have the friendliest needlepoint joint around! They offer excellent advice, carry canvases from kid-friendly to expert, and can order any canvas you’d like. The. Best.

Golden Gate needlepoint will be opening Very soon! The girls say by the end of September. Reiko and Caroline will still be here in the same location as Elaine Magnin. Same great feel with new canvases and thread selection! Call for update messages: 415−345−8779

Elaine Magnin Needlepoint was mecca! Reiko was wonderful — she knows everything, is kind, gracious, and been there forever. I’d been shopping there since close to 1984, when I moved to San Francisco, until 2007. I am wailing and gnashing my teeth as it appears they are now gone! As of July 31, the shop closed, the phone number is changed, and the new telephone(415.345.8779) says they are trying as hard as they can to reopen by Sept. 15, 2010. I don’t know whether the new place is in the same or a new location, but the message on the answering system is that the name is now Golden Gate Needlepoint. Does anyone know what happened?

This is – was – the most friendly needlepoint store in San Francisco. They had good sales and would order canvases and threads for you if you asked. Lots of stuff packed into a tiny space. However, it closed July 31st2010. May be reappearing pending reorganization.

Teeny tiny store, but Alan and Reiko are sooooo helpful and will find anything needlepoint related for you. They also have a fabulous on-line store«Elainemagnin.com» and always have good canvasses on sale. Hand painted needlepoints are so expensive and Alan does his bit for those of us with the addiction by marking down 20% right off the bat. Thanks!
