The trouble with setting a price ridiculously high is that the expectations will climb to reach the price. This is a great example. This place teases you with glossy photos of their sundaes, but you have some searching to do to find the prices(there’s a sheet near the ordering station with the prices). $ 9.45 for a sundae? This must be some special sundae! Maybe it comes with a commemorative spoon, I wonder. I’m really in a mood for a treat, so I decide to go for the warm brownie sundae. The young lady who takes my order is very professional and pleasant. I hand over $ 10 and get $ 0.55 back. She also gets right to work on my sundae without any delay. It’s a good sundae. The brownie(more like soft fudge than a real cake-like brownie) is gooey and warm. The ice cream is definitely high-end and there’s a fresh maraschino cherry atop the whipped cream. Below there is some delicious hot fudge sauce… against the ice cream it’s gone solid, creating a challenge for the long plastic spool(not of the commemorative variety). As I walked away, I noticed a ridge on one of my fingers from trying to give the spoon leverage over the hardened sauce. I guess that sauce was really worth the effort. In the end, the sundae doesn’t rise to meet the expectations. It’s a good sundae, but it’s not good value. This is a place for people with more dollars than sense. Two stars seems a little harsh, but three would be too generous, based on the value and sales trap marketing tactics.

3.5 star. Decent icecream, but had better in SF. The chocolate samples are always a nice fun treat.

They ran out of bananas, so I couldn’t get the split. C’mon, Ghirardelli. Go to Bristol Farms and buy some freaking bananas! It’s ten paces away. They ran out of chocolate ice cream, so my Mint Bliss had two scoops mint chip instead of being balanced out like it was meant to be. Dark chocolate sauce was intense though. Next time I’ll try the maple bacon cupcake or get a Beard Papa.

Great ice cream sundae! Also available in AT&T park, and for some reason, is better. Perhaps it’s the change of scenery.

The newest Ghirardelli Chocolate and Ice Cream shop in the basement of the Westfield Shopping Center food court has ways to catch up with the original location in Fisherman Wharf… a LONG way to go! The new location is close to BART and somewhat less touristy than the original shop. But you will definitely need to overcome the sudden pop-up appearances from the homeless though. Many of my admirers know I love ice cream. But I wasn’t here to get a fat-ass banana split; especially after my run. I was here to get one of the shop’s blended beverages–«The Nob Hill Chill»… a cool name to «represent my hood» and a drink that suppose to, according to menu, «drink like a sundae»!. For $ 6.95, the drink comprised of two scoops of Vanilla Ice cream mixed with hot fudge sauce with a crumbled chocolate chip cookie topping. The cool name was the best part of the drink. Except the drink tasted like a blended drink you get at Starbucks. But the creamy and frosty drink did taste good though, but overpriced and not the drink I had in mind. Maybe I should’ve gotten that Banana Split or Sundae like many of you are hoping for me to get. «I know many of you are disappointed. You don’t need to tell me!» I definitely support local businesses such as Ghirardelli Chocolates. But I will continue to come here, but definitely skip the beverages here and get something else.

Opened six weeks now. Right across from Bristol Farms and Beard Papa at the food emporium at the Westfield shopping center. Ice cream foundation, espresso drinks, hot chocolate, and of course, their foiled candies. Pre-bagged or you can choose your own variety. Pay by weight.

The Westfield food court just got a little sweetier. I swung by and ordered a small Chocolate shake. Not too heavy at all and delicious.
