I can’t say enough about my experience with Mila. She was absolutely wonderful to work with and I trusted her completely with my dress. Amy Kuschel recommended Fichu, and I am so so so glad I listened to them. Mila basically had to take my dress down by two dress sizes. While it was a lot of work and a handful of fittings, I knew that I would be happy with the results. The experience was seamless and I was sad when I had to say goodbye! I loved her that much!

Mila is nothing short of a genius. I had purchased my dress as part of a LOHO sample sale and was referred to Mila. She worked masterfully with the tears in the french lace and the dress fit perfectly and looked flawless. She is also kind and wonderful to be around. I would recommend everyone to her. Mila did a masterful job totally reconstructing a third-​generation wedding dress. I originally thought the dress was too old to remodel, but she made an impossible transformation happen!
I felt the price was very fair for the amount of time and attention invested and would certainly recommend her for both high-​care pieces like this as well as alterations. Mila did need to reschedule quite a few appointments to accommodate time-​sensitive projects so I would keep that in mind for situations like family/​friends coming to fittings, flights, etc.

Mila was absolutely amazing. She makes the whole process so worry free and painless. She was able to fit my schedule and did beautiful work. I really like how she explains what she is doing to make the dress fit and lay better. Everything went perfectly smooth and she altered my dress to perfection. I was worried my tulle dress would be really fragile, but thankfully Mila checked all the threads to make sure the delicate buttons on the tulle would make it through an evening of dancing and being hoisted up into the air. Sure enough, everything held up and looked amazing throughout the night!

Mila is incredible! My dress was about 3 sizes too large and had a very delicate mesh top with crystals. In a month, she was able to make it fit perfectly with no visible signs of alteration. I’ve had so many compliments on this dress, and I felt like a princess on my wedding day. All thanks goes to Mila for her incredible craftsmanship. And, she is a pleasure to work with – what a lovely person!

Oh my goodness, was Mila a savior. She not only rescued my wedding dress, she also helped my man by altering his suit with zero notice the day before our wedding. We would not have been nearly as cute without her help! She created a stunning bustle for me, and added a perfectly matched sash. And I thought her prices were very reasonable for the quality of work. I was traveling for a few months before the wedding where no one had scales, and came back a little heavier than I was when I bought the dress. Mila gave me two options: she said she could alter the dress for a few hundred dollars for me to be comfortable, or I could just lose 5lbs. She was confident 5lbs would be sufficient, so I did that, and it was perfect indeed! She was a lovely and unexpected guide. Thanks Mila!

I wholeheartedly recommend Mila for wedding gown alterations. I was drowning in the top of my gown which was supposed to be fitted and Mila took it apart and rebuilt it beautifully. The dress honestly looks like it was made for me. She was knowledgable, helpful, positive and friendly throughout the alterations process. I am so grateful for her expertise and professionalism. Her pricing is competitive for San Francisco, and the work is worth every penny. I am plus-​sized and didn’t experience any of the negativity that other people on this Unilocal page have reported– frankly I can’t imagine Mila being anything but positive from my interactions with her. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

You should go to Fichu to see Mila to get your wedding dress fitted. My friend went to Fichu for her wedding dress, and it fit her very well and looked amazing. I was getting married within a few months of my friend. I was recommended to another alterations from where I bought my dress, but I decided to go with Fichu after I spoke to my friend. Mila is very friendly and experienced. My wedding dress had too much extra material in the bust when I bought it. Mila did a perfect job at reshaping and sewing the bust area. My wedding dress fit perfectly. Fichu’s prices are very reasonable too. My sister is a professional seamstress, and she said that Mila at Fichu did a fantastic job on the alterations of my wedding dress. All the guests at the wedding said that my dress fit me very well and it really showed that Mila did a really wonderful job. As long as I live in SF, I will only recommend Mila at Fichu to friends and family. Thank you, Mila!

Mila is amazing and one-​of-​a-​kind. She was very proactive in making sure my alterations were perfectly fit to my body and really cares about the quality of her work She was very timely in making sure all the alterations were done by the third fitting. She made my dress look absolutely perfect on my wedding day. Her attention to detail is like no other. Plus, she is super sweet and friendly! I feel so lucky to have found her!

Mila is an amazing seamstress. I brought in a bridesmaid dress that was several sizes too big and the body was way too long. Given the complicated design and folds throughout the body of the dress, Mila had to remove the skirt, cut off about 6 inches, redo the folds and sew the skirt back on. It was not an easy task and Mila took the time to ensure everything was perfect. The original zipper on the dress was poorly made and that broke during a fitting. Without extra charge, Mila fixed that too. Mila brought me in for 3 separate fittings to make sure this dress was perfect. I realize how difficult it is to alter this kind of dress but Mila really works wonders.

Mila did an incredible job altering my wedding dress! I brought in a size 12 wedding dress and she was able to bring it down to a size 2. The task was not daunting to her. She basically reconstructed the 5 layer dress and made sure that it was altered to my preferences. I met with her three times for fittings and since I needed the dress ASAP she was able to complete the alterations in a month! Mila was nice and easy to work with and made me feel confident that she was going to do an exceptional job altering my dress. In the end the dress was beautiful and fit me perfectly! I would recommend Mila to anyone who is looking for a great seamstress.

Mila does amazing work. She made my multi layer Matthew Christopher lace dress evolve to complement my body and be the perfect centerpiece of our wedding (after I had toned down as brides do and needed it taken in)!!! I had several fittings with Mila, who is a perfectionist craft woman. Each time we discussed what I thought and what she recommended, we were always on the same page. She added internal cups for more support and lift inside the lining of my dress and took it in all around. I got so many compliments on my dress at my wedding and still through pictures… My dress (as my husband and I see it) was perfection! Fichu is top notch and reasonably priced. Top quality. Did not accept/​honor the 10% discount on the Unilocal app. Was disappointed the owner did not bother removing the coupon from the app… it was the main reason I went there to have my fiancé get a bustle made.
She thought it was expensive for what she got…

She killed it. Would not have fit my backfat into my dress if it wasn’t for her, and she was so great throughout the process. She has the fingers of an angel, or at the very least, a nimble infant.

Mila is fantastic! She has altered several dresses for me, but the most memorable was my wedding gown. It was a gown made of silk chiffon that had tiny layers of fabric going every which direction all throughout, and Mila literally had to take the dress apart and rebuild it from the center outward as it was made for someone about 2 feet taller than me. I can’t believe what a great job she did. She was pleasant and friendly every single time I came to see her and was sincerely so excited for me and my upcoming wedding. She really made the experience fun.
I’d honestly recommend Mila to anyone. She is a dress-​maker by trade and can create master pieces from scratch, so you can definitely trust her with your most coveted items — she will do a great job and she herself won’t settle for anything less.
If you need a quick hem, she can do that too and she’ll do it better than anyone else, but you may pay a few extra bucks for her quality of work. She’s over-​qualified for tiny jobs, although I still choose to take all of my items to her because she often has a suggestion that will make the alteration even better than what I thought was originally needed.
You can take anything to her — she can literally do anything! I just walk in with a dress that doesn’t fit right, and ask her what my options are, and she knows her stuff and is honest. She can tell you what your options are and how much each option might cost, and you can make up your mind what you want to spend.
She’s just great great great! Make an appointment as she works by appointment only. And I appreciate her directness. I feel she is extremely sincere and will help you make alterations so that things flatter your body the way that you want. I read another review that said Mila was judgmental/​critical, and the only think I could possibly imagine is that she was trying to help her client select an option that was most flattering for her. I can’t imagine she has a mean bone in her body.
Again, Mila is absolutely your go-​to-​gal for BIG important jobs, like fixing or even creating your bridal gown or any gown for that matter. She can do anything:)

I felt comfortable from the moment I met Mila and trusted her completely with my wedding dress. I wasn’t sure that my dress would even fit after I got it online… I am a plus size gal & I ordered off a Chinese website. I could barely squeeze into the dress, Mila worked her magic and it’s gorgeous!
You should not have one reservation about using Mila, just trust this review and you will not be disappointed…

This woman is horrible! She is the wicked witch that ruined everything. Came here to get my gown altered. She started making critical comments about my body and my body type which did not make me feel comfortable while I was about to get married.
The day I was supposed to pick up my gown, she forgot who I was and completely forgot about our appointment! I asked to check her calendar in her iphone and my name and time of our appointment was right there!
She is very judgmental. She caused me a lot of sadness and stress during my engagement. When I told her I was unhappy with her work, she went mad and pulled the dress out of my hands telling me that she would keep it in her store and rip the gown herself with her own hands. She is hands down psychotic!
Luckily, I took my gown with me even though she ripped the top part of it. I ended up wearing something entirely different.

As any bride knows, finding the right wedding gown is only one part of the challenge of the dress. Alterations. The most complicated alterations you could ever imagine. And as a petite woman, (5’2) there were many, many changes to be made for my gown.
Mila is an expert seamstress, with a special eye for fit and design. I think she may have almost completely took apart my dress for it to fit into my frame. She listened to my fit preference — form-​fitting so I wouldn’t get lost — and made sure it fit impeccably.
Additionally, Mila created a beautiful belt for my dress, using jeweled ribbon I found at Britex. It completed the gown, and again, fit perfectly.
Mila was easy to work with, flexible with her schedule and fairly priced.
I highly recommend Mila for your alterations, especially with your wedding dress!

Mila is so amazing to work with and incredibly talented! I bought my dress in NYC then moved to SF and needed a local tailor to get my wedding dress in shape for the wedding.
I was nervous to give my wedding dress to just anyone but Mila had great Unilocal reviews so I put my trust in her. Her shop is located right on Chestnut which is convenient to get to. Mila is also very flexible with scheduling and makes it easy for you to make an appointment.
I also brought in my great grandma’s veil which has been worn by several women in my family a number of different ways. I worked with Mila to make the veil look more current and she understood my personal style and maintaining the integrity and history of the veil. It looked beautiful and I got several comments on my «antique looking» veil. I’ve included photos of both my dress and veil for reference. I highly recommend Mila.

Let me explain… I found the most amazing dress but really material :) Over the course of a year Mila TRANSFORMED my dress into my perfect vision. On the big day, the dress could not have been more stunning. She was beyond kind, professional and talented. About three months after I bought the dress I was diagnosed with a severe thyroid problem. It resulted in me gaining weight uncontrollably but not one tear was ever shed. Mila was always supportive and kind in her ways and reassured me it would be beautiful… and it was.
