I went to pick up my cake I ordered over the phone and the lady told me that I could tell them to write the happy birthday sign when I pick it up because she didn’t want to mess up. When I went to pick it up a different lady helped me and I asked her to write the sign and she wanted to just stick a happy bday sign with no name and I told her no I wanted my friends name on it. She gave me a notebook to write it and I looked at her and she literally said«so fucking annoying» to herself to Chinese. Like what the fuck? Excuse your rude ass attitude, I’m the customer, this is ur job.

Their food snacks are regular portions but you have to get use to their preparation. It was a Go For Success from the time it opened, the crowd never stopped coming. All their pastries are good to look at & their prices are low low low, which is totally affordable. Especially like their strawberry cream. Whoever the owner is, they have set the tone in Chinatown that their place is clean as a bean. Great example to the community!

I felt like an insider! This bakery in Chinatown was one of the only shops open in my early morning walk. It was busy without being over crowded. I tried 2 savory buns. The ham & sweet pork was salty with a creamy center(may have been a soft cheese). I don’t know exactly what it was except delicious. The second roll was curry beef. It was good but didn’t compare with the pork. I would return and will send friends!

I love asian bread and have been looking for a nice clean asian bread store in sf and randomly saw this place while walking around Definitely one of the cleanest bakeries i passed by in chinatown The egg tart was okay, not terrible but not the best. It has a really soft texture and yolky? Taste Bbq pork bun which was pretty good ! Had the yummy soft asian bread on outside that i lovee~ Matcha roll tasted super sweet and artificial. Would not recommend this one at all The ume/taro pastry was also not that pleasing nor was the red bean pastry which is usually my favorite bread — it had a hard texture and was flaky . Cash only !

What a cute neighborhood bakery. If your looking for a quick breakfast pastry or have a sweet craving, this is the bakery for you. Very reasonable prices and selection is great. Prices range from $ 1.25−2.25 on the different pastries. Pastries are either sweet or savory. Today we tried the Crab Bacon tart, the cheese Danish, curry beef pastry. The crab bacon tart was okay. For being made with bacon I would have expected it to be amazing, but it was just okay– the downfall is they use imitation crab, blah. The cheese Danish was fresh and the cheese was more of a sweet cream cheese. The curry beef pastry was pretty reasonable. Again this place is great if your looking for a quick breakfast item to go with your morning brew. Great selection at great prices!

Like always I am a bit overwhelmed with their selections and was walking back and forth with tray and tongs in my hands for 10+ minutes. Tourist, sigh… Seaweed pork bun did not statisfy me. Brioche was soft and fluffy, so does their sliced toast. Red bean bun was a bit dry and lacking filling. Curry pastry was good size and flacky, better be for $ 1.60. The ham and pork floss bun is still singing in my happy belly! Customer service can be a bit poor. But hey, it’s Chinatown. It’s part of the charm ya know.

I like the self serve style of this bakery, it saves a lot of time instead waiting in line to be helped, plus each pastry /baked item is already named and priced on the shelf, so I dont know how some people wouldnt understand how much for each item? it’s clearly posted right in front of you when you select your items. The Ham Pork Sung Rolls priced at $ 1.20 each are one of my favorites! they taste best when toasted /warmed up, I like the cheese filling. I tried the Almond Croissants and they were dry and crispy on the outside but chewy & doughy on the inside? I think they were not fully baked properly judging by the texture inside. The Coconut claws & pork buns were pretty good too, just about anything here that looks good tastes good, they keep the shelves well stocked with fresh items. This is more like a modern Chinese Bakery, kind of a like a fusion old school and modern mixed in, lots of new one of a kind and unusual stuff not found at the typical asian bakery.

There’s a lot of bakeries in Chinatown here in San Francisco but Fancy caught our eyes because honestly it was one of the cleanest there. As you expect from an asian bakery, it’s was packed with cheap sweet and savory pastries. All looking delicious, I grabbed a tray and started filling it up! Got the pineapple and black bean bun, that was too bean-y and not so much pineapple-y. I didn’t mind it though but I wish the black bean was crushed into a paste not left as beans. The second bun was the Japanese honey, it was warm and absolutely delicious! The lemon jelly roll was good but a little gooey . As for the highlight it was definitely the chocolate mousse! Oh my ! absolutely heavenly. Three layers of chocolate mouse topped with chocolate pieces, dark sweet and white! so, so good!

They have ONE specific bun that no one else has. ~Onion Crumb Roll~ I love this. Although sometimes it may be a bit more sweet than others but it is so good. I love the shredded pork that they have. There are layers of onions/green onions and shredded pork all over the rolls. I LOVEIT TRYIT: D

My rating is solely based on the Japanese Honey Bun I just tried today. When I bought it I thought it was just a regular bun sweetened with honey and dusted with sugar on top but boy was I pleasantly surprised by a sweet milk custard in the center! This bun was SO good that I wish I bought more than one! It was very fluffy and moist, with the sugar-crusted top part of the bun giving it a nice crunch. The filling inside was not overly sweet, somewhat addicting, not greasy. It cost $ 1.05 and it’s worth every penny. There’s a wide selection of baked buns, tarts, cakes, bread, and pastries to choose from so you might be overwhelmed initially, especially when there are a lot of people. Just grab a tray and pair of tongs and circle around(you might circle around like 5x like I did cuz i’m so indecisive lol). I haven’t tried many of their items, but I’ve had a bite of their BBQ Pork bun, and I feel like you can get better ones elsewhere for cheaper. The filling wasn’t very flavorful and the bottom of the bread was too thin so became soggy very fast. However, their pork floss rolls are pretty yummy, and it’s a pretty popular option for many people.

The pastries here are pretty cheap but they didn’t satisfy my asian pastry cravings. There are way better places to get asian pastries in Chinatown.

Growing up in Manila, hot dog buns were a snack staple in our household. Here, it’s only 95 cents but I didn’t like the sweet tasting bun it came with. Also tried the green tea sponge roll and that was lacking in tea taste as well. Maybe I chose the wrong items? I don’t think I’ll be back considering the dozens of other Chinese bakeries on the same street.

Great place to go for random pastries /desert cravings. I particularly like the lotus seed buns, moon cake, and sou. Just around the corner from our condo and inexpensive.

Heard about this place from the fam and it was some very tasty stuff. The style is more similar to Sheng Kee vs 85C and I was impressed with the freshness and fluffiness of all the buns and breads I tried. The layout is just like those aforementioned bakeries too — grab a tray and a pair of tongs and go to town. Of note, don’t leave without trying the HK milk tea here. It has the richness in the tea that very few other places can pull off.

Just came across this place randomly and it was a pleasant surprise. The best item I bought was the white lotus moon cake. Very tasty and fancy looking. I also got the taro dessert balls, and I would rate those as pretty bad. Felt like I was eating chalk. I’ll avoid those next time.

Went to Fancy Wheat Field Bakery during my hunt for Egg Tarts(since Golden Gate Bakery is temporarily closed). Fancy Wheat Field’s egg tart was mediocre, the crust wasn’t flaky and was actually pretty hard. The egg part was sweet but not creamy enough in my opinion. Cash only.

Running through the streets with Maricella H and ran into this little bakery. We saw buns so we went in. The selection was small and we had a hard time figuring out how much everything was because nothing was labeled. The lady seemed more interested in baking than selling the goods. We asked how much the pork buns are and she said $ 0.80. When we tried to pay she said $ 1.50 leading me to believe it was $ 1.50 each, but I think she meant $ 1.50 for two instead of $ 1.60. Long story short, we both paid her and got the wrong change. She over charged us $ 1. Man, it was hard to pay for some buns! The buns were good, not the best I’ve had. There was not a lot of filling but the bun had a great texture. Next time I go back I will not overpay!

Bun for bun, this place is the Chinatown version of Sheng Kee, Kee Wah, etc(take your pick). The trays and tongs are communal and to be honest, I’m not sure how often they get cleaned between use — probably a contributing factor to the 54⁄100 health score? But the interior is bright and fairly modern compared to all the other Chinatown stores. They have a good variety of buns, loaves of bread, and cakes… some of which are really different. Bought a green tea roll with red bean filling… two of my favorite things smushed into one? Yes please. Unfortunately it doesn’t taste like Green Tea… or Red Bean, SADFACE. Instead, it had a flavor that was tasted like rose water… eh, kind of gross. One thing I did notice though is that if you buy multiple buns, they just put it all into a plastic bag. Other bakeries(like Sheng Kee or Kee Wah) will individually wrap each bun in its own plastic baggie… to prevent flavor mixing. Cash only.
