Elite Event: The Coconut Grove @ Trocadero Club

Walking up about four blocks up Geary St. from Union Square is the Trocadero Club, the location of the Unilocal Elite Event at The Coconut Grove @The Trocadero Club.
After checking in with South Bay CM, Abby S., at the door, we were in the club. Getting a reusable bag courtesy of Instacart, which contained an Instacart coupon and a Unilocal Elite beach towel. Then my +1 and I were greeted by CM Jon A., who invited us to grab one of the coconut cocktails. They also served several other drinks to quench our thirsts as well.

The appetizers… there were four different types including a roast beef crostini, a chicken mango crostini, an smoke trout endive appetizer, a mushroom cucumber appetizer and bite size sweets that were set out on tables and a server did a great job circulating the floor with the apps as well.

This was a nice intimate event with plentiful drinks and food for all to enjoy. Thanks Unilocal and CM, Jon A. for this great Elite event and Trocadero Club for allowing us Unilocalers to check out your great lounge.

Trocadero Club is in the TL but that doesn’t phase me because I grew up in SF. It’s situated at the corner of Leavenworth so you won’t see much of the «TL» action. Easily accessible by public transportation and a short walk to BART if you dare.
Coconuts brought to you by Instacart? Yes, please! That’s the most refreshing drink I’ve had all day! I’m glad there were enough for everyone. The bartenders did an amazing job by pumping out drinks faster than we can consume them. There was still plenty left towards the end of the night.
The food — excellent small bites that went all around. This was an intimate event and the server did an excellent job making sure the trays circulated around the lounge. I really liked the roast beef bites. The desert bites were equally delicious.

With lots on the to-​do list, limited amount of time, my +1 at her exercise class, and an early rise the next morning, I debated on going to this Elite event. But loyalty and Elite logic won out and I showed up right at 6:30.
And another fine event it was. The nibbles were tasty and the drinks were libatious (is that a word?). The company was great and the venue was nice. And my +1 decided to come straight from her class.
I was a little concerned about Jon and company drilling holes in coconuts after a few drinks, but I believe they practiced responsible drilling and held off on the alcohol till after handling the power tools.
Had a great time talking with Jon, Casey, Cindy, Lam, and several others. Learned a few new spots to hit, and a few food apps to try.
And the nice mess? My +1 had a grand time, it all worked out and was well worth taking a couple hours to hang out with a fun crowd. Though consuming a few Dominican Sunsets right after Zumba may not have been the wisest thing to do.

Awesome fun vibe with amazing drinks in a real coconut! My +1 and I had about 4 refills of coconut water and rum and had a really enjoyable conversation with some fellow giants fans :)

Event started promptly at 6:30, Was greeted and offered a Reuseable Instacart bag w/​Yelp Elite towel & $ 10 off Instacart. Awesome! Perfect to throw in your car for impromptu beach/​picnic visits!
As I was grabbing my name tag, my eyes were drawn immediately to a coconut + straw! Wut. RLY GUISE? We’re so spoiled! Seriously. Thanks for coordinating all of these events.
Drinks kept magically appearing at the counter. Pours were HEAVY! Way to get us tipsy. And the bartenders were so nice.
Small cocktail bites kept flowing. I think my favorite was the tuna salad on endive. There was some corn in there which is atypical but it went well — I love corn, sooo. yeah.
There were sample-​sized dessert treats by Applebaum Bakery on the tables. From doing a quick search it looks like the have a location at Stonestown. I have no idea what I ate, it was some kinda bar with chocolate on top — it was good, so I’ll have to check it out when I’m there.
Overall, great event and location. Yes, it’s in the TL but it’s on the block of Geary so it’s not that bad (plenty of people walking around!) and the 38 busline is literally right there! Seems like a chill place to kick it with friends. I liked how it was just one long bench (no table seating), so you’re encouraged to talk to others. It’s an intimate venue (looks like it fits about 40 – 50 peeps), so it’s not an all out ‘CLUB’ — more like a lounge. We actually tried looking downstairs but it’s just a kitchen, lulz.
Me and my +1 had a great time. We will enjoy our towels and check out Instacart!
