Awesome tacos! The guys working are also friendly and awesome too! I got to try their asada, al pastor, tripas, and neck tacos. They are well sized, well mixed with onions and greens, and come with a choice of mild or hot sauce. I went with the hot sauce, but the mild one seems better. I will have to try it next time. I would recommend this taco truck!

This review is based on conversation held between myself and a friend of mine: Yooooooo! Did you say taco run?!? Game on! Where are we going? You damn well know there isn’t any parking over there right now. Insert Unilocal tag line of «I know just the place»… We’re going to Best Buy. Why and the hell would we go to Best Buy for food?!? Well my friend, you just bring your wallet since you’re buying. So we roll up and park in the lot,(always plenty of parking here by the way) and hop out and approach«the truck». I knew exactly what I was there for since I have been here numerous times before. My buddy says he’s in the mood for carne asada tacos and I tell him, you MUST try the carnitas! So he places his order for a couple of carne asada tacos and two carnitas one as well. I step up and order two carnitas, one carne asada and one al pastor as well as a horchata. There were already a couple of people waiting on their orders and before you knew it our orders were up. We had to smash at least one taco there before rushing back to the house to finish stuffing ourselves. These tacos come out piping hot and are insanely good! It makes you wonder if there is an underground tunnel leading to a kitchen with an army of grandmas throwing down on the most incredibly succulent meats you could possibly want to taste… Like it can’t be possible that all of this goodness is contained to this little truck. My buddy has since become a loyal customer and has doesn’t have to say more than I’m going to Best Buy for me to yell out what I need in my life. With this being said, do not hesitate to give this gem a shot, you will not be disappointed!

I always see a line when I come by so today was the day I finally cured my curiosity and I was NOTDISAPPOINTED! I had the mild chicken tacos which were absolutely delicious! I am already thinking of what I am going to try next! If you are in the City, near Best Buy and you are hungry, this is the spot to stop!!!

Had three tacos: pollo, carne asada, and el pastor. All three were very tasty, and I will definitely be back. It is also very convenient to be able to pull into the best buy lot to park.

Messy & Delicious. I don’t even care about the salsa running down my chin. No, I’m way too busy devouring my carnitas or chicken tacos like it’s 1999. When I was on a very tight budget a few years ago, this was one of my favorite food trucks. That’s saying a lot, considering I practically made a lifestyle out of SF food trucks for several weeks. A full, absolutely delicious meal for 3 bucks? Yes, please! The meat is tender. It’s cooked to perfection. The flavor is bomb. I mean, I totally INHALED these tacos. I’m having an out of body experience right now. I’m seeing myself licking my fingers, on the hood of my car, after polishing off my tacos in the Best Buy parking lot. Ok… I never actually sat on the hood. But the rest of that visual? It happened many times. I don’t ever think about appliances or electronics when I hear the words«Best Buy.» I think of these tacos. 5 stars.

The best meaty burritos in the mission. Hands down. Order the al pastor super burrito or the pollo asado tacos with salsa verde.

Amazing Tacos. Freshly made. I suggest always going with the spicy no other way to go. I went with Pollo Asado and Carnitas delicious. These are definitely the street tacos that I have been searching for. Perfect size and and portion. My only concern was the price point however for the quality I was happy to pay for it. This location also happens to have easy parking within the Best Buy parking lot with is a double whammy of your also looking for electronics or some window shopping.

These are among the best carnitas tacos in the city. Better than the food truck park under the freeway, and better than Gallardos’ tacos. Delicious, moist, flavorful pork with a wonderful spicy rojo salsa. Simply the best.

Great burritos only down 4 stars though because the guacamole and sour cream is non existent even though they say it’s in it. The horchata is homemade and delicious! The best part for me is the fact the burritos are grilled and not a regular cut of the mill soggy steamed tortilla earns extra kudos.

Do you remember those cartoons where a hot plate of «something» was permeating with smoke from the yummy fragrance, leaving a trail towards that a character’s nose? Doing a return at Best Buy, I was intoxicated by the smell emanating from this truck parked just outside the parking lot. The steak odor was obviously delicious so it was a no brainer walking over as two guys ordered. After a short menu study, my choices were the Asada(steak) and Lengua(beef tongue) for $ 2.50 and $ 3.00 respectively, requesting mild salsa( ). After about five minutes, I walked through the afternoon drizzle back to my car and devoured them… no, not just ate them, but Godzilla chomped those suckers down! The big two pluses were that they were surprisingly excellent, especially coming from a food truck and the price… come on now, what can you get for $ 5.50 these days! Will be back and highly recommend if you are shopping at Best Buy or in the neighborhood. Just follow your nose!

Finally got to try this truck after seeing it parked outside of best buy for all these years. The highlight was the cabeza which I found to be particularly soft(as it usually) and flavorful(which it won’t necessarily be). I had some of the porky ones but they were unmemorable.

Food: 4 star. Competent and tasty tacos, and a pretty good torta. Ambiance: 1 star. Aggressive homeless folks nearby.

I hired the Tonayense truck to cater a company lunch for my animation studio, and they were AMAZING! We’re already eager to have them back. First, the tacos were so delicious! They get the meat so tender, and everyone especially liked their beans and rice. Pretty presentation too. And can we just say, $ 2 a taco? It’s like a perfect meal! Elsa, the coordinator, was responsive and professional. The head cook Damon was incredibly friendly and really made sure everyone was taken care of. The prices are awesome, there was no cleanup on our part … pretty much a perfect catering situation. Highly recommended! 5 stars.

My favorite tacos anywhere in the city. Two veggie tacos spicy with all the fixings and a bottle of water for only $ 5. It feels like robbery. It’s so unbelievably tasty. I also love the carne asada!

Favorite Mexican food truck in SF. Seriously. I usually do a walk around the StrEat Food Park thinking I’ll try something new, but always finding myself walking across the street back to this taco truck. I CRAVE their street tacos. I have tried most of their meats, except for lengua… and they’re all sooo good! The tripe and carnitas are my go-to meats. The tripe isn’t steamed, wet tripe(like in menudo or dim sum) it’s FRIED and CRUNCHY with SOO much flavor. Almost like a fried pork skin/fat texture. The carnitas have a perfect balance of crunchy and meaty. It’s not too fried to where you’re biting down on rocks and the meats are hard to pull apart on the taco. It’s just crispy enough for you to know it’s fried and soft enough to where it pulls apart on a bite. Ugh drooling. Three tacos and a drink will satisfy me. Ask for spicy and they’ll throw on some pickled jalapenos for ya!

This truck sits on Harrison at around 14th street, just outside of Best Buy. You might not think that it’s a great place to get a taco, but you’d be wrong. The tacos here are no frills but hands down delicious, and this is considering my extensive experience testing tacos when I lived in Dallas(which has excellent tacos by the way). I went for the carne asada, and it was fresh and well spiced, with onions, cilantro, and some pickled jalapenos and veggies which were a nice addition. I haven’t tried a burrito, but I expect it to be amazing as well. The only down side to this place is that there isn’t really a convenient place to eat. Maybe better if you just pick it up and take it home?

I’ve been meaning to try this Taco Truck ever since I heard about it years ago. If memory serves me right, I’ve had this bookmarked for over 5 years. Due to it’s location, I rarely go to the area as it’s always out of my way. This past Sunday as the Wifey picked me up from work, she wanted to go to Tartine Bakery. I took Harrison St. as it was the quickest way towards the Mission District and as I was passing by Best Buy on 14th St., I caught a glimpse of the Taco Truck parked on the side of the curb. I quickly made a U-turn and parked in the lot. There were only a few people in line and it went by quick. Like any typical Taco Truck, the menu is posted on the side of the truck. Wifey ordered the Bucha and I opted for the regular burrito and choose Lengua for protein. Aside from the aforementioned protein, they also have Asada, Al Pastor, Pollo, Pollo Asado, Carnitas, Cabeza, Tripitas and Vegeteriano for them plant-eating people. Unlike some other Taco Trucks, our order came out quick and super fast.(Take note here) Wifey’s Buche Taco was doused with a large amount of salsa verde that it was drowning and the meat needed to be recucitated. On it’s own, the meat was OK, but it was overpowered by the sauce. My Lengua was filled with inconsistency in terms of flavor and texture. I love Lengua, and I love that the meat is tender, moist and pops with bold, gamy, wonderful flavors… all were lacking in their version. Which dawned on me that they probably had everything prepped and reheated so that’s why it came out fast. I prefer mines cooked to order so they won’t dry while wilting under a heat lamp. I don’t know what happened, but whatever they did in the past they’re certainly not doing it now. I’ve heard so many good things about this place, but finally getting to experience it left me a bit disappointed. There’s better Taco Trucks out there.

This might have been my first food truck experience in San Francisco! Hard to believe when food trucks are everywhere now.(Or maybe, I’m just old!) But it does speak to the longevity and consistency of El Tonayense. They serve up the best tacos with a variety of meats: Asada — Beef El Pastor — Marinated pork Pollo — Chicken Pollo Asada — Grilled chicken Carnitas — Fried pork Lengua — Tongue Cabeza — Head and cheek Tripitas — Tripe Buche — Neck Vegetariano — Vegetarian Tacos are $ 2 each and so worth it! And their salsa has just the right amount of spicy kick. After all these years, El Tonayense remains as one of my favorite food trucks. It’s no frills and all about the food! Can’t ask for more than that!

Tacos. Quesadillas. Burritos. Make it simple. This is not just a taco truck, this is THE taco truck. Super fast service, super tasty food. I’ve had several tacos, a burrito, and if the quesadillas wouldn’t have been sold out at 8pm on a Friday, I would’ve spend my bucks on those as well. Where else can you eat yourself through the entire universe of Mexican street food, roll back to your car, and drive home — satisfied, and already planning your next visit. Taco-mania from now on.
