Only bar seating so only good for groups of 2 – 3 people. Food: Uni and antimony crudo were good. Ordered Uni and ikura nigiri, also yummy. Shared a couple of rolls which were ok. Service: not great. Staff wasn’t very friendly and when one of the waiters was cleaning our bar area and dropped a significant amount of soy sauce on me, no apology was uttered. Still searching for a good overall sushi place in Hayes valley.

Best sushi I have ever had. I’m obsessed. We got the Kobe beef roll, Domo roll, crab balls and another roll. 5 stars hands down. Can’t wait to come back!

Fish tacos! Crispy, flavorful fish tacos! I never had anything like it. We were able to enjoy our large beers while waiting to be seated. The place is pretty small but such an intimate setting. Fresh fish and great flavors. Will definitely be back!

I want in on a whim after getting a massage across the street at EarthBody Day Spa. How lovely to treat myself so well! I ordered: Kampachi Kama Yaki — delicious & tender, cooked perfectly. Live Scallop — clean taste, thicker slices than I expected Chu Toro — great creamy texture, not as full flavored as I expected Shima Aji — this is a mild version of an aji, lovely Spicy Tuna Handrail — generous portion, saratcha based spice Karatamba Sake — dry sake, just as expected! I sat at the bar facing out to the street. Service was good. I will come back another time I’m sure!

Located in Hayes Valley in San Francisco, this is one of the best sushi joints I’ve ever been to! Definitely, come early — or better yet, come before they open because lines form quickly! And it’s not a big place either — seats maybe 25 – 30 people max. The best thing about this place is the presentation of their food! The presentation of their dishes looks so great that you take a moment to enjoy looking at it before stuffing your face! :D For the appetizers, definitely try the carpaccios! They are delish! Their fsh tacos are also a must! — and no, its not the type that you fold and hold with your hand. All the ingredients are layered up top and it’s held up by a round, crispy taco shell on the bottom. And definitely order the Crudos — which is similar to sashimi but served on a spoon with different seasonings and flavorings. As far as the rolls/nigiri/sashimi goes, they have the usual and from experience, it just depends on personal experience what you like to order(eg. I don’t like my fish cooked — baked or fried — when i order rolls). Overall, an excellent sushi joint to come and visit if you’re in the San Francisco earlier! The atmosphere is charming and intimate, and the employees are friendly and attentive.

For me, Domo is an unsung hero in the SF sushi scene. It’s a place I’ve been coming back to for years for its simplicity, fresh fish and chill vibe. I don’t fret about the wait — it’s never as long as they say. And really, isn’t fantastic sushi worth waiting for? I love the incredible selection; I often get pieces of sashimi here that are hard to find: versions of seabream, mackerel, bass and snapper. And you know if he has it — it’s the best or he wouldn’t purchase it.

Great«little“spot in Hayes Valley. Seats about 16 — 19 people and always had a wait. You put your name on the waiting list with a phone number and they call you. Have eaten a number of different rolls and nigiri there… TIP: What I like to do is put my name on the list for Domo and walk around the corner to Noir Lounge too have a drink.

YAYYY for delicious sushi! I recently moved to North Carolina, and as much as I like parts of it, one of things they lack is yummy SUSHI!!! Domo is small like many sushi spots, but I enjoyed the intimate atmosphere. My friend and I had a 20 minute wait on a rainy, cold Sunday night around 7pm. The green tea was flavorful and perfect on a cold night. We split the Fire Tuna Balls, Old School Negi Hama, and Salmon Citron. As delicious as the Fire Tuna Balls were, I personally enjoyed the other 2 rolls the best because they were simpler and showcased the fresh hamachi and salmon. AHHH fresh fish in sushi how I’ve MISSEDYOU!!! With Domo in the thick of Hayes Valley, it’s also close to plenty of post-dinner drinks or dessert spots. Domo is def a win in my Unilocal book!

Good sushi spot to check out if you’re looking for a decent late night meal in Hayes(that’s not BK). Pros: +Cute and intimate setting with a pretty extensive menu +Extremely fast service — we were in and out in 40 minutes even with a full restaurant +Good prices for Hayes +Open past 10 usually given how busy they are — whoooo no more wandering late at night wondering what to eat besides Grove Cons: –Limited veggie options(had the standard avo-veggie) –No miso soup for vegetarians :( Will be back!

There are a few really good sushi options in Hayes Valley so it’s hard to choose just one! But although I like both The One and O-Toro, Domo has the best Rock n’Roll of the lot! This is my go-to sushi roll and Domo did it to absolute perfection. Be warned that the restaurant is super tiny so it’s not easy to get a table. If you write your phone number on the waiting list though, you can go somewhere else in the neighborhood for a drink and they’ll call when a table is ready. Well worth a try!

Narrowly missed the lunch hour! They’re efficient with their business hours, and close from 2:30 — 5:30. I quickly ordered the Domo roll, figuring that the namesake sushi roll had to be good, but was very intrigued by their lunch special of two choosings served over rice with lettuce salad and miso soup for the equivalent price of the roll. Namesake roll: Domo(4.5÷5), basically a fancy baked California Roll with unagi and spicy mayo. I don’t like TOO spicy, and there was just enough kick to satisfy my wimpy taste buds. Plating wasn’t the prettiest since it was baked on foil and then transferred to the plate on the foil. Utility s understandable, but it didn’t look the best. I felt a little apologetic for showing up so close to closing, but didn’t feel rushed, so kudos to their good manners.

Great, fresh sushi. It is a quaint restaurant and quite cozy for a date night. There is bar seating only; facing sushi bar or windows(which allows for excellent people watching). There are also a few small outdoor tables. Service was friendly and quick. Ordered the Dragon roll from the day’s specials. It was amazing. Highly recommend if it’s an option. Will definitely be back to try more rolls!

Cute, great for a rainy day. Met my mom here for lunch since it’s close to work and she loves sushi. They have great lunch options, like miso soup, salad with nigiri sushi + CA roll, which my mom got. I got the chicken karaage and spicy tuna. $ 13 for lunch specials.

If I could give Domo a 3.5 stars, that would be my rating. Domos menu is very similar to Seiya’s in the Peninsula. Our waiter told us there are people that work at both locations at this restaurant. We came on a Sunday around 6:30pm. There was only one other couple waiting for a table inside but we wanted to be seated immediately so we took the table outside. Domo does not take reservations. As many previous Unilocalers have summarized, Domo is a good place to go if you’re into the«Westernized» Japanese restaurants. Most notable is their fish tacos. If I could do it over, I would have just ordered two of these instead of two of their rolls. We ordered the Salmon Citron roll and the Alpha Roll($ 14). The Alpha roll was good but because it was lathered in sauce rather than because of the pure quality of the fish. I liked the Salmon Citron roll and the lemon undertones. It was still overall underwhelming. The tuna poke was satisfying — Having been to Hawaii, it wasn’t a poke with the most fresh fish. The food is decent, but it is certainly overpriced. I would rather spend my money on omakase in San Mateo.

My friend took me here after we had a few beers, and we happened to be craving sushi. Fortunately we spotted an empty table on the outdoor patio and were seated immediately. There is usually a line, but I think that is mostly because this is such a small restaurant. If you want to eat here, late afternoon or early evening is best. The wait staff is friendly, and the food service is quick. I ordered the popular Fire Tuna Balls that our waiter recommended, but I found them to be disappointing. The rice was mushy, and I was not impressed by the flavor. The roll itself seemed tiny for what I was paying too. We also ordered some hot sake, which made the whole trip worth it. This place has a cool vibe and interior, but I’m not really partial to its food.

Long-ish wait(30 – 50 min) but definitely worth it! 1– really small restaurant, wait was shorter if we sat outside, so didnt really get to experience the ambience. Sitting outside was a little weird because we were across from people sitting and waiting to be seated. 2– service was slow just to get drink orders and place food orders, but once we did, the food came out quickly. 3– appetizers. Cucumber sunomono was fresh and not super sweet like you find at many of the cheaper sushi spots. 4– rolls! Fire tuna balls were good, not too spicy. Salmon citron was good, but fire tuna balls were better. ALPHAROLLWASAMAZING. Definitely get the Alpha Roll!

I’m a sushi snob. What’s fresh +‘s: + Fish taco appetizer + Window seating that allows you to look at passerbys in hip Hayes Valley What’s fishy -‘s: — Limited seating. Meant an interminable 45′ wait even though we were #2 on the list. — Nigiri was not memorable. Did the chefs not season their rice or fish? — Service was nonexistent. Meaning we got served and forgotten. Overall I can’t figure out why everyone has highly rated Domo. This place is not 4 – 5 stars when there are places such as Ichi which ranks at 4 – 5 stars. No comparison. Period.

Due to the small size this place feels up quickly! Be prepared if you are trying to nab a spot on a Friday or Saturday night. As far as the food goes– it’s an untraditional Japanese style sprinkled with Asian fusion. To start we ordered the fish tacos– a crisp tempura like seaweed topped with avocado, fish, and salsa, this was by far one of the highlights of the meal! Another roll we loved was the Domo roll(baked California roll with salmon, scallops, spicy mayo, BBQ unagi glaze, tobiko, and scallions). For a baked roll this didn’t feel too heavy, a great addition to any sushi meal! Can’t wait to come back and try more rolls :)

A quaint little sushi bar in a nice neighbourhood with a lot of food options, this definitely stands out as a good option for sushi in the core is SF. It’s a really small place and they do not take reservations, so go early if you can. If not be prepared to wait, but it will be worth it! The selection of fish is a little limited but the quality stands out. Each and every bite bursts with flavour and is how sushi should be enjoyed! Service is decent although it is hard with low staff to customer ratio. They do try their best to get to you although you will have to call for their attention now and then. Prices seem fair for the quality you are getting but this is not a great bang for your buck place as it is on the pricier side of things.

Domo doesn’t take reservations and I’m not a fan of waiting in line, but my hosts recommended it, so I built up some patience and signed up on the list. And I am so glad I did; this food, it is definitely worth the wait! Based on the Unilocal recommendations, I had pre-decided I would go for the fish taco and crudo made of Sea Urchin and Tuna. In addition I had the Kobe beef and a «Daddy roll. I honestly wouldn’t be able to choose a favourite of the four dishes. They all were so delicious and full of flavours. I was almost hoping that it wouldn’t be enough food, so that I could choose another tempting dish from the menu, but«unfortunately» it was more than enought food. The dry sake recommended by the waiter, was a good match. The place seats approx. 16 – 17 people inside, and has three tables outside. I arrived at about 8:20pm on a Sunday night, and had to wait 25 – 30 minutes with two couples in line before me. More guests arrived after me, so there is no doubt Domo could fill up a larger restaurant if they wanted. My compliments to the Chefs and the kitchen team, I’m willing to wait in line the next time I am back in the city.
