HIDEYOPHONES. It makes me sad to write this review because I love going to dance at Bootie. But I had my phone stolen here TWICE. Once in January and once last night. My fiend also had her phone stolen. I also met another person who said they had their phone stolen here too. I filed a police report this time. The place is clearly being targeted by an organized group. The management and security really needs to be working with the police to solve this problem. I sadly don’t think I can justify going back here after this happening to me twice. Update: I’m at the AT&T store and there is another girl here who also got her phone stolen at Bootie last night. So ridiculous.

20+ iPhones STOLENINONENIGHT. I went with 5 friends last Saturday and we had a pretty fun time until – after taking a photo on the first floor of the bar – I noticed my phone was no longer at the bottom of my zippered purse. I knew immediately it had been stolen and my heart sank. I logged into iCloud and erased it within just a few minutes(someone had already turned it off). It totally killed our night. I talked to the bouncer who said it happens OFTEN and to go to coat check to file a report. While I was there 4 other girls were also filing reports — they had been on the same level, and had also just taken a photo before their phones were stolen. I asked the(very kind) coat check lady how many phones had been stolen already that night and she said 15. This was about 1:15 and I’m guessing that many MANY more were stolen than just those 15. Whether they were just unreported, not noticed yet, or not stolen yet — I’m SURE there were more. The professional level of theft and the all too casual response of staff made me never want to go back here. I understand that phones get stolen here and there, but when 20+ are stolen in one night, you should be calling the police. That’s $ 15,000 in technology and just really unsafe. After I shared my experience with people, they told me they too know people who have had phones/wallets stolen from here and even people who have been roofied and woken up in local hospitals. PLEASE beware of this place. Keep your phone in your bra or something. Your zippered purses and sobriety are not enough. Guys — just keep a hand on your phone. It turned a fun night into a shitty, shitty month for my budget. Luckily, it was just a phone and a credit card and no physical harm, but it still doesn’t feel good to know someone’s stolen something off your person.

Staff is pretty cool. The venue needs better air circulation but the bathrooms are clean and the food access is cool. Saw Metal Church there tonight and it was a great experience. No real parking though. That was a bummer.

Went kinda late on a Saturday night. $ 20 to get in, $ 11 for red bull vodka… But had a great space for dancing. Loved the fact I could crossover into the pizza place next door. Overall I had a great experience. Great music!

Not sure if it’s a gay bar or not. There seemed to be a lot of dudes dancing together and maybe just a couple girls in the whole place. I was there Friday night so maybe it was just a fluke night. But late night the place did not seem very hopping. In fact it was not crowded at all. People were drunk dancing(as was I) but the vibe was not like a good club should be. There was no cover though around midnight-1am and the drinks seemed pretty strong. If you’re drunk, go here and rip up the dance floor and you won’t care. If you’re not drunk you’ll prolly think it’s a bit of a lame scene.

This is the first nightlife venue I went to in SF and I’ve had nothing but 5 star experiences here. The bouncers are mostly polite and even Crack jokes with you. The crowd is fun and even a bit wild, ready to have a crazy time. The 4 rooms are perfect… if you don’t like one you have 3 more to choose from. The drinks are a bit high but not outrageous. The cover is affordable. The fact that you can dance on stage with no one caring and the weekly blow up doll are two things I love as well. The Saturday night Booty party seems to be the favorite!

After my roommate and I both got our phones simultaneously stolen here, I can assure you that there’s some sort of phone theft ring that either operates here or is formed by DNA Lounge employees. The fact that they don’t even answer their lost and found emails or voicemail is super sketchy.

Water fountain on ground level is a clutch move, that’s one of my big takeaways from this venue. Went here for a Vevo-sponsored concert. The line to get in was a little lengthy, but not unbearable. Drinks inside are your typical overpriced nonsense, with three basic drinks(two draft beers in plastic cups and a Diet Coke/Jameson) running a total of $ 52(they do accept credit cards). If you’re going here without a pregame, you’re foolish and will get gouged on pricing. Thankfully, we ate dinner and had beverages at the bar across the street, so it was a one and done situation for me. Not sure about the food situation there, since I didn’t have any. I want to say they don’t serve anything. At least there’s two bars inside to thin out some of the wait times. Acoustics aren’t the best, but for a free concert, I can’t complain too much. There’s an upstairs area that may be VIP-only all the time, or it may have just been that night. The coat check is up there too. Not a lot of seating either; there’s a long bench on one side, but it doesn’t hold that many bodies. The womens’ bathroom is located on the right side of the stage, and the mens on the left. Pretty small inside for the mens so you’ll likely have a line ahead of you when you need to relieve yourself. Overall, not a bad place to spend a Wednesday night. Also have a crepes food truck across the street if you still need to feed the beast. Parking around the corner is reasonable as well.

Very spacious and you can go into different rooms if you ever get bored. Each room has its own character. There could be some creepy people that may hover around you the entire night lol. Bars won’t provide you with water — you’ll have to find the water fountains Coat check is about $ 3 per item $ 10 cover to get in(the last time I went). Overall a pretty loud area, but I enjoyed DNA

I guess it is difficult to review a place when you are really reviewing an event but I will do my best. I came to the Wooden Nickel Circus April Fools event on Friday April 1st. It was supposed to start at 10PM but really started at 11PM or so. As a native New Yorker I figured it was because things run a little slower on the West Coast. haha… But honestly it was worth the wait! The drinks were priced just as they would be in Manhattan, NY about $ 13 and I’m also used to the $ 4 for a bottle of water but when there is nothing else but tap water available from a fountain you do what is necessary. The bathrooms were pretty gross but I guess again it is to be expected from a hipster bar and something I’m used to dealing with. The bartenders were friendly and all other people were friendly as well. I didn’t try the signature cocktail for the night«hand job» which was Southern Comfort and Pepsi since I don’t like either but loved the creative name. I really enjoyed the performance from The Fantasy Orchestra, acrobats/burlesque performers, and the funky EDM/Carnival sounds from DJ clown. It was a good time but I guess I would only come to the lounge for another event, don’t know what it would be like on a regular night…

It is SOCIALLYIRRESPONSIBLE for a bar to not provide a glass of tap water, it should be illegal too. The shows are great, but there is a sad truth, customer service is dead here and it’s not the staffs’ fault, it’s the GREEDY, RIDICULOUSPOLICYMAKERS, I would hate to be the staff there who have to tell people things like, «I know you paid $ 28 to view a show in our venue but no, we can not give you a glass of water.» Seriously!!! Seriously, but wait it gets better. I bought a seat that specifically required me to be on the 2nd floor, one of the manager/security guys apologized for the policy but nonetheless enforced it. He offered to go get me a glass of water from the DNA pizza place. I respectfully declined, I felt it was a bit degrading, he did not create the policy. I decided to leave through the pizza place and grab a glass of water but GUESSWHAT, they would not give me a glass of water because i did not purchase food!!! No, I didn’t get food, i JUST paid for a ticket to a show in your venue, which i now regretfully do, considering the LACKOFCUSTOMERSERVICE!

I have always loved coming to DNA lounge, however I was left with a bad taste in my mouth recently. The music was great, people were amazing. My only issue was customer service not so good. I felt insignificant. I was having allergy issue needing water. They would not provide me with any cup. Not a big deal I know. However, I have not experienced this kind of treatment since I flew frontier airlines. It has not discouraged me from revisiting DNA lounge but I will bring my own water in the future.

It’s not the cleanest of clubs, but has its history. The depressed and short mannered staff make it an unwelcoming experience. The bartenders hate their jobs and their drinks prove this theory. The pizza is just about the only good thing to come about, past the performer you’re there to see.

Shows are pretty decent. Anything from ravey to metal. The drinks aren’t cheap but you can get a pitcher of dank beer at the pizza joint for 14 $ The pizza isn’t very good but lots of other options like the loaded tater tots have saved me many a drunken night. Lots of seating the bathrooms can be a bit sketch. The staff are firm yet friendly.

I used to love this place for many reasons: The diversity of shows they have, the cool stage, the many rooms, the pizza place next door, etc. I’ve probably been here over 30 times. But they do have one or two terribly rude employees. I went to a rock concert here, and in the middle of the show I came to the pizza place to get a glass of water, part of the same venue, though the door that connects them. Many people do that, and with your stamp, you can come back in. The fire marshal came and gave an order and they had to stop allowing people back in. The guy who explained the situation was cool. He said he was sorry and that we would let us in as soon as possible, he started notifying people who wanted to step out for a minute that there were no re-entries anymore, which is fair, but we didn’t get such warning. Then a horrible lady by the name of McKenzie started yelling at us, the paying customers who bought a ticket for a show we couldn’t see. I politely asked for a refund. She ignored my request. I asked to speak to the manager. She ignored my request and yelled at me once more. We all had friends inside, drinks we just bought, coats in the coat check etc. She kept yelling at us, repeating herself over and over again. In the end we didn’t get to see the show. We missed all of it. No refund. No nothing. I managed to get the email of the manager, by the name of Tim. I have emailed him many times. No response. This sucks. Tim and McKenzie ruined this place for me.

My experiences with DNA Lounge have been limited to a handful of Monday nights(Death Guild) and one Saturday(Bootie SF! Whooo!!), but they’ve always been good times. The mashup music fest that is Bootie(super cool that they give out cd’s of the nights mixes!) tends to be more way crowded with your usual weekend partiers, but the energy and dancing is way worth trying out at least once. Be prepared to rub elbows though as it really does get packed as the night goes on. DG is, by comparison, much more relaxed in the way of personal dancing space. Though the heavy music may not be super familiar with non-regulars, there is almost always a good beat that you can really warm up to. I was certainly a bit apprehensive and unsure of what to expect my first time here, but really everyone either minds their own business or is a total sweetheart… no matter how bad-ass they might look all decked out in goth gear, lol. You can go all out on the dancefloor with feeling like you’re being judged… I’ve seen everything from people gracefully«spar-dancing», to folks having some stomping fun on stage, to quasi latin ballroom, to people just sort of swaying around as they enjoy listening to the music. If you are in want of a good night of dancing, I think Death Guild is a great place for that! …Did I mention DNA Pizza is next door serving up some DERICIOUS pizza well after closing? Hype!

I came here for a concert that was going on. The venue is nice and big with bars both upstairs and downstairs. Cool place to come hang out on a weekend and listen to some music. The nice thing about this place is the pizza lounge that is open 24 hours right next door, which makes it very convenient for you to grab a bite.

DNAPizza Review: DNA Lounge isn’t usually what comes to mind when you want to order pizza. But it should be! Did you know this place has FREEDELIVERY10:30am — 4am? Yes, they are actually open during the day when you are a real person! And did you know… they have not 1, but TWO kinds of vegan pizza? With TWO kinds of vegan cheese? Lactards can I get a HELLYEAH??? My favorite is the Okie Dokie Artichokie Pizza. The cheese actually melts! I usually pile a bunch of meat on it and it’s super delicious. YUM. This place is now my definite go-to pizza place, even during daytime hours and not just for drunchies! Woo!

I’d been to several other Bootie nights in other cities but once I moved to SF this was on the top of my list. This place is way clubby-club if you know what I mean. Not necessarily a bad thing. What got me though, and it’s weird because I’ve never experienced this before in other cities, was that they cut off booze at 2am yet stayed open until 4. I’d really hate to be the waitress that was walking around telling people to either slam their drinks into their livers or slam them into a trash can. However, people who are probably used to that didn’t really seem to complain! Weird to me. Floors were really sticky. Cover is expensive if you don’t get there early. But they do have a pizza joint attached… sooo? Maybe?

Been here now twice, both times on a Monday for«Death Guild» and I enjoyed my time there. The people were friendly, the music was good and I really like the design of the club! So many Bars, ATMs, Dance Floors and cool party people. Definitely a place to go goth-clubbing when you’re in San Francisco! ^^v^^ Put on you dancing shoes and rock through the night! Would love to explore some of the other events they host.

I went to the DNA Lounge to see a band. It was crowded as heck. I agree with another Unilocaler, the bathroom is disgusting. It’s a great place to see a band. It’s intimate enough to enjoy the bands up close. It gets super hot in there. I had a little irritating moment with the bartender. I asked if there was a girly drink with grenadine and she was rude and said«Ya it’s called a Dirty Shirley«and she turned her back on us. Yikes so rude.

First place we stopped after the airport because it’s open 24 hours and has vegan options. I got the Sinatra vegan pizza. It’s good… But $ 6 a slice is kind of expensive. 24 hour pizza makes it worth it. Cool atmosphere. I’d come back!

A scam. Went here for Halloween: stood on line and paid $ 20 for enteric before 10pm. Around midnight I go to the cafeteria area of the club(for which apparently one has to take a door that’s considered an exit) then, after 10 minutes, I try to get in again showing my stamp and the bouncers very rudely say they can’t let anybody in because«fire marshalls» won’t let anybody in for the moment. But here’s the thing: they were still allowing in new paying customers! So I’m afraid they were trying to empty the club in order to accommodate more money… I mean people. The crowd who got ejected — me included — was furious. All the other considerations about the club pale in comparison to this fraud.

Recently came here to see Pushing the Sun(my fave local band) and POD, not a fan of that band. But I will say, the other bands playing until POD rocked. But let me tell you about the place since it is a review for DNA lounge. The place is kind of quirky with a pizza place on one side, a bar on the other. The pizza is NOBUENO! But, if you are drunk or hungry enough, it will taste good. Trust me, I speak form experience. LOL. It was SOOOO hot in the restaurant side, we were ALL literally sweating our asses off. I don’t think there is air conditioning in there. The bar side is okay. there isn’t any seating, unless you are VIP and then there are like 4 booths on the side. So, no way to even ask for VIP if you get there later in the evening. Standing room only is how this place works. There appears to be an upstairs section, which I don’t understand for the life of me, why it isn’t open for all people in the bar, it would open the space up a little. but I don’t really care enough to be mad about it. I don’t like all ages places in these type of environments and it was frustrating trying to get to the bar to order a drink and having to step around kids… just not my thing. I will say this, the bartenders were pretty cool, some more than others, but the drinks were priced fairly and the sound system is really good there, making the music loud but understandable. Some places, it gets too loud and all your hear is distortion, but the sound system was bad ass here. Probably won’t return again unless its another cool band I love playing there, but something tells me with the amount of people(all ages) that were there, they don’t need my patronage and they will be just fine.

Came here for Bootie and now I understand why it’s an SF standard. Don’t forget to bring cash, pay for cover before 10PM(so it’ll be $ 10), and remember when it gets crazy to stay away from near the stage or you’ll have several drunk people falling on top of you. What makes Bootie so great? The mash-ups for sure. The different rooms, including one that suspiciously looks like a dungeon. The weird videos. The midnight entertainment. No matter what you’re into, there will probably be a room and a DJ that can accommodate. The only thing to warn about is to make sure your friend group stays close and tends to stay in the same place. Otherwise, one person will get lost, try to find everyone, get lost, and then go home with his coat forgetting he had your keys. Then you’ll have to crash at your friend’s place and share her bed with her because she doesn’t have an air mattress and won’t let you sleep on the floor. I mean even if I tried telling you this was all hypothetical you wouldn’t believe me.

Ravers, dancers paradise. For a $ 20 cover charge I got in on a Saturday night and heard the best live mashup I’ve ever heard. The place was packed and everybody seemed to be having a great time. They have four dancefloors with different DJs each place. The place is dirty, dark, and crowded with a vibe only slightly less crazy than at a rave. If raving and dancing is your thing — this is the place to go! As with any good dance party, you can’t avoid bumping into people, and you’ll probably also have both your own and other people’s sweat in your clothes by the end of the night. Loved it!

The venue is alright. More constricted, and not a lot of places to seat. Although I had no problem standing, but in a constricted place where its a full house. I dont find standing for 2hrs quite appealing, when crowds are shoulder to shoulder. Other than that, no cover fee… Awesome. But I guess, you get what you come in for… Free Entry = More People = More business for the venue to buy drinks/food at a reasonable cost to compensate for the free cover when patrons are hella Hungry & Thirsty.

WARNING — Watch your stuff like a HAWK! Especially ladies with cross-body purses. My phone and wallet were pickpocketed right out of my purse, as was another girl’s in my group(also from a cross-body purse, I guess it’s an easy target). Looking at other reviews it seems like thefts are way too common here. Story time: I came with a group of girls one Saturday night for Bootie SF. We’d bought tickets online(They advertise $ 15 but tack on a $ 3 fee each, why not just say it’s $ 18?) so we didn’t have to worry about lines or paying the $ 20 cash cover. There was a drag show going on onstage, then around midnight the show wrapped up and the DJs started playing the mashups Bootie is famous for. The music is fun and I thought it was cool that they were handing out mix CDs after the drag show. Normally I don’t carry any cash but I read that everything is cash only so I brought some extra cash with me. Which was really unfortunate when my wallet was stolen. I can cancel cards, but not cash :(We also discovered that the pizza bar does take credit card, AND the drinks were cheaper there! We asked for a shooter at the bar across from the stage and were told it’d be $ 12 each. Then the bartender told us the pizza bar took card so we went there and the drinks were $ 8 there. Ultimately, I probably won’t come back. $ 20 for cover is pretty steep, cash only is silly in this day and age, and it’s just not that safe in this area. But +1 because my friends had a good time and +1 for the pizza place. TIPS: — Watch your purse — pickpockets are everywhere — Don’t drive — I read reviews about cars being broken into — Bar in the adjoining pizza place takes credit card and is cheaper. Just make sure you have a handstamp to get back in — Save $ 2 on tickets to Bootie SF online

My brother’s band was performing at a Battle of the Bands at this place. I’m not big into the nightlife scene, especially in SF. My best friend lives out here though, so she gave me a few pointers. It’s a pretty easy drive from the East Bay. On a Sunday evening, the only traffic I hit was from the tunnel and over the second half of the bridge. It’s a few blocks off the freeway exit. My BFF told me that it you drive around, you can find street parking. That is true, I found(free) street parking on Tenth Street. A couple of my friends were already there inside the pizza place. You could hear the bands playing in the main room, very clearly from the pizza place. My brother’s BOTB was being held in the room upstairs. I bought pre-sale tickets from my brother, so I didn’t deal with the venue with tickets. It was an easy ID check, tear of the tickets and headed upstairs. The room upstairs is cozy, with a small stage and a bar in the back. I ordered a vodka pineapple, much more pineapple than vodka. It’s okay, I wasn’t looking to get wasted and I knew that I was in the city. If you want more bang for your buck, go for shots. They had a sound guy working that night, so he made sure that it didn’t sound like a bunch of teenagers playing in their garage for a birthday party. His name was Steve, I only remember it because we were chanting it at the end. Overall, it was a good night. My brother’s bad did really well and advanced to the finals of BOTB. Looks like I’ll be returning in May. Overall, it seems like a cool place to come for an event, whether it be a death metal show or a b-boy competition. I especially appreciate the easy access to the freeway, both coming and going.
