Now on my favorite list — 1) Delivery was very fast and friendly 2) Everything was nicely wrapped 3) mac and cheese was home made and delicious 4) Ribs were excellent 5) BBQ chicken was incredible 6) Great price You also get two sides with what you pick — and all the sides are great(we tried them all). Old fashioned cole slaw just the way I like it. Sweet baked beans. Yum yum.

After watching a few episodes of Man vs. Food, I consider myself an expert on BBQ. I may not have eaten that much BBQ in my life, but I can throw around the lingo like young lad trying to impress the ladies at a casino with his cheap polyester suit and fake gold watch. We bought several dinner plates here. A brisket, a pulled pork and a pork spare ribs. Each plate came with two sides. And then an extra side of mac and cheese on top of everything! I sampled a bit of each. The pork spare ribs were decent but not very tender. Dare I say it was a bit dry? It was a bit dry. A little jerky-like in texture. The sauce helped the texture but it was a bit vinegary. The pulled pork was very saucy. I’m not a huge fan of pulled pork. I prefer ribs and brisket. Again, vinegary sauce. I like a smokier, round-bodied sauce. Mac-and-cheese: also ok. It was very gooey. The portions were huge and went hand in hand with drunken football watching. The area is totally sketchy. The birds around here also seem to produce ungodly amounts of poo because we parked in a space that was nearly white with droppings. And with that lovely mental image, I finish my review.

Really solid pulled pork sando with some tangy and tasty potato salad. I love that you can by flavored smoking chips in here to take into your on smoker. Spoke to the owner for a bit and seemed to have solid smoking knowledge and also offered a few helpful pointers.

I ordered takeout from Dibbs, and overall I would get the BBQ pulled pork again, but none of the sides. The BBQ pulled pork with spicy sauce was satisfying — meaty, hearty, fairly moist, not overly fatty, and had a good flavor, though it wasn’t spicy at all(at least to me). The corn was tasteless and awful, and the potato salad was nothing special. I also tasted the turkey burger, and I thought it was pretty good for the price($ 5) For the price, I would probably give Dibbs 3.5 stars, and I’ll probably order again.

We tried the beef brisket and the baby back ribs — the brisket was very good, moist & tender, the ribs however were tough and dry — they seemed overcooked. I would come again to have the brisket, but skip the ribs… they were very disappointing, almost seemed as if they were cooked days before and just warmed over with some BBQ sauce. We tried all the sides, they were ok. but nothing special.

I have a coworker who lives in a «gritty» neighborhood(his words, not mine). When he says a place is in a «sketchy area,» I know he really means: Sprout eyes on the back of your head, wear a bulletproof vest, and then make sure you have pepper spray handy. Luckily, this part of Fillmore was just deemed«okay, not SO bad» by my coworker, so I just sharpened my switchblade and headed to Dibbs for some BBQ one Thursday afternoon. The only people I encountered on my way to and from were a couple of guys smoking pot. The place itself is small, with seats for no more than about 40 people. The menu is pretty much a carnivore’s dream, with BBQ everything(and most items are under $ 10). Brisket, pulled pork, chicken, ribs. BBQ heaven, pretty much. I ordered the brisket sandwich(I asked Dibbs for a recommendation) and it came with one side(they have your typical Southern-style picks like potato salad, mac ‘n cheese, etc). I opted for the mac ‘n cheese. I shouldn’t have been disappointed with the portion size for the prize(meal total was $ 7.60), but the side was an incredibly small little cup, like the kind you use for storing take-out salsa. The brisket sandwich was good. Not mind-blowingly good, but the meat was pretty tender and it was smoky. I almost wish it didn’t have much of that BBQ sauce tang, as the meat would’ve been better with just the smoke flavor. The mac ‘n cheese was extremely buttery and the cheese was really stringy, which, while full of great flavor, it was too rich for me. Overall, 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for the nice service, good prices, and fairly convenient(and not THAT sketch) area.

I’ve definitely had better BBQ and service. I was considering using them to cater a picnic I’m coordinating but have decided to go elsewhere. The food: The ribs were really fatty. While they fell off the bone, I didn’t feel it was quality meat. The chicken was fine but nothing special. I had a variety of sides: the mac n cheese was not as tasty as I had read(I’d much rather have Kraft), the cole slaw was gross, the potato salad was mediocre and the pork beans were good but not great. The BBQ sauce did live up to the reviews I read — it was pretty good. The service: I called earlier in the day to say I was coming by to sample their food for my event. The number of people they would be catering for is pretty significant so I expected someone to meet with me. When I got there, not only was there no one to meet with but the person there had no idea who I was. IMHO if you are going to bring a restaurant a significant amount of business, they should give you a meal on the house to sample. So, I was unimpressed and will not be returning. My quest for great BBQ continues…

Great bbq in a friendly setting. The portions are pretty big — we got 2 meat combos(each came with two sides) for three people and still had plenty to take home. Favorites included the chicken(smoked, so it stayed nice and moist — and so tasty!) and the baby back ribs, which were cooked perfectly, yielding tending but hearty meat that easily came off the bone. I’m not usually a big hot links fan, but these were split down the middle and then grilled on both sides, and had a good flavor that wasn’t too hot-doggy(a perpetual peeve of mine when it comes to hot links). The brisket was truly unusual, but I actually really liked it. I’m used to brisket so tender it’s almost melting in nice big hunks. This was almost the opposite — it was cut in thin slices and was very nicely cooked, resulting in almost crispy meat with nearly rendered fat. I wouldn’t think I’d have liked this, but I did! We chose beans, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, and french fries as sides(I don’t know if the fries are really offered as sides, but they were fine to throw them in). To be honest, these weren’t as exceptional as the meat — although the beans were well-cooked and had big chunks of meat in them, which was great. The macaroni and cheese was a bit overcooked but pretty tasty and lightly seasoned. The coleslaw was too sweet and creamy — I don’t think I would have it again. The fries were better than they looked and well-salted. Overall, I’d be sure not to judge this place by appearances. I was a little wary seeing the plasticware and potentially dried-out looking food with a little sauce tossed on it(to be honest, the sauce may have been a weak point, although it certainly didn’t detract from the food), but in fact, everything was delicious and both the employees we interacted with extremely friendly and very nice. I look forward to going back.

I never understood how people said«Sandwiches» are their favorite meal. What? That makes no sense. Apparently, I was eating real bunk sandos. Dibbs changed my mind about sandwich loving. I am a bonafide sando-lovah now. I crave the stuff. Dibbs is so close, too. That’s an issue for me. I can’t be trusted to not eat there every day. I have to walk a different way home just so as not to tempt myself. I’ve changed my bus line. I love the BBQ Turkey sandwich. It’s PACKED with goodness. And I love how messy it is to eat. Sandwich carnage, Mmm, frak I want one right now. *some of these statements may reflect a minimal amount of hyperbole used to indicate emphasis of love.

Whoa, what’s the deal here? Why did this place not even come close to the star rating for me? Me = Confused. Ladyhawk and I wanted some serious BBQ so we grabbed some take out from Dibbs. I got the brisket plate with the hot bbq sauce and some sides. The sides were great and the sauce was just ok, but not really hot. The meat however was extremely tough and fatty. It was not tasty at all and I wasn’t able to finish it at all. I realize that beef should have some fat for flavor, but this was riddled with grissle, tough meat, and huge chunks of fat. I will not be frequenting this establishment.

Was bussing it today and as I popped off the #5 and headed to the other side of the Fillmore tracks, I passed Dibbs. Made a note to stop back by if time and tastebuds allowed. Well by the end of my second meeting, the BBQ jones was raging so made it back down Fillmore to Dibbs. Smart move. Being a BBQ snob it’s not often I lick all of my fingers after the first bite, but that was the case today. Dibbs has it down. The portions are sizeable, the cost is amazingly low, the smiles are plentiful, and the food is too die for. What else is there? I’ll be back…

Yay! I’m a fan. It’s a little ghetto — the neighborhood area and the place itself, but the food is good and really cheap and you get huge sides for what you’re paying! I always get the bbq half chicken which comes with two sides for $ 5.99. It’s literally half a chicken! and your sides are substantial. It’s always the same two guys working there and they’re both very nice but its not one of those places you go to if you’re expecting amazing service and shit like that. You order at the counter, they make it for you, and thats about it. I like to go there for lunch because then their sides are all still fresh and delicious! if you wait to go for dinner they’ve sat out for a while so they’re not quite up to standard, but still very yummy.

I’m not a huge BBQ connoisseur but I do know what I like — large portions, sauce not too sweet, good sides. Dibbs nails it across the board. My pork rib plate was HUGE(enough for leftovers) and the meat fall off the bone goodness. Cole slaw was fine, the baked beans fared much better and featured pieces of bacon. Pork on pork crime? Yes, please. The neighborhood is sketchiness defined — you might get shot on your way to Dibbs or at the very least a contact high from the folks smoking weed in front of the restaurant but the food makes it worthwhile. Did I mention that the prices are hella cheap? If you like your BBQ down and dirty*(and cheap) I definitely recommend that you check out Dibbs. *speaking of dirty… they need to hand out wet naps to go along with the sticky goodness!

The food alone at this place is NOT four star worthy. However, the people who work here are cool, and for BBQ this place is CHEAP and not that bad! I didn’t even know this place existed, but when I was looking up BBQ places on Unilocal it came up, and it’s pretty close to my house. Even though it is considered a «BBQ» place I noticed on there menu they have breakfast items as well, and also several different sandwiches that aren’t necessarily«BBQ»(turkey, meatloaf, etc…). I decided to go with the brisket meal, which came with two sides, and at $ 9.99 was actually one of the most expensive things on the menu(I think only the rib meals were more expensive). Pretty much any BBQ place you go to has a meal like this, but it’s usually around $ 15. Most of the sandwiches & breakfast items are only like 5 or 6 bucks! To be honest, if I would have paid $ 15 for this meal I probably would have been a little disappointed. The two sides I had were potato salad as well as mac & cheese. The potato salad was… well…potato salad. Nothing special, but it wasn’t bad. I actually thought the mac & cheese TASTED good. It was creamy & cheesy. I do wish it was a little hotter though. When I got home and started eating it was lukewarm compared to my meat, which was nice and hot. As for the brisket, it was a little fatty, but tender and not bad overall. I have to say, I personally was not a huge fan of the sauce here. I wish it had a bit more«sweetness.» They do give you a LOT of food(I had leftovers). I’m not sure if I’d get a BBQ meal from this place again(although I’d like to try the chicken), but at $ 5 or $ 6 for everything else, I’d like to try the breakfast or a sandwich.

Dibbs is SOLID. I’m from Texas, and my fellow Texan friends and I are always on the lookout for some good BBQ(at a decent price). Dibbs definitely fits the bill on both accounts. It’s perfect for takeout, as it’s not necessarily a «nice» place to dine-in at. The guys who work there are pretty chill, and we chatted with them for a bit while we waited for our food. I ordered the pork ribs with a side of mac & cheese and buttered corn. The pork ribs were really tasty and had plenty of meat on them. The mac & cheese were delicious… however, if you’re a vampire or aren’t a big garlic fan, you may not like them too much. The buttered corn could’ve maybe used a little more butter(but honestly, you can’t ever have too much butter). Delicious pork ribs, 2 sides, and some bread… all for $ 8.99? Hell yea! I’ll be going back. I just wish they delivered more than«7 blocks»(so random). 4.5 stars(rounded up to 5). D elicious BBQ(the pork ribs were really good). I f only they delivered to a wider area of town. B ring out the cheap eats award! B utter corn is ok… maybe add more butter? S o excited to head back to try some of the other menu items.

BREAKINGNEWS…“Matt G did not finish his meal!” Big or small portion(s), I always finished my meal and never did believed in leftovers. To tell you the truth and after every meal, I’m just too full and too lazy to carry the leftovers around. But my empty stomach has landed at one of the newest Barbecue businesses in the slowly revamped Western Addition. Only opened 3 months with not many reviews yet, this barbecue place serve authentic«cue» and is operated by a bunch of cool and friendly dudes. The restaurant is opened from 8am-8pm, thus serving breakfast such as egg and omelettes, to lunch with burgers and hot and cold sandwiches, and to dinner with BBQ dishes such as ribs. I had the BBQ Beef Brisket for my urgent and hungry dinner. For $ 9.99, I get eight«thick and fat» slabs of the tenderest beef drenched in the homemade BBQ Sauce. «Yes, eight(8) fat slices of meat, ladies and gentlemen!» My meal also comes with two sides, in which I took the Spicy Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese and all homemade. Yes, eight slices of meat is more than enough to satisfy any high-volume eater like myself. Finally a decent Barbecue place in the Bay Area. And I’ll definitely be back and try other foods. My only concern is that they use stryofoam containers for take-outs. Well, I’m not an environmentalist and could care less. NOWBACKTOTHENEWS… The Fort Hood Massacre, Richmond’s rape case, the failure structure of the Bay Bridge… My monster meal:

Friendly service, good BBQ steak sandwich. Nice strips of tri tip with melted cheddar and a mildly tangy BBQ sauce. Location great, captures the life of this part of Fillmore street– lots of laughter and action flowing in from the sidewalk. Simple, no frills. Good place to stop by.
