A visit to SF General’s Emergency for a kidney stone a couple of years ago resulted in my applying and acceptance into the Healthy San Francisco program. I was placed into the Curry Senior Center and after an intake evaluation by a RN assigned a «primary care physician.» My life has changed since that day. Unlike the monolithic heath care program I had been a member of for years through my job, with Curry Center and one doctor overseeing my health care, I had a trusted and competent advocate. I really can’t say enough positive things about the staff at Curry and especially about my doctor. I omit his name for a reason but he knows how I feel. It was a blessing getting into the program and having him oversee my health-care issues. The entire staff has exceeded any expectations I had about the human caring and level of care provided to its members. Outstanding work!

My friends and I volunteered to serve meals to seniors through Project Open Hand this morning. The space is clean and bright and the staff is friendly and caring. We served 120 meals that looked and smelled delicious. Among my favorite moments were when one patron asked my fellow volunteer for a glass of wine and when another threw his nectarine over his shoulder in a botched attempt to take a bite out of it. I’ll return.
