Cornerstone Church

I am shocked by the reviews of this establishment. They’re even listed as one of the five top gay friendly churches in the bay area on Unilocal. Obviously Unilocal reviewers don’t bother to do their homework because a catholic church was listed high on the list. Although they do not promote this on their website this church believes that being gay is not «compatible with scripture» or «morally correct».
Teenage suicide is at epidemic levels in this country. The reason these kids see no way out is often because of what they hear from the pulped. You can’t consider yourself gay friendly and attend an organization that discriminates against the LGBTQ people.

If you’re in search of a nonjudgemental place that will give you spiritual food for the soul, then look no further. After moving out here, I was in search of a spiritual home and stumbled upon Cornerstone. Although I liked the message I received at that first service, I figured that it would only be fair to check out some other places of worship first before committing. I went around the Bay Area checking out services, and each time, my heart kept bringing me back to this place. So I decided to go with my heart and stay here. I really love the message I receive weekly, and everyone is so nice. This place really is run like a well-​oiled machine, from the services to the small groups, to even the little café where you can grab a bite a little snack or coffee before or after a service (cash only, please).
This place offers a little bit for every type of person. There’s a Moms, Inc. group, hiking group for the outdoorsy type, monthly lunch meet-​ups after church for the 20s and the 30s community (in addition to other small groups and events for this community), groups for men, childcare, and volunteer opportunities both in the church and the community.
Not to mention, Pastor Terry and Pastor Luis deliver some amazing words. Regardless of your religious or non-​religious affiliation, everyone is sure to get a great take-​home messages that speaks to the soul.

–THERE’S PARKING!!! (although public transportation is encouraged, a parking garage in addition to street parking is also available for both Saturday and Sunday services
–did I mention they offer flexible services (one on Saturday at 7pm, and 3 on Sunday)

–lots of small and specialized group activities are always ongoing
Dislikes:
–services on holidays: be prepared to arrive up to an hour early to ensure you get a seat

We loved this church, we lived in SF for about six months and were so happy when we found it. Their children’s church was great for our daughter (3 at the time). It’s been just about a year and I still stream Pastor Terry’s sermons when I am on the road or can’t be at church on Sunday. Very inclusive and communal place we felt at home right away. Looking back it was one of my favorite parts of the city.

Get there early to get some carefully prepared toast (not kidding… very unexpected, and really good!) and a seat. The place packs out!

This is such a gem in the Mission. The facility is smaller than I expected which gives it an intimate feeling. The seats are movie theater style and super comfortable. Go a little early to get some toast and Philz coffee from their café. They have free wifi so you can hang out comfortably if you want.
The music here is incredible. They alternate between really upbeat music and melodic solos. The service is very simple, 3 – 4 songs, a message, finished with a song during the offering time.
Great message, even better worship music, and really cool location.

We found this church because of its affiliation to our home church, Willow Creek. We don’t live in the area, but if we did, this could be a church we would become part of.
The worship was upbeat and energized, the childcare was personal and organized, and the pastor was passionate and accessible in his message. We really appreciated the diversity among the congregation, the adjacent coffee/​meetup room, and the parking for first-​time visitors and families.
We were greeted by several people during our time there and everyone seemed friendly and welcoming.
We’re only in town for another week, but we’re likely coming back.

We shopped around for a «candlelight service» on line on Christmas Eve and found this church. When I noticed that it was located in the Mission District of San Francisco I was concerned that it would be a rundown place in a not-​so-​great neighborhood. What a fantastic service it was with fabulous music and a very cozy and delightful atmosphere.

its not that it was teh best or teh worst worship; I hail from So Cal and LOVE LOVE LOVE my church there and would give it five tsars
the Five stars is because it was all about GOD!!!
I felt welcomed, was talked to and even got prayer after.

I guess, I am being nit picky… as the passage was written and handed out to all the congregants… but really, no one is encouraged to bring a B-I-B-L-E…just sayin’
will go back until I move back to So Cal… it was God provided to me otherwise!

The talent of the musicians is mind blowing. Pastor Terry is entertaining to watch, insightful, and truly humble and I always look forward to his lessons.

Went to this church from out of town. It was very modern and planned out. The message was pretty good although it did not totally speak to me. It could have been my frame of mind but still a church worth checking out to see if it is the one for you.

I decided to check out Cornerstone after a friend suggested it. This is what I pictured a modern church to be. You’re not obligated to go everyday (at least I didn’t get that vibe), but at least what is being said in the lecture by the pastor is something I can relate to and take home to reflect on. They have seating both downstairs and upstairs. There’s a big flat panel tv upstairs so can see the pastor and the choir easily if you don’t want to look down below. I’m a sucker for live instrumentation music and they have a band here complete with a guy on a drum set. Now that’s awesome.

I wouldn’t be saved without Pastor Terry and this amazing church. It’s a place where people can get real with God and feel a real connection.
You will see people from all walks of life there.
If you could only visit one church in SF this should be the one.

I absolutely love Cornerstone church. It’s like no other church I’ve been to. It’s real, it’s fresh, it’s life giving. The people there are perfectly aware that they’re sinners and love God because of his grace and heart. Pastor Terry is such a great speaker who really cares for the well-​being of everyone in the church, city, and beyond. I only stopped going because it’s really far from where I live now, but I really miss it and plan on going back regularly as soon as possible. Give this church a chance :)

First time visitor today with my fiancé. We are looking for a new church and we left an absolutely amazing one back in Indianapolis so our expectations are high. We were shopping for the right church and we found it today.
1. Parking was easy, free, and the gentlemen who led us into the garage was very friendly and welcoming.
2. We were immediately greeted once inside, given a warm welcome, and some first time visitor information.
3. The worship band is amazing; very talented bunch. Coming from a large, non-​denominational church in Indy with a very good band this was important for my fiancé and I.
4. The pastor was very good as well; good message, and a nice balance of scripture and real life stories.
I am looking forward to getting more involved in the church and am very thankful we found a new church home.

I initially thought this church was cool, but then i realized after going a few times that it’s run like a military camp (they tell you where to sit, what to do not do), and the people are cold and not very friendly. I gotta feel comfortable where i go to hear a message. Plus side: parking is free.

Let’s face it, I’m a Southern Boy living in the West Coast. When I first moved here, one of my priorities was to find a church that I can connect with. The one church that felt most like home to me was Cornerstone Church. I mean it’s no Buckhead Church in Atlanta but it’s nice that its a smaller more community focused church. I always enjoy the music and the band and performers do a really good job showcasing their talent. I also enjoy that the church really reaches out to its members and highlights them in short film segments… it was pretty meaningful and very cool to actually see these people sitting right next to you. If you’re new to the city or looking for an excellent non-​denominational church, check out Cornerstone.

The messages are life-​changing, personal, actionable, and thoroughly grounded in Scripture. The worship music is heartfelt and spirit-​filled. God’s presence fills this church and I am moved to tears every time I go. I count down the days ’til I get to go to church every week.

It seems odd to Unilocal about a church. It’s almost like bad karma if you don’t give a good rating. We have attended this church a few times now to get a better feel of the community and sense of family.
Whilst this place does remind us of the church we used to go to back in Chicago it also feels a little lacking. It’s hard to put my finger on it.
The location of this church makes it easy to get to and the number of services also help. The music is good, not as much sing-​along as there could be.
The pastor is a very good speaker and I feel gets through to the majority of the congregation but he doesn’t always hit the mark with me. The seats aren’t the most comfortable but they do seem to have technology on their side which is probably the thing that reminds us of our old church.
It’s very nice inside the church albeit a little dark I found.
We are still not entirely decided yet — we will go some more times to really find out…

So much to say about this place of worship! Great spirit led food for the soul — top notch sermons and a band that would sound better than most played on the radio. When I first started attending, many years ago, I thought, as many others have thought too (from what I’ve been told), that it was difficult to meet people. Then I got smart and decided to get involved in some of the activities: bible study, volunteering, and just hanging out around the coffee shop/​bookstore. Wow, every person I met was really really nice — exceptionally nice, very approachable and sincere. Not one bad apple.
My wife and newborn also attend these days and love it. The childcare is TOP NOTCH, and if we miss a sermon there is without a doubt a dedicated night in our home to watch it online. I’ve invited many people to this church over the years, and still do because it’s a great church, and most of the time I’ve heard from the guests «I felt like God was really speaking to me.»
Please visit this church if your looking for a great place to worship, learn, get involved and grow in your walk with Jesus. Be sure to let God touch your heart as He wishes, and enjoy the show! (oh, btw, the seats are theater seats — mucho comfortable! with parking to boot!)
