My Cinco de Mayo was at Cinco de Pizza. I was a little hesitant to go because I am a new to this Elite thing and this would be my second event, but it turned out to be so much fun. Everyone was in the same playing field so it made it easier to mingle. No one knew anyone, yet everyone was willing to meet new people. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Upon arriving, the space was warm and welcoming. We were given plentiful amounts of wine and tasted a couple of different pinsas. The wine complimented the flavorful freshly baked pinsas perfectly. The owner was very welcoming and gave us a little speech on how he’s come to open up his restaurant which was a nice little touch.

Love it! Another fine YEE hosted at Montesacro Pinseria Romana Enoteca by Abby S! I work about a block away from this place and never in this world would I have known such good pizza would be made at this fine establishment. Let’s just say 6th and Mission gets extremely colorful at night and the alleyway on Stevenson is scary. Here take this(gives you a dagger) for +100EXP. Anyway, I was intrigued to find out the building has been around since the early 1900s and they even kept the original structure when it used to be a bakery. It’s quite a hidden gem tucked away in the SOMA area. The pizzas were delicious. I was able to sample several of them Infernetto, Maranella, and Quadraro. The charcuterie was amazing! I really enjoyed seeing the delicious meats sliced on their industrial slicer. They prominently display their meats in a glass display case just like a butcher shop. There were plenty of libations available as well! It’s always good to see familiar faces and make new friends at these events. Ed U, infamous for great reviews was there. I also made some new friends: Jessica C, Laura F, and Jon L. It’s cool to have the owner talk about his story and his passion for serving great pizza. I think his restaurant will certainly thrive in the neighborhood as I’m always looking for a great place to eat. Bonus points for being one block away from my office. Now you know I’ll be coming here for lunch!

Brr it was a bit cold outside, and this little spot is a hidden gem down Stevenson. When we first got there, we waited inside and we were given instructions on how to find and add friends, which turned out to be quite useful throughout the remainder of the night. Name tags were pre-written for us which was super nice, and we got an awesome check-in gift! A Unilocal corkscrew: D While the food was being prepared, we were served wine(tempranillo, a white, or sparking rose). Since it was cold out, I stuck with the tempranillo most of the night. It was very very good. The food was ready: and the pinsa made it’s way around. These were amazing. We got to try a few different kinds of pinsas and all of them were so delicious, especially fresh out of the oven. The décor and semi dim lighting made this place very intimate and it was awesome meeting new Unilocal friends, and of course seeing some old ones. The owner was very kind and approachable. He gave a little talk, and walked around to meet and greet and serve the pinsas. Awesome event. I’m glad I found out about this place! Oh, my favourite pinsa of the night: INFERNETTO — smoked buffalo mozzarella, ‘nduja

I really enjoyed spending my evening at Montesacro Pinseria Romana Enoteca! It was a pretty intimate event and Abby encouraged us to meet at least two new Unilocalers! I appreciated the sentiment and I really love events where I can mix and mingle and meet fellow Unilocalers! This was a standing-only type of event, where we saddled up to the bar for wine, your choice of red, white or sparkling. Samples of pinsa, a pizza ancestor from Rome, were passed around. I was able to try bites from 3 different types of pinsas and they were very good. I liked the atmosphere of this restaurant. It really takes you away and transports you from the grittiness of 6th Street. You’ll forget what’s right outside. :) I really liked the old tiled rustic ovens in the back. I wish they used them, but I appreciated learning why they don’t. The décor is very nice and this would really make for a nice romantic evening out. Thanks so much Abby, Unilocal, and Montesacro for the wonderful evening!

Wine and pizza as a social and intimate mixer event? I’m definitely in! Their wine complimented very much with their different toppings of pizza that they served up. I really liked how thin and crisp the pizza crust was. I like the debrief on the history of how Pinsa and their restaurant came to be. It made the whole dining affair even more enriching and pleasant to be at. Or was it the wine that helped that? Thank you Unilocal community that made this happen! It was a warm affair!

There’s no better way to celebrate Cinco de Drinko than to hang out with some cool Unilocalers. Thanks Abby for the invite! Like any good date, Montesacro Pinseria Romana wined and dined us until we were all smiling from ear to ear. The event space is nice and homey, so it was pretty easy catching up with old Unilocal friends(Hi, Kaje Y., Jon L., and Laura F.!) and meeting new Unilocal friends(What’s up, David W., Rubin S., and Juliana P.!). The pizza was so delicious! I can still taste the cheese… mmm! And the three wines that were flowing all night were enjoyable. They have a wall lined with interesting beers that I’ll have to come back and try! Learned one word from the friendly bartender: delizioso! :)
