Felafel: decent Price: Little high Service: Friendly Hours: short This place is ok in a pinch, but I can get just as good is not better felafel from City Gourmet without spending as many American Dollars. And with my irregular lunch schedule, half the time I go for a late lunch this place has already closed. I think they close at 14:00 or something. I don’t even walk by anymore, but I feel bad because they’re nice people.

Uggh. Overpriced, uncomfortable in every way, no a good choice for solo meal, or for a group. It is small, hard to . The chairs and tables are a bad combination with the floor. Metal poles on a floor composed of small brick tiles. They don’t move easy and make a horrible noise when they do. The tables all not cleaned between patrons, and every table we had to choose from had crumbs and sandwich sauce(mayo, dressing, something) that needed to be wiped. At no fault of the owners, the neighborhood has almost no parking, and the street parking isn’t parallel, but perpendicular to the curb. The noise from the street and train station is noticeable and loud. The whole restaurant is very loud. The open room has no noise dampening of any sort, and every patron can be heard, and the overall noise seems to encourage a room full of people yelling so that they can be heard at their own table. The employees were loud and raucous, also adding to the noise. The food is overpriced for what you get. And wasn’t very tasty. Most sandwiches are basic, and cost between $ 7.50 and $ 10.00. A few unique meals, but none seemed particularly pleasing. The drinks are standard sodas and canned/bottled beverages that you help yourself to. The manager/owners have no problem having an employee stand in the doorway smoking a cigarette, and this put her no more than 2 feet away from the closest patron, and no more than 20 feet from the furthest a patron could sit. That same employee also had her puppy run in the restaurant and under some tables, which while more illegal, I didn’t mind as much as the smoking. Overall, an unpleasant experience, and I can see why it recently closed and reopened a few weeks later. It takes some work to have a failed restaurant in a place across the street from caltrans station, and surrounded by numerous office, housing, and construction sites.

This place is much improved under the new and nicer owners. The mediterranean numbers are by far the best edibles on offer– the salads, burgers and sandwiches are pretty run of the mill. However, as with the old owners, t’s still just way, way overpriced for what you get. It feels and tastes like everything in there should cost 50−75% of what it does. I have been eating the #16 on a rosemary roll, hold the onions, off and on for about 6 years now, so I know what I’m talking about here.

I’d give it a 5 if she sold beer and took credit cards, but alas she doesn’t. I might even give her a 5 if she just took CCs. Great food and the owner is very nice. Highly convenient given we’re upstairs from her.

Meat lovers, here you go! They have quite a menu here, about 25 meaty sandwiches, a Mediterranean menu and some soup & salad. I’ve had the spicey chicken sammie, which was delicous. I have a really hard time paying $ 8 for sandwiches, but they meat is fresh and tasty. I am confused, however, by their cobb salad. It’s an odd mix, unlike the norm: Lettuce Tomato Bacon Chicken Hard-cooked eggs Avocado Roquefort cheese Now in SF the cheese can be subsituted for anything from bleu to feta and that I can handle. But Choppers uses turkey, mushrooms, and onion. It’s just weird. Still, an ok choice(after I pick out the onions & mushrooms) for only $ 8.50. Veggies, there are options for you too!

so over priced. $ 8 for a turkey sandwich. ridiculous. and the beef kebabs taste like microwaves styrofoam. not recommended at all.

the chicken plate with baba ganoush & pita is TAS-TEE! I’m not generally a fan of such things, but I like it. Kinda pricey for lunch, but you only live once…

The #27(tuna sandwich) is a good fix if you’re really craving it and you think that Subway tuna is sketchy(I certainly do). I think that their prices are a little steep though.

I like Chopper’s. It’s never over-crowded like other places during the rush lunch hour around this ‘hood. I have yet to try the catfish sandwich that looks pretty tasty.

It’s Chopper’s fault that I became a Unilocaler. Last year, Nicole put my lunch in a Unilocal branded glossy bag, and while I munched away on the marinated chicken breast, cheese and bacon sandwich, I surfed on over and became hooked. I never know if I should thank or blame them. Chopper’s is my default spot for lunch and dinner, considering they are in the same building as my office. At least twice a week I’m having a breakfast sandwich(fried egg, cheese, bacon and tomato on a bagel), often calling it in as I walk to work so it will be ready as I arrive… and the other days I am there at least once a day for a coffee refill. The staff is nice, and Luna and Nicole(the owners) put their heart into the place. Everything is made fresh — nothing comes in pre-made or frozen… and though the espresso drinks aren’t great, a large cup of Joe is probably the best within a two block radius and reasonably priced at $ 1.50. Arabic music, great breakfasts, a little yappy dog named Sparkle and my introduction to Unilocal… what isn’t there to like?

Pretty cool lunch spot on townsend. The falafel wrap was definitely satisfying and the food comes pretty quick as well. There is a lot to choose from and it is nearby where I work so I’m sure to check out this place again…
