This Chipotle is one of the best i have been to. I go to this Chipotle at least once a week for the past year or so and they have been nothing but friendly and helpful. The guy that initially cooks the tortilla is there every time i go in always talks to me and asks me how I’m doing and how business is. Sure there is always the occasional long line but they are super quick and friendly. Today i went in and i don’t know if they do this randomly, but written on the foil was comp, wondering what that meant i got to the register they told me my burrito was on them. Not only are they the friendliest Chipotle but a free burrito was a very nice surprise and i will continue to go to this location! Love You Guys!

Who doesn’t love Chipotle! The one on sutter is very modern chic! Double level building with seating up and downstairs. Large bay windows to see outside and of course great food!

This is just another typical Chipotle but except this one is not what I want in a chipotle. This chipotle is usually crowded during office hours but the service is sometimes gets very moody. By that I mean, I don’t get a consistent amount on my bowl. I always take the burrito bowl and have always put the same ingredients but never got consistency. This totally depends on the mood of the person making it, if they are in a grumpy mood then expect your bowl to be half the normal size and if in a good mood then maybe a full bowl. To this I would say, it’s always grumpy so I am left hungry after the bowl. Increasing prices and diminishing brand image is not helping but it is only going to lose customers.

The absolute worst customer service. Especially the further up management I went trying to resolve the matter. I feel so sorry for anyone who has to work under them. Chipotle could not care less about customers, clearly reflected by management. Cheers.

Since my last review I did find myself enjoying their salad with black beans, sofrito, guacamole, salsa, and vinagrette. It’s a fat bomb, but the ingredients are good. I hope they square away their issues with the food safety standards. This seems like a case of a place being singled out, but what do I know. It was surprising to see it nearly empty at 12 noon on Thursday. usually there are 90 people in line staring at their cell phones. My biggest concern with a place like this when they deal with huge profit hits after compliance problems is their longstanding employees. Many seem to have been there for years.

The food is good but the service is pretty terrible. The server is very rushy with your order. They’re ALREADY asking if you want corn as they put the first grains of rice in your bowl. These people need to relax. I understand that you want to move the lines faster, but asking me if I want a bag to go as you’re adding pinto beans doesn’t help either of us.

Typical Chipotle, however i never noticed how skimpy they are compared to other Chipotle’s :\ Even when i order a veggie bowl it always comes out waaayyy overpriced which i don’t understand why(this is even w/o a drink!). Service is nothing special. All tastes the same but some days when i eat here i get the MOSTHORRIBLE stomach pain :\ which has recently made me stop coming as much.

I don’t know what happens on weekends, but I’ve been here on three different days(two Sat, one Sun) and it’s invariably S L O W P O K E C I T Y. Not just trainees on the line, which is inevitable, but employees huddling over some point of confusion or other. Three people in line, ten minutes to reach the register. I just wanted a burrito, not a formal Japanese Tea Ceremony. Maybe their all-star crew works weekday lunch. One star service, bumped up a star because if you can stand there and wait the carnitas is good.

Such a good Chipotle. The lines are ridiculous. This must be the most packed chipotle in the nation as it is in the heart of downtown San Francisco. That’s the only bad thing I can say about this. The lines are quick and employees put together a hard nosed, hard working assembly line; not to mention they put together a mean burrito. Each employee knows how to provide a solid, well rounded scoop for your burrito or bowl, which is nice. Lastly, if you want a nice upper deck eating experience walk right up the stairs. They provide access to the soda machine on the top deck.

Warning: VERY skimpy on portions. My veggie bowl was all salsa — definitely under their correct standard portion size of rice, beans, fajitas, and guacamole. Other than that, the food itself was fine. Taste was consistent with the other Chipotles. Service was nothing of note. Would likely not be back if I didn’t work nearby, and options weren’t limited in this neighborhood. Edit: I’ve really come to hate this location. It’s 9:15, and they have the bathroom area blocked off with a very wet floor and a sign indicating the area is being cleaned. I worked at Chipotle way back in the day, and we NEVER cleaned the floors for the night while a customer was still in the store, let alone 45 minutes before closing. I was forced to eat my meal with unwashed hands coming off of work. Terrible. Chips not made well. And as skimpy as ever.

I have never been to a Chipotle that gives so little. I went to this Chipotle because it was most convent. I clearly shouldn’t of. Normally I’m a very big fan of Chipotle but not right at the moment. I’m giving out 2 stars because the food was fine, but the service was quite slow and the quantity was close to none. «OHMYLORD I WISH I COULDGIVEZEROSTARS THEYGAVESOLITTLEOFEVERYTHING I MOSTLYSAWAIR I EVENSAIDEXTRA MAYBE I GOTEXTRAAIR I GUESSEXTRAMEANSLESS ITWASLESSTHANLESS» my friends words to describe our time at this particular Chipotle.

I was recently disappointed and frustrated with my experience at this Chipotle location. I went in on like a Tuesday night around 9pm and waited at least 10 minutes in line. I wanted something smaller, more of a snack, so I ordered the cheese enchilada and I added steak. The only cheese enchilada on their visible menu is the Kids Menu’s cheese enchilada, and that’s what I wanted/expected. Apparently there is an enchilada option for adults as well and that’s what I ended up receiving. WARNING, THERE’S A HIDDENMENU! At the register, I was charged for $ 8.32 as opposed to what I was expecting to be charged ~$ 5. It’s not a huge price differential, but it’s the principle and it’s a confusing experience. Why should I expect and be charged for a normal-size enchilada when I don’t see it as an option on the menu? I didn’t think I’d need to specify the Kid’s enchilada. Moreover, if I was going to pay $ 8+, I would have just gotten a damn burrito — better bang for my buck! Chipotle on Sutter, if you can take steps to prevent this confusion in the future that would be great and much appreciated! I emailed Chipotle Customer Service and I was further disappointed that they wouldn’t correct this experience for me with a refund/reimbursement/gift card, something! I got a sorry-not-sorry kindof response and I was just over it. Boo, I’m going to another location. Ain’t nobody got time for inadequacy! 2 stars instead of 1 because I still love Chipotle food! Duh.

Cheap, consistent, fast, and loud. I have been working in the financial district and told myself that I’m not going to eat Chipotle for my lunch break but the new intern from Sweden wanted to try Chipotle so since I’m nice I said sure. 12pm — Long line. The line can be overwhelming but it moves fast. Hence, they just ask what you want, pay, and go. It can be really hard that you can’t barely hear what the servers are asking you. I normally go to the Mission District if I crave for good tacos and burritos. I tend to stay away from Chipotle.

I realize that it defies common sense to dine at Chipotle with all of the wonderful options for Mexican food in the city. However, there aren’t that many Mexican restaurants in the financial district, and certainly none as close to my office as Chipotle. In addition, I think Chipotle’s salad option provides a pretty healthy carb-free choice, and I have been trying to have one meal a day that does not contain carbs. A month or so ago, I decided to order a salad online from Chipotle for pickup — ordering food ahead for pick-up and bypassing long lines is my favorite. I usually use the App«OrderAhead» to do that(LOVE) or Unilocal’s App(sometimes). Since Chipotle is not offered on any Apps so far as I can tell, I ordered direct from the restaurant’s website. Seems simple enough. Note that you have to order far in advance of the time you actually want to pick up your meal on Chipotle’s website(and lunch is particularly busy, so order early). At 3:00 p.m., I ordered a chicken salad with hot salsa, light black beans, cheese, no dressing, and guacamole on the side for pick-up at 5:20 p.m. When I arrived at Chipotle at 5:25 p.m.(that’s later than the time I scheduled for pick-up, by the way), I walked to the front to pick-up the order. No one was in the pick-up window(there’s a separate window to pick up online orders actually) and it took me a long time to be acknowledged by the cashier. This less-than-friendly young lady actually carded me for the salad, much to my surprise. Does Chipotle get a lot of salad thieves? Do I look the type that would steal a salad? Am I on bath salts? I was visibly irritated but I showed my ID and she went to retrieve the salad, which hadn’t even been made yet. The fact that it wasn’t ready at the promised time really frosted my cupcakes — it defeats the whole purpose of ordering online. Don’t offer such an option if you can’t get it together to have the order ready by the time promised. If I wanted to wait in line, I would not order online(that rhymed). The cashier asked a young gentleman on the food line to make my order, which did not go well. He accidentally put the guacamole on top of the salad instead of on-the-side, and when he realized he made a mistake, he took a plastic cup and proceeded to scoop the guacamole off of the top. Oh, the horror. First, you do not want guacamole on the top of the salad if you are watching your calorie intake. Chipotle puts WAY too much and even though guacamole is good for you, it is still loaded with fattening, albeit delicious, calories. Second, it was sort of gross to watch him scoop the guacamole with a plastic cup. It seemed less than sanitary. I think he should have simply made a new salad. Given that he seemed a little green, and perhaps felt pressured during the dinner rush, I decided not to complain, although maybe I should have in retrospect. After that incident, I simply decided I would not be back. And I wasn’t. Until this past Friday night, however, when I had just finished a long workout around 9:30 p.m. and was so hungry I could have eaten my own hand. I didn’t want to get anything too unhealthy, so I decided to get take-out from Chipotle against my better judgment. The fact is, it’s one of the only options in the area that late at night(which seems ridiculous by the way — the area is loaded with hungry tourists and even hungrier young professionals, such as myself). I waited patiently in a short line behind two tourists who had apparently never been to a Chipotle before — they didn’t «understand» what a salad was. They were nice enough, but it took an inordinate amount of time for them to order two salads — it’s a salad choice guys, not a marriage proposal. Finally I ordered a chicken salad, but was then informed that Chipotle had«run out» of guacamole. … … … How is that even possible?! It’s like McDonald’s running out of chicken mcnuggets — it’s simply not possible. You can’t run out of the one thing Chipotle manages to do correctly pretty consistently. If I had known that walking in, I probably would have left. The nice cashier assisting me asked if I wanted an extra serving of one of the other ingredients to make up for the missing guacamole, so I requested extra cheese, because duh, but I think I was charged for it. Ugh. In the future, if you have a Mexican food jones, I would take a little bit of extra time to walk across Market to Tropisueno(you can Order Ahead on the App and bypass the long lines) or even Unos Dos Tacos. This Chipotle is not the best. You can’t run out of guacamole when you serve(even quasi-) Mexican food. It’s just wrong.

Although San Francisco is full of great Mexican restaurants around, chipotle stays a place that you always wanna come back to. Maybe it’s the nostalgia to the college days or something. This location is great because it’s close to Union Square and many find destinations downtown.

TIP — If you’re just getting chips and guac, you don’t have to wait in line. Just go up to the cash register and order. The chips and guac were just the usual, but the one thing I really didn’t like was that at this Chipotle, if you wanted to use the bathroom, you had to buy something first. The restrooms upstairs require a number code to unlock the doors, and the only way you can get the code is if you buy something because the code is at the bottom of your receipt.
