Disappointing. Bland boba and jasmine green milk tea. I love boba, and didn’t bother finishing my drink. My search for boba in the Bay Area to rival average boba spots in Southern California continues…

Disclaimer — did NOT complete my order. Walked over and the young lady at the register seemed preoccupied by her phone. I wanted a peach green tea with boba and to my dismay — NOBOBA. :( What kind of a «bubble tea» place does not have any boba?! If I’m in the area again, I’ll see if they have any boba and update my review.

This place is just like Chatime in San Mateo except way over priced. They’re regular size here is smaller than the regular at San Mateo. I bought 2 drinks for $ 7.50. There are cheaper places in Chinatown. But as for the drinks, they were pretty good. I believe each cup is made fresh. The service is decent and the place is really clean and cute. I’d probably come back but for now, I’ll stick to ten ren or some other places in Chinatown.

This tasted like teh Cha Time in Vancouver which it is the same Franchise. Don’t know why its called Chatown and as well Cha time. Basically the same thing. Prices here are definitely cheaper than Vancouver BC prices. Ordered my usual Roasted Cha milk tea with Grass Jelly. Loved it. I had to have it on the go. For couple reason. One is we have parked and didn’t pay for our meter. Secondly there are no seats. Well its located in Chinatown in San Francisco and parking is a pain. There are hardly any parking even if you are willing to pay. It just drives me nuts. This place is so small that it only has two tables. Yes only two tables and no bathroom. If you have to go to the bathroom than you would have to go next door to the hospital or to the library which is down the street. Take your pick. So the drinks are made on the spot. A large is $ 2.99. Not bad for that price. Defintely coming back if I am in the hood or if there is parking

My first time here and i was excited that it was finally opened! I got the roasted milk tea, green milk tea, and a regular milk tea all regular sweetness. Each cost almost 4 dollars for the regular size which is around the same price for any milk tea places, but the size of the cup is pretty small compared to the price that was paid for. First time trying the roasted milk tea, regular sweetness and it was a bit too sweet for my liking, but they can always adjust the level of sweetness. The tea flavor was okay, not my favorite. Maybe i will give it another try next time and get 50% less sweet for this drink. Next up the Jasmine green milk tea, regular sweet, was also on the sweeter side but tolerable. I would make this drink 20 to 25% less sweet. The fragrance of the jasmine tea was strong and that’s a plus! Last but not least the regular milk tea also with regular sweetness. Best drink out of the three I got. Sweetness was on point, and it was GREAT! Can’t go wrong with the regular milk tea, great tea flavors. Can’t forget to talk about the BOBA! I always look for BOBA that isn’t too soft or hard. Chewyness is what I always look for. Chatown’s boba was okay it was more hard than chewy. Overall the drinks were good, just my personal preference that it was on the sweeter side, but the flavor of the tea was good. Will definitely try out this place again some other time.

Not sure if there was a language barrier or if there was some additional training needed, but my first time here was less than satisfactory. I asked the cashier if they could make an almond milk tea and she said yes. When my order came out, it was an oolong milk tea. When asked, she said that they don’t have almond as a flavor. I guess almond and oolong sound somewhat similar. I saw that they had a promotion for a free upgrade to a large size. I asked the cashier if this was still going on and she said yes. When my drinks came out, they were both regular size. Also, my other drink(banana milk tea) came with so little ice, it was just slightly colder than room temperature. Taste wise, both drinks were above average. The banana milk tea was… odd. Whoever thought that bananas and milk tea would go well together needs to rethink their career choice. Pricing is very fair with both drinks costing $ 3.50 each. It is disappointing that the service was not all there but I hope it will improve as time goes on.

*Cash Only!* There can never be too many boba places, never. Cha Town is a teeny hole-in-the-wall but it’s in a prime location right on Powell and Jackson. They just opened a few days ago and I’m impressed by how they’ve been able to hit the ground running. There are several types of drinks from your traditional milk teas to mousse, which the gal said was akin to crema tea. They can adjust for levels of sweetness and ice and all drinks come in regular or large sizes; almost the entire menu ranges from $ 3.25−4(toppings are extra). The roomie and I opted for the banana milk tea with pudding and the ‘superior’ milk chocolate tea(their description, not mine) with grass jelly. Both came out really well with just the right ratio of tea, milk and flavor. In the kitchen are just tea eggs and curry fish balls for now. They’re working on getting popcorn chicken into the mix so it might be like a pared down version of Quickly with the boba tea quality dialed up.

Drink … 3 Service … 2 of 5 Just open … greenhorn For now … Avoid complex or unique drinks I see someone else redoing botched concoction Production protocol … flawed … green Too many drinks offerings considering
green Had HK style milk tea … my benchmark Nice taste Considering made from on site brewed tea My RULE on new place when I give poor rating A fair revaluation in a few weeks. When we review places on Unilocal consider this… All the places Newbie … veteran … institutional Offerings on menu How complex the offering or dishes During … slow or rush hours … Fri nite? Staffing on that moment Etc So … this is a DRAFT … HAVEPOTENTIAL
