Laura from Chaos Ballet came over to help me sort out my room, as part of her extremely helpful Organizing business! It was a tremendous help, and I was thoroughly impressed by Laura’s approach, and determination to get through the rather daunting task of cleaning out and arranging my closet into something that does not make me wail every time I go into it! It took 4 hours just to go through the closet, the rest of the room will happen another time. It is intense, exhausting work when done right. But somehow, Laura made it fun as well! By the session’s conclusion I had a huge box of trash, a huge box for Goodwill, and a few bags to drag to Buffalo Exchange and/or share with friends. Of course I also don’t want to force my pink elephants on anyone.(OK, I *know* the proper term is «white» elephant, but trust me — my closet, these elephants are pink! Or glittery. Or velvet.) It was wonderful to rediscover items I had lost or forgotten I have, and finally put in perspective and let go of things I’d held on to just because I couldn’t make a decision about them. We made things easier to get to, and even cleared out the disreputable corner of my room by the door where things would just get tossed when I arrived home — jackets, scarves, belts, etc. Laura helped me arranged them in a way that there were hooks for jackets, hangers for scarves and belts, and places to store but reach the rarely worn and often forgotten hats. There will need to be fine-tuning, but overall I am thrilled and impressed! I think in this era where people are trying to utilize the space they have in the best way possible, and are«going shopping in their closets» this is a fabulous and worthwhile service. And having it done by someone who understands individual tastes and needs is a definite plus! Subculture folks need this service as much as anyone else, and it makes such a difference to have someone in who *understands!*
