Very romantic, perfect date place. We were on the upper section, very intimate if a bit snug. Food was Mediterranean French style, and was awesome. Highly recommended!

Only thing i liked was the wine. The service is ok, but he forgot our bread. The hanger steak was not tender. Pretty rubbery($ 28).

An hour for our main course to be tabled, an obtuse service standard and cold dishes. The six of us could go on and on. This was not an isolated incident and I would not write a review based off one r two visits to a business. The front of house staff is generally quite good. Who knows what pandemonium is going on back of house. The tragedy of Bouche is that service and dishes are so wildly polar opposites each and every time a party of us dined here. We don’t understand that this can be a winner of an eatery with so much going for it. Inconsistency is their Achilles Heal. We hope things improve and may try again later in the year. Please get it together — you have so much to work with and be great.

The place has some great ambiance. Something about it just screams«hole in the wall,» although that may partially be because it feels kinda perpetually cramped, even if it’s not actually that full. Ah, San Francisco real estate. But they make do with what they have, and they luckily turned what could have easily been a suffocating environment into a pretty intimate one. Being a fine dining experience, or something close enough to it, I enjoyed the food that I had, but even with the typical(I don’t actually know if this is true) French richness to the meat, I still felt a bit of a hankering afterwards. I can’t really blame this place for having caused my growing up with an American appetite and its accompanying portions, but it’s something to note. But the meat that I had(lamb shoulder, I believe) was really savory and tender and just right in flavor.

Absolutely LOVED this little gem. A colleague and I were looking for a late dinner after a couple holiday parties. I called to be sure they were still open… a(French) restaurant open late night, 11pm during the week?! & they were, perfect! The space is so intimate & warmly lit. We passed the tiniest kitchen on our way through the restaurant & up the stairs. Our(French) waiter was fantastic. Attentive, confident service. He recommended a beautiful bottle of wine & did a fantastic job making recommendations. We. Loved. Everything. Our appetizers were amazing, salad was perfect, and entrees were beyond. Complex flavors. I’m into it. Also the setting is fantastic, I truly felt like I was back in Europe. Living in Los Angeles, I’m not in San Francisco all that often, but I’ve already shared a similar review with family & friends. The chef was actually kind enough to speak with us as we left. We thanked her for our outstanding meal & hope to go back next year. Enjoy!

This Nob Hill neighborhood spot is an absolute gem! The small, intimate setting is the perfect; warm and inviting. The staff is absolutely rocks! Melissa, the head chef, is a rock-star in the kitchen! She consistently makes beautiful, French food with a modern, California-inspired twist. With an ever-changing menu, there is always something new and exciting to try! One of San Francisco’s best kept secret, this is a place not to miss!

First when I came in, I though it’s a great place to have a dinner with my girlfriend. The waiter is so nice to greet us. After we took the orders. Then the waitress never have any conversations with us, also no greeting. She just focused on one of the«big table», which was order a lot more ?. Every small table were not have any services. She put on every single dishes on our table, she just put it on. Even not telling us what the dish was. What the heck, what a waitress with attitude. No smile no greet. Honestly, she ruin my dinner with my girlfriend. I won’t come here anymore. Not for the food, just because for that horrible waitress. Very very bad service!!!

New Favorite to add in SF! Though I admit my expertise is Italian I really enjoyed this place. The fries are amazing, and are a must try! Never had anything quite like them, very unique. The bacon bread is as good as can be expected. The pork belly was yummmmm. The entrees of the steak and pork were great. The different sides of b sprouts and other grilled veggies went perfect. The place was a little tight, but comfortable décor. The service was good. Not over the top friendly at all times, but not even close to being as bad as some reviews had mentioned. Remember they speak French as their first language. Which I prefer for a French restaurant :) Ciao!

Came here with a friend for a pre-show dinner. It’s a very small and cozy upstairs restaurant with some bar seats downstairs. They have a nice wine list. We started with the pork belly as an appetizer; it was done just right, tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. I went on to have the pork tenderloin and my friend had the swordfish. Her swordfish was exceptionally good. My tenderloin was good if not great… was cooked well but not particularly flavorful. For dessert we had crème fraîche with salted caramel, a very nice and not too sweet dessert option. Service was pleasant, not over the top but polite and prompt without being pushy. Overall a nice place to visit, worth a look if you have theater plans in that area for later.

yummmmmmmy. cute, small restaurant with more tables upstairs and more standing room /casual bar downstairs. small menu(which i prefer. no paradox of choice). chill/romantic atmosphere. the menu changes so i dont know how useful it is to go into detail about my food but… — bacon bread: pretty good. it’s really just bread that tastes like bacon with pieces of bacon. — this pork belly appetizer: yummm. — flat iron steak entrée: yummm. it’s hard for me to say anything else because i’m no food connoisseur… i just like to eat what i like… — two glasses of red wine. i just asked the waiter for his recommendations. and they were yum. basically food is yum, service is great(oo0o0o0 waiters with french accents), and place is chill. serving sizes arent big so the food is relatively pricey. fyi, the marinated salmon, poached egg, and crème fraîche that a lot of people are talking about on Unilocal isn’t on the menu because the menu changes!

Overpriced. For a city with amazing food, pass this one up. Just for kicks we tried dessert. Seriously; awful, not even remotely good. Their version of rice pudding is a scoop of under cooked rice in a bowl a grape syrup. Keep looking, this place looks charming, but the overpriced shit on a plate leaves me feeling like I got robbed.

OMG. What a gem right off of Stockton and Bush. This little french gem serves dinner until 1 am… so that’s a bonus if you are out enjoying the city till the wee hours. Medi was our server and he was a super cool guy! Gave us great suggestions and was helpful in ordering. DONOTMISSTHISPLACEIFYOUAREINTHECITY. Exceptional food.

A quaint establishment near Chinatown. Came here on a Sunday night and it looked pretty packed, so recommend reservations, however, we were seated fairly quickly. We had great service and they were good on timing. We were greeted at the door and the two gentleman manning the place were very friendly. We ordered the pickled plate and pork belly as an appetizer as well, as the bacon bread. The pickled plate was a little spicy but we were forewarned. We shared the waygu beef and it was paired nicely with the pickled veggies. The beef was cooked perfectly and would order it again. A couple next to us told us to order the poached chicken bc the side tomato salad was why they came back here. Since we already ordered we decided to see how we felt after our meal to see if we would order an additional dish. I ordered a glass of their domaine de la mordoree lirac which was a smooth red to accompany the meal. If anything order the custard w dulce de leche. I would come here just for their dulce de leche. It was so delicious! All in all, it’s a nice date night with great food and service and even better company!!! Would recommend.

Nice little spot we found while trying to find somewhere to eat when we couldn’t decide what to eat. We ordered the pork belly, pickle platter, and bacon bread for appetizers. The pickle platter was pickled peppers, onions, and cucumbers. Some of them were very spicy so be warned. It also came with toast and a chorizo spread that was pretty tasty. I really enjoyed the bacon bread and would recommend ordering. For an entrée I ordered the waygu beef which was delicious. Very tender! It came with beans and pickled onions with a balsamic sauce. It tastes really good with everything together. As for drinks I ordered the Lirac which I very much enjoyed. For dessert we ordered the custard that came with a dulce de leche sauce that was amazing. This dessert elevated my review from 4 to 5 stars. The custard had a little salt on it that was so delicious when combined with the sauce. Service was excellent! At the end of our meal the waiter brought out a glass of wine for my girlfriend and I which was very nice. It was a very sweet and an excellent dessert wine. Overall this is a good restaurant I recommend trying. It is very small intimate place for a romantic night out. I only wish I could have sat upstairs.

My friend took me to this place for my birthday. When we first walked into the restaurant, I was like… Hmmm is this really a nice restaurant that serves amazing food? As all we know, we should never judge the book by its cover! The free was great and I had the best dessert at Bouche that I never had before!!! We ordered 3 appetizer, but I don’t quite remember the name of the dishes. — First dish, it’s potato and a half cooked egg, doesn’t look fancy but the way they used the spiced and the flavor was just unbelievable! — Second appetizer, its green peas and some sort of broth. Again, it look super simple but the broth was amAzing!!! — last appetizer, we have this dumpling type of food. Great flavor and was delicious. Our main course was the steak. When they first brought the entrée on, I was like, wtf? Literally just three pieces of small cut meat and garnished with some vegetables. But as I took the first bite of the steak with the sauce, it was amazing. The steak literally melt in your mouth and the flavor kept coming back to your tip of tungue. Lastly, we had this dessert, it’s a pear dish. Not sure how they made it. But I almost don’t want to share the dessert with my friends and just want to devour it by myself. Overall, great experience and the foods are remarkable!

This place is hella French. Like you feel bad not knowing French. Like you’re in Paris and feel like a tourist going in there. In short, hospitality is not something we felt whilst visiting. We felt like foreigners in our home city. We waited a bit for our table, and the woman who«greeted» U.S. made us feel like we were imposing for showing up on time. Sorry lady. Didn’t mean to interrupt your stretch of looking generally dour. The meal was underwhelming. My wife had some chickpea fries and an heirloom tomato salad, both were forgettable. I the steak and it was undercooked, ruined the dish. For the cost, we felt quite cheated. I’d pass. Go to Chez Maman or Chapeau for a friendlier and better quality meal. This place failed on every dimension: food, service, and cost.

First off, the hostess was abrupt. The waiter mumbled and looked annoyed when I asked if the cheese and butter were pasteurized, despite the fact that I told him I’m pregnant. He had a snooty attitude. Really? That doesn’t usually go well with my dinner. Bread was good, as was the butter. Chickpea fries were served with a white sauce. I asked if it is pasteurized. He said yes, the mayo is pasteurized. Paused. Then added, but it has raw eggs. Are you effen kidding me? WTF. The tomato, cheese curd, basil, quinoa salad was wonderful… But would I go back for a salad? Nah, you know I wouldn’t.

Debbie Downer. It was okay, I liked the experience, but I won’t likely go back. Honest opinion and against the 4.5 star grain. Let me explain. 1. Lower than my expectations, it’s a casual bar below(and tiny and open kitchen), and up the stairs in a loft, small 8 table seating. The feel is if you are in upstairs at someone’s house. True, it was cozy and charming, but not deluxe or upscale in anyway. 2. The hostess/bartender and the waiter both had heavy French accents, so that was nice. But dressed very casually in jeans, was again, below my expectations. 3. It’s casual modern French cuisine. The menu is very small, and does not any feature any traditional dishes, perhaps seasonal or daily, but this menu on this day did not have chicken or beef — my preferences. 4 apps, 4 entrees. 4. My order: seasonal greens(shishito peppers, really, French?) were cooked well, but unexciting and far from great(3.0 stars, $ 8). Chickpea Fries(panisses) sounds so good, but they were thick and tasted like polenta. I’ll take my fried calories elsewhere(2.0 stars, $ 8). The small Spring Salad with pecans and running egg yolk as dressing was interesting but nice(4.0 stars, $ 10). The Pork Shoulder was very tender, but I could have used much more of the little bit of side vegies($ 28, 4.0 stars). The salmon was the highlight of the night, caramelized on one side, cooked to perfection($ 28, 5.0 stars). The dessert with a big description, was very pretty, tasted as if it was concocted from cool whip($ 11, 2.0 stars). All in all, nice experience but not going back.

Stopped by on Labor Day weekend and we were trying to call around to get last minute reservations since we failed to plan :/Lucked out and they had some space at their itty bitty bar space(the whole place was tiny so no surprise that their bar is too) up front… beggars can’t be choosers. We took it. We felt obligated to order the bacon Fougasse but it was pretty disappointing but the rest was ok(tho somewhat salty) —- just wash it down w some wine. Atmosphere and service were good. Nothing memorable to necessarily have me running back but i wouldn’t decline if invited either ;P
