baskin robbins are slowly diminishing. geary, clement shops all shut down. A great deal is the double header(double scoop) side by side for under 3 dollars. they originally marketed it for 1 scoop soft and the other ice cream. go for the double ice cream for 20 cents more.

Stranger than fiction? I called no more than a week ago asking if they could do a small cake for pick-up for tomorrow. The guy who answered the phone says he’s closed Sunday for cleaning but if I could pick up today. I called today and the phone is out of service! Go check on Unilocal and it’s been closed? What is wrong with that guy who takes an order and they’ve been closed?

Wow. I don’t even know WHERE to begin with this mess of a location and its incompetent, unprofessional and stupid staff. I went on a wednesday to order a birthday cake for my friend’s birthday. I told the girl there(who was filling in from another store) that I needed it by Friday at 1pm. Sure, should be fine(I was told). she said someone would give me a call later that day to verify it all. No call. I call on Thursday«hi, i placed an order for a birthday cake, i REALLY need it, nobody called me back, is it going to be ready or should i run someplace else to make an order?» of course, I was told it’s fine. Friday afternoon, its 12:45(mind you, 15 minutes before my cake is due to be ready and picked up for the birthday party THATNIGHT) and i find a voicemail on my phone from Chris(whoever the heck you are) saying«umm im sorry but uhh. uhh. the cake maker was sick. so uhh. we didnt make your cake. uhhh we can make one for you tomorrow? but uh. theres no cake. uhh. yeah… i don’t know» CLICK he hangs up? WTF? really, again. WTF??? «I DONTKNOW» and you hang up? THANKSFORRUININGTHEBIRTHDAYPARTYANDNOTEVENTELLINGMEUNTIL15MINUTESBEFORETHATYOUDIDNTMAKETHEDAMNCAKE. WTFSORTASERVICEISTHAT? YOUHADTWODAYSTOLETMEKNOW! I still have that voicemail. and the baskin robbins company will be hearing from me. SO to the idiot girl who took my «order» and«Chris» a big fat screw you, thanks for ruining EVERYTHING. If i was your boss i would have fired you YESTERDAY. WORSEPLACEEVEREVEREVEREVER.

The only BR around this hood, since the one on Sloat closed down. I remember coming for some fruit blast, so gross & artificially colored & flavored. Soft serves are EXPENSIVE here. They’re about $ 2.50(although the BR at Westlake still has a sign for $.88) when I can get something similar from Mickey D’s for $ 1 cheaper. Soft serves here are a bit more sweeter and vanilla-ey-er, I guess they’re a bit bigger too. But for $ 2.50 for soft serve, I’d rather splurge and get a regular ice cream from here. Today I had a scoop of Pralines n Cream. What are Pralines? I don’t have a clue, but I assume they’re the nuts… that look & sort of tasted like walnuts. It was yummy… filled with caramel, nuts swirled in vanilla ice cream. It was nice walking on a cloudy day home eating my ice cream. I wish everyday was like this but sunny. At least my ice cream didn’t melt.

I haven’t felt the desire to go to Baskin Robbins in years but I was curious about their new attempt to take on Dairy Queen by adding soft serve cones and Blizzard like concoctions. I ordered a small vanilla soft serve cone($ 2.49). You don’t get as much as DQ, it’s more expensive(DQ: $ 2.25), and it isn’t dipped in chocolate. It tastes okay — sweet, creamy ice cream on a crispy cone. This place is expensive — e.g., $ 5.89 for a small sundae, $ 5.79 for a small shake. It’s okay but overpriced. I’d much rather have fro-yo with fresh fruit for that amount of money. And I still prefer Dairy Queen. They do have a lot of options: sundaes, smoothies, fruit blasts, malts, shakes, ice cream cakes, packed quarts, ice cream, waffle cones with chocolate and sprinkles, candy. The tables are really small — meant for two people max. Credit cards accepted.

YOUPEOPLERUINEDMYBIRTHDAY. therefore, i have no qualms about this location being closed. to see the entire story, see diana r’s review. basically, we requested a disney princess cake for my birthday(i know, what am i, 5? it was MY birthday dammit) and they gave a lame excuse why they couldn’t make it even though we told them THREEDAYSINADVANCE. so screw you baskin robbins on irving. you get what you deserve.
