My go to restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food is always tasty. My favorite is the rigatoni.

Went here for a romantic anniversary dinner with my husband. The food was so good and they offered lots of gluten free options! We will definitely be back.

I figured I’d try Bacco yet again — if anything it has gotten a bit worse. The service was below average as they were understaffed, the food was just OK, and the restaurant is starting to show it’s age, with dirty menus, chipping paint and a dirty bathroom. I won’t be hurrying back.

I love Bacco! I have going there for the past 20 years. It is amazing how Sherry and Vincenzo are able to consistently deliver excellent Italian food every time. The wine list is amazing. I have learned so much about Italian wine from this restaurant. The risotto is always prepared to order, so it takes about 20 minutes. The gnocchi are also made to order with special gnocchi potatoes. If they have cannoli beans with tomato sauce, don’t miss.

Second time We’ve been here this year and they’ve run out of food on a prefixed menu again. It’s hard enough to pick from a few choices, but when they run out of dishes even then it’s irritating. On top of that having your food come out almost an hour late adds to it. And the waiter tells you they weren’t prepare for a rush on Valentine’s Day. Hmmmm. I would think that such a popular place would have been. The food was good. And our server was nice on the plus.

Wow! Food is fantastic — Sautéed Calamari appetizer light and tasty! Handmade pasta is the real thing. Nice ambiance in Noe Valley. Waitstaff friendly, competent and service was excellent, and the owner is a gem! Bacco is the place to go for delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and a wonderful experience.

The food is to die for delicious! Everything we had, the squid, the meatballs, the pasta, the drinks, the food is just amazing. The place is a bit crampy and claustrophobic for me, but nothing a little wine can’t make me forget about. Its nestled in a great little side street in Noe Valley and even though the front door is a bit strange almost came off the hinges in my husband’s hands when he went to open it, the inside of the restaurant was neat and clean(albeit VERY dark). I would DEFINITELY suggest trying BACCO. We got to meet the owner Sheri and she was a delight. She was also very sweet. Only one issue with our food the entire evening. When my husband went to have a bite of his gelato for dessert, he took a bite and ended up with a gigantic piece of plastic in this mouth. The server stated it was probably the plastic piece off of the container for the ice cream. They DIDNT even take the dessert off of the bill. Ummm… that was VERY strange.

Great dinner as usual. Food was polished and flavor could not be beat. The atmosphere is always date worthy with the exception that depending where you sit it can be loud. We usually try at least one of the listed specials. Go go go.

Great service. It felt like an authentic Italian restaurant with the service alone. The wine was delicious. We ordered one of their Chiantis. We started with the octopus(delicious), beet salad and eggplant crostini. All yummy. They brought really fresh bread for the table with a homemade pesto oil to dip in. They kept replenishing the bread without us ever asking — the way it should be :) My friends all ordered a different pasta dish and they were all so good. I wasn’t too hungry so I opted for the orange salad which was small but had so much flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back here for great pasta, wine, and service.

Top 5 Italian restaurant… been in biz for 25 yrs(I think) which for a restaurant is almost unheard of… mostly homemade pasta

Hubby and I came here for dinner on a week day. The place quickly got busy after 7pm. We ordered 1) beet orange salad, 2) squid ink pasta, 3) lasagna. And the winner was… The complimentary bread and its dip made from pesto sauce olive oil! So sad, isn’t it? The beet salad was sooooo mediocre that I can totally make a better version at home. My hubby hated the squid ink pasta. It’s so bland. And the tomato sauce didn’t go well with the taste of ink pasta. The corners of the pasta sheet on my Lasagna was burned. I don’t recall that’s an authentic approach when I tried Lasagna in Italy. I guess the chef didn’t cook the pasta sheets with enough liquid/ricotta mixture when the dish was baked in the oven. It’s such an amateur’s mistake. So what’s for the 2 stars? We did enjoy the ambient and the bread dip. Ok to bring your date to Bacco, but stay away if you and your date are serious foodies!

Some of the best Italian food I have ever had in San Francisco. Shari puts on a great dining experience with incredible food to support it. This gem is a must try. You wont regret it.

Three of us booked for the special dinner celebrating Bacco’s 23 years in Noe Valley. It was a three course meal showcasing dishes and wines from the Marche region of Italy. We had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent and the delicious wines complemented the food perfectly. Service was warm and friendly and the whole occassiosion memorable. We know from past experience that we can rely on Bacco for a good night out, but this evening was a cut above the usual. The only reason I have not awarded five stars is the the very pleasant dining room is very noisy and, although we booked several days ahead for the set menu dinner, it was 45 minutes before our first course arrived. But, overall, a great experience which we hope to repeat again soon.

We’re so lucky to have Bacco in Noe Valley. Their authentic Italian food is such a treat. I normally order food for pick-up(take-out). The Sacchetto is perhaps my favorite. It’s a unique signature dish with a pasta pillow filled with vegetables, and if you don’t love the sauce, something may be wrong with you. :) But the Rigatoni and Brasato(melting braised short rib) are also favorites as is the Barbietole(goat cheese and beet salad) for starter. Can’t recommend this place enough. I’m heading there now and my stomach is growling.

Poor service and mediocre food. I made reservations via Open Table for a Saturday night for a party of 7. We arrived on time and it appeared that they were not aware of the reservation. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. While waiting for our table, I noticed that the wait staff was unorganized. There was a lot of running around and barking of orders. Once seated, the service was just as chaotic – while the waiter came by shortly after we were seated to inform us of the specials, it was another 15 minutes before he came back to take our orders. I had to ask for the wine list, the bread and water were practically dumped on our table. My father and husband both ordered the catch of the day, and then were told that they had just ran out of it. My daughter ordered the risotto and was served brasato instead. She had to wait another 15 minutes to get her meal while the rest of us ate ours. While our table was being cleared of the antipasti dishes, one of the waitstaff toppled over my son’s glass of red wine. It was replaced promptly. The food was good – not bad. Nothing really stood out. We probably would have enjoyed it more if the service made us feel welcomed and relaxed. With all of the other dining options in Noe Valley, I don’t intend on coming back to Bacco.

Wow — there aren’t even words to describe how much I loved my dinner here. The risotto special for the night was Dungeness crab and they piled the crab gently on top of the amazing risotto. My husband had the braised short ribs over gnocchi and the gnocchi were like soft pillows. The wine list and wines were outstanding, I had a delicious sparkling rose and insolia, a sicilian white wine. We wrapped up with the flourless chocolate cake, a tiramisu and an espresso. The waiter was Italian, and added so much to the ambiance. I loved this place and will definitely return.

Came here Sunday evening ~ had great food and the ambiance was good! The only downfall was the horrible service! Waiters blatantly ignored us and didn’t tend to us once. Would only come back if these issues were fixed

I never realized that this restaurant was here until I looked up restaurant suggestions in the Noe Valley area on Unilocal. This place is only a 3 block walk from my Aunt’s house. She said that the last time she had dined at this restaurant was over 20 yrs ago. The major difference she immediately noticed upon entering the establishment was how loud the place was compared to 20 yrs ago. Apparently this use to be a very quaint and quiet restaurant. Tonight, the customers who were inside dining were all pretty loud. We kind of did have to yell across the table a couple of times during our dinner because it was difficult hearing eachother. Other than the noise level, everything else about the restaurant was pretty darn good. We started with the prosciutto with organic cantaloupe. It was soooooooo good! The cantaloupe was extremely sweet and juicy and the thin slices of prosciutto complimented it very well. For our entrees, I ordered the gnocchi with mozzarella and basil and my Aunt ordered the squid ink pasta with calamari. Both were absolutely delicious! I was a pig and finished my entire dish. My Aunt ended up bringing half of her order home because she wasn’t an oinker like me =oP And in all fairness, the portions were on the generous side. For my first time dining at this establishment, I have nothing but good things to say. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly, the buser was spot on and worked like clockwork. And the hostess was very nice and welcoming. My Aunt and I had a wonderful dinner at Bacco and I’m sure we’ll be back in the near future to try some of their other tasty dishes.

Went here a couple months back. All in all, a great experience. Some of the apps were misfires but the pastas were excellent. Great, cozy ambience and solid service. Definitely in the neighborhood gem category.

If you’re veggie, stick with the bruschetta app, go for the veggie ravioli, and skip dessert. Solid place. That simple:)

My review is based on Valentine’s Day menü. I really enjoyed Valentine’s Day here. The bread was awesome(CARBSSSSS). They served it with a pesto oil.(GETINMYMOUTH). I had a glass of white wine For app my boyfriend and I both had a lobster bisque with shimp on it. Very amazingly seasoned. For entrees my boyfriend had muscles wrapped in a sole(with cheese of sorts) and rice. Fantastic. I had a veggie pasta they made special for me with tons of mushrooms! For dessert it was a chocolate cake with white chocolate. The chef put strawberry shaped syrup in the white chocolate. $ 65/person. I would LOVE to come back for the regular menu and try the gnocchi. My favourite!

Came here in a group of 8 and we had a great time. The wine was delicious, the food was really good, and we were the last group to leave around 11 pm on a Saturday but the restaurant manager and staff didn’t make us feel unwelcome.(Granted they did start vacuuming around 10:30/10:45 pm which was a bit of a hint). For appetizers, the beet salad was decent, and the crostini(eggplant mousse, burrata, candied hazelnut) was delicious. The antipasti platter came with a tomato bruschetta, shredded crab crostini, calamari/white bean combo, prosciutto and various grilled veggies. We could probable have passed on this dish. For entrees, we loved the braised beef short ribs which came highly recommended by our server. Others really enjoyed the gnocchi as well. Overall it was a really good meal.

Lovely spot for a Sunday night candlelight date. The neighborhood is quiet and cute, the interior is spacious with some more private seating and dim lighting, and the food and service are very good. Thumbs up for the meatballs in tomato sauce, squid, squid ink pasta, filet, and dessert.

I’m a sucker for Italian places that pretend like they recognize you when you come in. This place is our go to for taking parents from out of town and they’re surprisingly kid friendly. Great, hearty pasta dishes and nice appetizers like the meatballs and calamari(not the fried kind). I’m grateful that the place is usually able to seat us this without much of a wait but a little surprised that doesn’t get more attention.

I came on a Saturday night around 8pm and the restaurant was full. They had one table left so we managed to squeeze 5 people onto one table. The complimentary bread and olive oil was surprisingly average since this place seems really upscale. The bread came cold, which I thought was a fluke, but the second batch was also cold. I ordered the lasagna and it was the best lasagna I’ve ever eaten. First, the size of it was impressive compared to my friend’s noodle dishes. Second, there were so many layers and the pasta was super soft. Most of the time, lasagna I’ve eaten tastes like it’s been over baked so the pasta has hardened, but they baked it just perfect.
