Two stars for«character». That’s about it. This hostel-like establishment is located in the heart of SF, on the outskirts of Lower Height and Downtown. If people sleeping in storefront stoops and zombie-like drug addicts freak you out, stay away. I booked a room here in last minute desperation. The guy who runs the place realized that fact and took advantage of the situation and ripped me off. According to other Unilocal reviews(which I read after the fact), you can get a weeks stay here for 100 bucks. The guy charged me 65 bucks(cash only!) which got me a tiny room with a sink, dirty mirror, a squeaky twin mattress with barely washed bed sheets and a broken smoke alarm hanging from the ceiling. I found it amusing to see the window propped open with a roll of toilet paper. I guess that’s because there wasn’t a fan on the ceiling to circulate the stuffy, musky air. I assume the toilets and showers were in a common area… I didn’t bother. Check out was at 11 but I didn’t even have to set my alarm because my neighbor had the crack rock coughs all night.
