Most authentic NY pizza and experience. Best when waiting for a fresh pie when getting slices.

The simplicity of this pizza is what makes it so delicious. I find myself craving pizza from here ²⁴⁄₇.
— I prefer to get the sicillan slice without any toppings. The sauce and cheese are just so perfectly delicious together, its pretty amazing for how simple it is.
–The pizza isnt soggy either, it has just the right bite to it.
–Deep dish is also great. Super cheezy and the crust is nice and crunchy.
–Both styles at affordable prices too and near BART.
Whenever we go to Dolores park we always stop on the way for a slice. Sometime on the way back too … (:

Arinell Pizza never disappoints. Who cares if the staff is crabby? It’s 1am on a Saturday night, Ozzie is blasting, and the pizza is fresh out of the oven. These dives are what make the Mission. Hopefully it will be around for another 40 years!

The slices are huge and are definitely NY style. Furthermore, you can get anchovies, which make this a cut above just by virtue of serving pizza the right away. It’s not the kind of place I’d order a whole pizza at, and the interior definitely is a trip back to the grime and grit of 1970s NY, but it gets four stars for being reasonably priced and tasting good while being wolfed down.

A Latino and an African walk into a pizza joint. White people get served first. End of joke. Racist place with horrible service. (And when was the last time this place passed a health inspection?)
Update: I just checked their most current health review, which you can also access here on Unilocal (from February 22, 2016). This place had 5 violations:
— Inadequately cleaned or sanitized food contact surfaces
— Unapproved or unmaintained equipment or utensils
— Moderate risk vermin infestation
— Improper food storage
— Moderate risk food holding temperature

Overall not good quality pizza. I assume it’s better than pizza hut, so that’s why people here rate it so highly.
I tried the regular and Sicilian. Both experiences wee similar.
Cheese: tasteless and rubbery. The worst part of the experience

Crust: too thin on that regular, too mushy on the Sicilian
Sauce: Not bad. A little bland

Cool New York style pizza by the slice. They serve the NY pizza and the attitude. Quick spot with very little seating. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.

I’m a fan of Arinell in Berkeley but this was my first visit to the Valencia branch. After hitting up a film festival at the nearby Roxie, I didn’t want to spend too much money especially since I was flying solo. I saw the Arinell sign and suddenly the craving for New York style pizza hit. I knew it would be cash only but I was pleased the SF prices mirror the Berkeley prices, $ 3/​slice. My Unilocal Karma kicked in again and the notorious long-​haired cashier was a prince to me. He told me the slice was already warm but that he could heat it up more. I told him it was all good. I chose a stool and settled in to enjoy my wonderful dinner. The cashier and the guy making pizza were listening to Merle Haggard; it was hard not to join the singalong with «Okie from Muskogee.»
Arinell isn’t catering to hipsters or techies. It’s dimly lit and ancient-​looking. I’m sure a new paint job would be great. But I’d like it to stay exactly as it is, a remnant of the San Francisco I love.

Came here with my Australian friends after partying in Skylark.
The pizza substandard even after being given the extra boost of being eaten while drunk. Usually that seasoning is enough to make anything and everything taste magically delicious but not in this case.
If all you are going for is satiety, no matter how unhealthy or unfulfilling, then this place will definitely be a good choice– the pizza slices were ginormous and over ample

You’re pizza is awesome and the price is great. However, one star is lost due to the jerk with the hair bun working the counter. He was rude and uncourteous. I don’t want free stuff — please just correct this guy.

just look at my uploaded picture. man i do like the pizza and I put up with the bad service all the time for a slice, but this time there was just too much attitude. i will give the pizza a 4.5 stars but the fucking owner or manager and workers should have negative stars. unfortunately they are just one of the business that regardless of their service you just keep going back. guess i wont be welcome anymore. poor me!

I will never come here again. This place is run by trashy people who start unnecessary fights with their customers. luckily I was only a bystander/​witness. If you’re petty enough to want to start a brawl with your customers over nothing, maybe you shouldn’t run a business that requires interacting with people. SMH
oh and all of this happened AFTER the guy at the counter was super rude to me so I was not surprised by their behavior at all.

If I was writing this review after ending a night of drinking in the mission with a slice of pizza, I would probably give it a four. Since I’m writing this review sober, it’ll have to be a 3.
I appreciate a non-​burrito option for late night eating and there are surprisingly few options for late night pizza in the Mission. This place certainly beats your closest options (pizza zone and escape from new york?). It’s greasy, the hygiene is questionable and I’m not even sure they have plates but they do make a solid slice of NY style pizza.
Oh and you probably guessed this, but cash only.

Service was fast, cash only, and out the door. We got fresh cheese pizza. So good. It was very flavorful and their tomato sauce was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

The best bang for your buck food in the area. Super delicious pizza, huge slices, and you can add toppings if you want. I love the mushrooms but they often come out cold which is a weird contrast to the hot pizza which is why I’m knocking off a star. Also awesome for late night!

Mission is more than just hipster boys and burritos galore, they have Arinell Pizza.
With a base price of $ 3 for a nice NY style slice and additional $.50 for each additional topping, this has a tasty yet dangerous recipe for leaving the door with just one slice.
I recommend this pizza shop and will definitely be coming back again.
This is the only location in the city. The next closest one is in Berkeley.

Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. The pizza is so thin and crispy. I haven’t had any better pizza in SF. The slices are a pretty good size. I’ve been to this pizza joint many times and the employees are always nice

3.5 stars. After a night of drinking, who doesn’t crave pizza? You can’t beat the price. Three dollars for a slice. I’m the Queen of junk food and I don’t mind eating like crap all the time. But I found my slice to be very greasy. Definitely busted out the napkins and tried to pat it dry. I was that person. The flavor was good and I’m a huge fan of thin crust. Would I come back? Most likely because it is quick and convenient if you’re drinking in the Mission. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to grab pizza from here.

Who hires these assholes? Honestly, you really have to *try* to find people this rude. More than half of the time that I order anchovies they complain or talk to themselves in full volume that they think it’s gross, etc. When I (like a normal pleasant human being) say thanks and tip them I get a rude glare back. The last time I went (and forever the last time) the guy went on a full on rant about my choice in toppings and then slammed the counter closed and left. If you don’t want to serve anchovies or don’t like your job, THEN DON’T WORK THERE YOU MORONS.

There is nowhere better to go for a quick cheap ($ 3) slice in all of San Francisco. It’s greasy. The triangles are asymmetrical. They won’t indulge in small talk and it’s all cash with nary a seat to sit at. But when you’ve had a few and don’t want to go home and don’t want to pay a fortune for food on Valencia and you’re sick of tacos, go here. THEN stumble home.

The guy at the cash register is the same guy that collects your cash payment… Then uses his dirty cash collecting fingers to grabs the pepperoni toppings and tops the pizza slices without washing his hands. Totally filthy and discusting and unsanitary. Not cool. You may catch some kind of sickness eating pizza here… wouldnt go again.

But this is some damn delicious pizza by the slice. DAMN GOOD. And I love pizza, in all forms and fashions. For $ 3 you’re out the door with a piping hot slice of cheese, 50 – 75 cents to add a limited selection of toppings. Slices come in either thin or Sicilian (deep dish). Prices include sales tax– great for that cash only, late night, possibly drunk lifestyle. The employees are funny with the perfect amount of grit and jokes alike to deal with the eclectic line of pizza seekers that is usually out the door.

Nice little place to grab a quick slice of pizza. They have two styles of pizza: a regular thickness and a thicker one. They are constantly making cheese pizzas in these two styles. Cheese slices are ready at the counter. They add the topping on top of the already made cheese pizzas and put it back in the oven to get hot and crispy. I had a classic pepperoni pizza, which I would come back for. I love the crispy crust of the pizza. The slices range from about $ 3 – 5 based on what toppings you get. There are two countertops and about 5 stools inside that you can sit on. Arinell is located a couple blocks from the 16^th and Mission BART station.

After going to New York over the summer, I’ve been craving pizza like a mad lady.
I ordered a slice of cheese, which came out to four bucks (or was it three?) The slice was pippin’ hot and I got overly excited (because pizza!).
One of my friends once told me that a pizza is not a pizza unless the cheese is stringy when you take a bite out of it (he got this from watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.)
Arinell’s pizza truly did have that string cheese moment once you take a bite. You know, the kind where it feels like there’s a never-​ending amount of cheese getting pulled from the pizza. The crust was thin but had a really nice crispy crunch to it.
Overall, the pizza here is fresh, cheap and delicious.

Listed on a «best pizza in the Bay» list, I can say, without a doubt, it’s pretty amazing! You get your choice of either deep dish or Neopolitan style and then pick any toppings you want added on. They put it together, toss it in an oven quick and out comes a pretty good sized slice for $ 3 – 5. We ordered two slices, one topping on each, and a drink and it came to under $ 10 for two of us.
They also have the option to buy a whole pie although there is no delivery service. If you want to try this delicious pizza, stop in for a quick lunch (not a lot of seating) or pick up if you live nearby!

If you’re looking for any frills, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Just don’t talk (or text) on your cell when they’re ready to take your order.
And yes, the pizza can be greasier than it should be.
But they still get props for having true grit, heart, & soul.

This is just a good east coast slice in a classic divy spot. Generally some metal on the radio.
I never get slices reheated. Its usually fresh enough and it keeps the dough from getting overcooked. Stays chewy instead of the occasional crackery
The pan slices are awfully good as well.
I wish they were open later during the week.

A friend who I totally trust food-​wise brought me here. He also lived in NYC for a few years, so when he tells me it’s the closest you can get to NY style pizza in SF, I had to try it.
Each slice is huge and only $ 3, and they heat it up for you. You can customize it and ask them to add extra toppings for you for a bit extra.
The pizza fresh out of the oven has a very thin yet crisp crust, and there’s plenty of cheese to leave those long strings as you pull the pizza away. Of course, they have extra red pepper flakes, cheese, and oregano for you to top it off. There’s very little seating, but everything about the slice was spot on, and the guy behind the counter was really nice.

I’ve been known to slay a slice or twice at this joint, and it has become my go to.
Do I care that a pair of my favorite jeans is stained with pizza grease from Arinell? Maybe. But at least it was good pizza.

I was looking for a quick pizza dinner in the mission so I chose to try this place out instead of going to my usual Delfina Pizza. Why yes, I like Delfina a lot as well, but damn, this place really gives it a run for it’s money. TBH I have to give this place cred for really knowing how to do their pizzas right. When I mean right I mean NY style, which I am quite partial to… Delfina is good, but different good and not classic NY style good, you get me?
So is this the closest thing in SF to a NY slice? Yes, yes it is. It has a CRISPY ultra-​thin crust and it is drenched in delicious olive oil. Why is it not my favorite all-​time pizza? Well, it’s not from NY of course (jk). The only thing it could use more of is a bolder flavor for the sauce and some nicer cheese (and basil). If they offered a traditional margherita slice I may be won over to say this could rank right next to the best pizza I’ve ever had (Di Fara’s in NY). But, c’est la vie, you can’t really ask much of a casual joint. For the price point, no wait, and quality of pizza… you probably have yourself a steal compared to anywhere else for pizza in the city.
I didn’t love the square Sicilian slices… I seek places that have this to compare to the best I’ve had so far (also Di Fara’s in NY of course). I have had my share of good and bad ones and this one was just mediocre. Probably wouldn’t order again, but definitely would go back for their thin slices.
So did I make the right choice to go here instead of Delfina? Yes… yes I did.

This place is pretty awesome! I had read all the Unilocal reviews saying that this was the closest thing to NY style pizza and had gotten some recommendations from friends so I had to try out this place.
I love the concept of making a huge cheese pizza and then putting toppings based on peoples preferences for slices. It makes the whole process of ordering pizza by the slice so much more efficient. I got one slice of plain cheese and one with mushrooms. I would recommend the plain cheese over getting any toppings because the mushrooms were a little cold and the plain cheese was just so much more satisfying.
This is cheap, fast, yummy and easy to pick up food in a great location! Definitely recommend it for a quick, yet tasty meal!

I dig this pizza. Quick for a slice, wait os obviously longer for full pies.
If you’re waiting after you order, head next door to Casanova and get a drink. Otherwise be prepared to get constantly squished while you wait and other patrons come in the door and squeeze you into the shallow corners. Your choice.

How many reviews have said, «this is the closest thing you’ll find to a NY slice» Let me add one more. I’ve had some pretty shitty pizza around here. Each time I’ve shed a tear missing home and missing real pizza.
As many of the experiences go, I was out late one night in the Mission and decided to grab a slice at Arinell’s, of course, reminding me of my many drunken nights in NYC. So, I paid the $ 3 and was ready to be disappointed.
BUT WAIT, I wasn’t disappointed and I actually devoured it. It was hot and burned the roof of my mouth. Thin and crispy, but no crumbling all over. Salty enough for my liking. Each component not standing out, but working harmoniously together.
Thank you for existing in this city, Arinell’s. No it’s not New York, but you’re definitely putting a wide smile in the hearts of the east coasters.

Bottom line at the top: very basic pizza that tastes chalky but the guys are really sweet.

No frills cash only spot. Came in for a quick slice of cheese as a snack. Nothing special pizza wise, but the guys that work here are super great considering how they handle dealing with all the drunk nuts.
Little star is definitely my favorite pizza in SF.

We walked in today for a quick bite, pizza was a little dry and had obviously been sitting out for a while. Some lady came in with her kid and waited for 2 slices to be warmed up, she walked out and came back in with her slice. She’d taken a few bites, but tried to get them to switch it out for a fresh slice. She said hers was dry and had been sitting out too long. The guy behind the counter refused, she had taken a few bites and he said no. She said she had been there plenty of times before was a good customer and was really disappointed in the service and angrily stormed out. She probably shouldn’t have eaten half her slice, and the guy probably should have just given her a new one. Here’s the kicker, the guy tells the other cook what happened, who then proceeded to curse this woman and her kid with a string of profanity all the while with people in the place. He came around the counter and continued yelling out the door. The pizza wasn’t any good, the place was a dump, but my profanity repertoire has at least doubled, so I thing I got my money’s worth there.
