I ordered a fruit tart cake for bf birthday. It was my first time here and omggg it was delicious!!! It looks perfect with fresh fruits on top. The tart is not too sweet like some places. I wish i ordered the nine inch tart rather than the 7 inch though. I think it was 4 – 5 bucks more for more tart.

Cakes were moist and light, but nothing special. Drove here for the fruit tart, but was disappointed by the custard(which tasted more like a vanilla pudding). Ok if you’re in the area and in need of a dessert fix but I wouldn’t make a special trip to come here.

Cute little bakery! I came here to get a cake for Mother’s Day, and the princess cake caught my eye. It didn’t look like the usual cakes I eat, so I decided to try it. There were two colors — red and green. We ordered the red one(raspberry), and my family loved it. Will definitely be back to try the other baked goods!

Ambrosia: food of the gods. Ambrosia Bakery: godly, divine, and decadent desserts. My sole purpose in life is to eat sweets. Well no, not really. I don’t have a huge sweet tooth, but when cravings surface or a whole cake is needed for a celebration or event, I can rely on Ambrosia Bakery for their delicious and beautifully presented cakes. Most recently, I tried the Ambrosia Chocolate Cake: three layers of moist chocolate cake alternated by thick chocolate fudge filling and covered with rich chocolate fudge frosting. This is a chocolate lover’s dream — rich, dense, and unbelievably delicious. Other cakes that didn’t disappoint are the tiramisu and the tricolor mousse. The small bakery is quiet, but welcomed by a friendly staff. Ambrosia also offers sandwiches, salads, pastries, and cookies, but I go straight to the desserts, which have always been superb.

Many times: when with pals in the neighborhood… have had coffee, lunch, dessert and never have understood the big attraction. Only show in town? Ambrosia is very average — there are too many great bakeries around to settle.

My first time ever ordering & trying a cake from here. The ordering process was not bad but I did have an unfortunate call experience with a male worker. Few days passed by and I decided to call again because I wanted a cake for a event and this has pretty high ratings. Anyways, the lady on the phone was super friendly, was able to help with the customized cake, and was very patience with all my questions. I did have a follow up call to ensure the cake would be ready. I was able to try the cake & it was not too sweet nor too much like other princess cakes out there. I especially liked the frosting and this is huge because I rarely eat or want any frosting with my cake. I would totally order from this bakery for future events!

Turkey Sandwich and two cookies! Where to begin, after taking two bites of the sugar laced plastic turkey sandwich, I threw it away. Strike one. French Tart Cookie that seemed to resemble a yin/yang with raspberry and apricot filling. Well, the cookie must have been a week old and the fruit filling was now the consistency of tough rubber. Strike two. The Spiral pastry was so dry and flavorless. Rancid fat in the pastry. Strike three. I’d be embarrassed if I owned a business like this.

I have fond memories of coming to Ambrosia Bakery during my good old high school days, whether it be early in the morning for a croissant, after school with friends to grab a sweet treat, or for picking up a cake for a special occasion. It’s a cute little bakery that’s been in the area for ages, and rightfully so. You can’t go wrong with one of their morning pastries, or a thick wedge of one of their delicious cakes. Everything is very reasonably priced, and it’s nice that they open so early for everyone hoping for a quick fix before work/school! Definitely worth checking out if you’re nearby!

My fiancé and I came here recently because we had to get a birthday cake for my mom. We looked online and saw variety of cakes and the cakes here look very good. I know looks can be deceiving however we won’t know until we tried. We ordered the cappuccino cake and it did not disappoint. My mom was extremely and happy and she even went for seconds! While we were there, we also ordered a slice of princess cake. I have to say the princess cake is by far the best I have ever had. This will be my new go to place for birthday cakes in the future. If you want a good cake for a decent price, come check this place out!

They have princess cake… by the slice! It was perfect! Also great tiramisu and fabulous service. It was a bit busy in the morning, but not a long wait and they gave each customer prompt and efficient service. Loved this place

It was mom’s birthday, and she doesn’t have a sweet tooth, but wanted to grab something. I thought a nice fruit tart would be great. Ambrosia has 9″ fruit tart which was $ 30. It was beautiful, but too much for only 5 people. Opted for the mini fruit tarts instead, which was perfect and less than the actual fruit tart. Mom ate her fruit tart immediately and loved it. She said it wasn’t too sweet and the crust was perfect. I actually ate the fruit tart the next day and it was still delicious!

Ordered a strawberry short cake. I felt the cake tastes like the average Asian bakery cake but the costs was about $ 10 more for the same size. My belongs to Schubert’s strawberry short cake(for this price) or just Victor’s bakery if your looking for something equivalent and cheaper.

~I love Ambrosia so much-please make your door easier to open for wheelchair users, I would really appreciate it~ ~Thank you so much for fixing the door and making it easier to press and open, it’s wonderful-I don’t know if it was my review that did it or not, but thank you so much! I will be coming back for sure!~

I’ve got to say this place is a long time family favorite! Their blueberry muffins are a must try! You got that good balance of a nicely baked muffin top with a little crispy crunch and then the rest is super moist and fresh! Ambroisa’s Strawberry Cake is always a kids favorite at family parties, the Fruit Tart is a delicious not too sweet adult favorite at my family parties and their Princess Cake is just the best! They are able to customize the fondant colors too if you request! This place is definitely a gem in SF! Must try!

We came here to get a quick bite to eat in between eye appointments. Their sandwiches are reasonably priced given the portions provided. They come with a small bag of chips as well. While the list of sandwiches is extensive and basic, they did run out of most of the meats. This could have been due to Christmas being a couple of days away. I’m not sure, though, as the meats(pastrami, roast beef, etc.) are sandwich staples. Their desserts looked delicious but we elected to pass on them and get something else that evening.

I got here early today to get some pastries and everything worked out well! Got in early to get the fresh baked pastries and that was indeed the case this morning. I walked in right after they opened and I was pleased to see the SWEETOPTIONS that they have. I had decided on getting an éclair but when I got here I had to change my mind and instead get a bearclaw! The bearclaws here are the BEST! I also got a vanilla latte. They use the Torani syrups which I like very much! Other places use the Monin syrups which are not as good. This bakery is really cozy and fits well with the rest of the other odd shops and restaurants in the area. Just another hidden treat on Ocean Ave. I will definitely have to try the sandwiches here because if they are anything like the pastries then I know I will not be disappointed.

I grew up in the city and went to high school close by(Lowell — woot!) so I am very familiar with Ambrosia. My mom always took me here when I was a kid. I loved going because it meant I got to pick out a treat. I used to always pick out a cookie if I remember correctly. Well, now I’m usually in the area because my son takes a speech therapy class close by. So prior going to our appointment, we head on over to Ambrosia for a treat. I’ll pick up an italian soda and sometimes a cookie for my sweet boy. One day, I was in line and had no idea what to order so I asked the lady who was helping me. She mentioned a few things but I didn’t seem all that excited about it. The lady next to me overheard and told me I had to try the tricolor mousse. I was hesitant but she sold me on it. So I went for it. While my boy was in speech, I devoured that tricolor mousse cake. It is one of the best individual cakes I’ve had to date! Yum. I’m dreaming of the day I can indulge in it again. If you have a sweet tooth, try it. You will not be disappointed. And if you are, give me your unwanted piece, I’ll eat it haha. Service is always friendly, the patrons are mostly local and just as friendly. I’ve had several folks stop by and say hello to my son and I while we were enjoying our meals. Definitely recommend. Love this place!

The family celebrated Mother’s Day with a homemade dinner and for dessert, we decided to try the sweets from Ambrosia. It was our first time trying their bakery goods and we ordered: Strawberry shortcake — beautifully decorated, the frosting was light and not overly sweet. Two layers of strawberries were in between the cake layers, which were very moist, fluffy and soft. It was a perfect balance of strawberries to cake. A delicious cake! Fruit tart — perfect slices of strawberries, kiwis and mangoes surrounded by large blackberries and raspberries on top of pastry cream on a buttery crust. The crust was perfect and not hard. A beautiful and tasty tart. So glad we ordered our desserts from Ambrosia. It was the first time for all of us and we were impressed.

September is a busy birthday month for me. It’s not my birthday but it seems like all the people I care about have birthdays in September! Guess I’m pretty compatible with virgos and libras! But anyway, the reason why I tried Ambrosia Bakery is because I’ve had maybe 4 cakes from Schubert’s Bakery(my usual favorite bakery) in the last two weeks. It was time for something different… something new! I stopped by this bakery on my way home today around 3:30pm. There wasn’t a wide variety of 8 inch cakes available but I didn’t know what would be good anyways. I just chose based on which cake looked prettiest to me and ended up with a Cappuccino Cake for $ 29.50. Of course, after I have them write my friend’s name on the cake, I asked what cakes they were known for. The lady told me the strawberry shortcake was good too so next time I’ll be buying that one for my next friend’s birthday… Unless she has a strawberry allergy. The cappuccino cake turned out to be delicious! Not too sweet. Everyone liked it :)
