I am not sure why I expected a bit better at the landing to get food and snacks. Alcatraz really is an all day thing so unless you bring your own something or are smart enough to go some other place with enough time to get back here for your ticket time then you are pretty much stuck. I will say though that for pretty much microwaved food and such they are not bad though pretty limited for selection. I grabbed taquitos which were not bad. I also grabbed a ginger ale and an apple for later. Now the space itself seems pretty nasty and aged.

Horrible rip off. $ 5 for a bottle of water. Complete tourist trap. Use them for their restrooms and get out.

Had tickets for the Rock in the morning and there are not too many options for breakfast in the immediate area, so I came here for a breakfast plate and a cup of Joe. They pretty much serve cafeteria food that will hold you over for the tour. I would only eat here if you have time constraints. The coffee was not bad and they also serve beer on tap.

Bottom Line: Just a place to grab a drink or snack in desperation or perhaps a touristy souvenir. The Alcatraz Landing Café is very basic and definitely makes their money on people who are starving and desperate for something to eat or board waiting for the ferry and wanting to pass time by spending money. In a town that has such amazing food, its a shame to spend money or time here so planning ahead is well worth it. If you are just waiting for your ferry to The Rock and need a drink, no sweat. This is good enough. As far as food, I’d skip it.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Didn’t have much time before our tour of Alcatraz so this was our only option for food. I ordered a grilled cheese and my friend ordered a BLT. Each was like $ 10. We both took one bite of our sandwiches and decided we couldn’t eat them. I think my grilled cheese was made with cheese whiz. I ate some of the fries. 10 minutes later I’m waiting in line for my tour and I’m about to puke. DON’T EATHERE!

I left the hotel to visit Alcatraz early in the morning. My dumbass did not get any breakfast that morning, and I was gambling at the fact there would be food at the ticketing area. Thankfully, there was. I am not sure if this is the official place to get food before boarding or not, but I know it right in front of the boat boarding area. Jump in line, pick up some bagels or sandwiches, get a drink, and pay. The food is pretty simple here– you won’t get overwhelmed by any means. The food is not of the highest quality(expect quantity over quality) — and they have microwaves going to heat up the food. I got a breakfast burrito and a large coffee– it was just under $ 10. The coffee was piping hot, I def let it cool down. It was a solid coffee(I do not drink it unless I absolutely have to). The breakfast burrito wasn’t too bad either. It was a nice size. They have seating outside as well as inside, and there is a gift shop as well. Since there is a gift shop on Alcatraz, I shopped there instead. Decent for a last ditch option. If you have extra time, there is an IHOP a few blocks away…

Perfectly good sourdough bread bowl and meh hot chocolate. Of course this is a tourist trap of a place but I will say that the price for what you get is fine. The hot chocolate is the equivalent to most gas station hot cocoa so nothing special. The clam chowder in a bread bowl was actually better than expected! The bread was hot and tasted fresh and the soup had plenty of flavor. I was decently surprised by it since I came in with REALLY low expectations. I mean it wasn’t anything to brag about, but the staff was friendly and it was a nice quick meal before going to alcatraz. 3 stars because it was just average! If you are hungry and you need a little something to tide you over before you get back to the mainland, go here. You can eat and wait for your boat ride and have the line in sight too. If you want something more quality and a better view, skip it.

Absolutely NOTHING to eat here except bagels and muffins for breakfast(if they havent run out of certain kinds) even their breakfast burritos pre-wrapped(meatless chorizo? LMFAO) I agree employees are friendly, but seriously this place is a joke, and theirs literally nothing to eat before you get on the ferry to prison. Just another basic place preying on hopeless, choiceless, desperate tourists that have no choice. Coffee not good.

Our barista Ryan was an absolute gentlemen. My girlfriend and I watched him be berated by an angry guest, both of us work in the service industry as well so we know how angry customers can be. He handled it very well and was still polite to us after the confrontation. Five stars for sure.

The only reason why this place is getting one star is the employees were friendly. Other then that, what a flipping joke. For some basic bar food and two beers(which weren’t even a pint) it was 40 dollars. I know that area of San Francisco is touristy and they trap people that way, but we were hungry and needed something before heading to the island. I am not saying the food was bad, it seemed fresh, but if you ever want to absolutely overpay for simple frozen to fryer food, then this is your place. For the cost of ONEBEER, I could have bought a 6 pack of that beer in bottles. What a joke.

As previously mentioned, many things are overpriced here and this is basically for convenience and for tourism! Got some quick breakfast and coffee before heading out to Alcatraz. I do not want to totally bash a business. The staff there were very friendly and welcoming. If you are the owner of this business, take the feedback from others to help improve your image. My suggestion, lower some prices.

Gift shop area is pretty expensive so I didn’t buy anything from there but the breakfast is good! I had a breakfast burrito and got chocolate for 10 bucks. It’s kinda pricey but there arwnt too many restaurants open before 11 around this area.

A great 7:30a discovery on a Monday at Pier 33. Strong coffee. Large hot tea selection. Lots of fresh donut and muffin options plus cinnamon buns. Big crowd served quickly with friendly staff. A lot of people(including my friend) ordered the breakfast plate ~ fresh scrambled eggs, sausage patty, turkey bacon, fresh potatoes ~ and appeared pleased by the sheer quantity of food. Comfy seating. Clean restrooms. Not a lot of food/drink options in the area and I was grateful. Overall, sort of like a happy stop at McDonald’s during a long road trip.

Okay for a quick joe before heading to Alcatraz. Not a lot of food options, but I would suggest walking a little ways to find something more appetizing. Was thinking of picking up a snack bar, but not for the inflated price they were selling it for! Definitely a pass… but did need the coffee…

Oh so tiny. You’re pushed in here after your Alcatraz tour, just like you have to go through a souvenir shop after a theme park ride. The options were ok but the layout was meh.

What this place has going for it is that it’s sort of in the middle of nowhere. No one would come to Pier 33 unless they’re going to go to Alcatraz Island, and the only way to get to Alcatraz Island is via Alcatraz Cruises on Pier 33. That said, this café more or less has a bit of a monopoly of the land close to Alcatraz cruises, and will hike up its prices accordingly. Convenient-wise, yes, this place is really close to the pier and it’ll have snacks, food, drinks, souvenirs. Is it worth it? Well, if you have feet, you can definitely walk to another pier and come back, or go to another restaurant/café. Because I was on crutches, the bf and I didn’t have too much of a choice, and we hobbled over here. The Alcatraz cruises leave every hour, so there’s more or less a line at any given time of the day. Lots of people waiting to get on cruises, lots of people that just got off the cruise. And, of course, lots of tourists. Pretty sure there was less than 0.5% of the people at Alcatraz were SF residents… Prices are sky-high. My breakfast sandwich was around $ 7, the bf’s «breakfast platter» of potatoes, eggs, and not-so-good bacon was around $ 8, and both of our bottled drinks were around $ 4 – 5. So, with tax, hitting easily $ 30. Ouch. Food was edible, but definitely not worth it. Bf did say that his potatoes were like tater tots, and it was delicious. It was probably the only item on his plate that didn’t come out of a freezer. Would definitely recommend bringing your own food in order to avoid the prices here. Service-wise, I suppose not bad. The actual souvenir store had really good service, and everyone was really polite and kind. Pretty dirty, though. Every table we could possibly try to go to was dirty. Seating is both on the left– and right-side of the building when you enter through the main entrance. Carpet could definitely use a cleaning… Warning: Lots of tourists. Lots of RUDE tourists, I should say. You’ll probably hear plenty of bad-mouthing from other tourists in other languages.

If you’re waiting for your Alcatraz tour to start, 99% chance you’ll be here at Alcatraz Landing Café It’s a great break from the cold, they have hot coffee drinkys, plus there’s a huge selection of Alcatraz touristy souvenirs T-shirts, fleeces, mugs… you know, all the normal stuff you’d expect. And their coffee drinks… I’ve had worse, I’ve had better. I was thankful for it, esp since there’s nothing else around & I wasn’t about to schlep my coffee all the way across town from my usual haunt. Hot mediocre coffee is a million times better than hot coffee that’s gone cold Is it overpriced? Of course! It’s RIGHT next to the Alcatraz ferry — what did you expect? But for being open at the crack o’ dawn & servicing eagerly waiting visitors to The Rock, have to say I think you’re A-OK

We needed something to slam dunk early in the morning before our trip to the island and at that hour you don’t have that many options. It is rediculously overpriced cafeteria food that they seemingly just nuke and serve to you 3 minutes later. I ate here because I flat refuse to eat McDonalds on a vacation. lol Maybe I acted a bit rashly. The employees were nice enough and it did serve the purpose of keeping food off my mind till we got back from the Rock. cant recommend it though, plan ahead and get something on the drive in. 2 stars
