I reached out to Abigail at a time in my life when I was going through an emotional rollercoaster due to a breakup and being unhappy with my job. I was looking for a more holistic, non-​traditional therapy to try and learn to deal better with my anxiety, something that I had never really been able to address properly before.
I appreciate the fact that traditional medication is an option for an emergency or as part of the therapy.
It’s great that we can do sessions over Skype, makes it easier to fit the therapy into one’s busy schedule.
But above all I can really see the progress one makes from one hypnosis sessions to the next; this is specially true if one listens to the recordings of the sessions when you need them.
I´ve only been working with Abigail for a few months and I can already see the impact her support is having on improving my life, I feel blessed to have found her.

I initially contacted Abigail because I was away from SF for work and read that she would see patients (even new patients) via Skype. Now we meet in person as well, and the whole experience has been very positive. Key for me is Abigail’s use of both traditional/​pharmaceutical solutions and alternative or holistic approaches (EFT, meditation, exercise). She’s suggested a lot of specific tools and techniques for me, and when a tool doesn’t «work» for me, she is ready with new ideas. Most importantly for me, Abigail takes a positive, solutions-​oriented approach; she constantly reminds me of my small steps forward and she never admonishes me for any stumbles.

5 stars is not enough, as the stars for Abigail are limitless for me! How do I say something different from what has already been said over and over? How do I convey how extremely blessed I feel that Abigail came into my life!
Nine months ago, I was at the lowest point in my life that I have ever been. I didn’t want traditional psychotherapy from my health care provider, I was looking for a more holistic, spiritual and non-​traditional therapy that HMOs don’t provide. I contacted Abigail on her services, had a phone consult to see if she fit my needs and I immediately knew she was exactly what I was looking for.
My first meeting with Abigail was amazing, she is warm, welcoming, honest and truly driven to help others! Her energy is light and contagious! I left feeling there was hope and felt that I was not alone anymore in battling some of the burdens and fears I carried within. After each session I felt empowered and gained knowledge, tools and skills to help me heal within, face life with brand new hope, courage, to know that I am not alone and the power to believe in myself again. She helped me set goals and steps to achieve them. She sends my hypnosis sessions to me so I can listen to them when I need them. I know I can count on her whenever I need her, I can text or email her my thoughts or share my experiences when I can’t wait for our next session. I have fought many battles within myself and nothing or no one has impacted my life more than Abigail.
Today I am a totally different person from the person that walked into her office 9 months ago! Just these past few months of my life have changed so dramatically! My family, friends and pretty much everyone in my life has commented and noticed the «Awakening» I am experiencing! And I couldn’t have done it without Abigail!
My recommendation for having Abigail help guide you in whatever you may need is with the highest, utmost sincerity I can give!

Five is good as it gets but applicable since a palace spa option is not possible, forgive my fancy imagination.
Okay, I am going to try and keep this short.
I found Abigail through third person, I am impressed by her aura, she has a good site, and I find her to be a very sincere person. She may accommodate clientele with a different set of tools, whether humor, experience, vivid insights or just gut feels.
She is intelligent, more importantly wise, spiritual, practices what she preaches, with a variety of accomplishments and you never know till you try so why not she has a nice atmosphere set up for you and clients are taken in as fate dictates them. I know it was meant for me. I just trusted there was something for me in it. First time doing therapy. Not at all a bad experience. Aside from being an energy healer she more importantly helps you to try in healing yourself. The online session option is a real saver as well as the particular times she was available in my life.

Abigail is an expert at getting to the root of problems and in a gentle kind way figuring what tool, out of the many skills she has mastered, will serve you best. I arrived with severe anxiety and a load of baggage to sift through. On top of the psychological issues I had a slew of physical pains too. I had a ton of pain in my heart and body and I really needed some caring thoughtful help. She is a lovely person who deeply cares about her clients and I am truly grateful for her help.

Many reviews here mirror my experiences as well. I have been seeing Abigail for a year now. Brilliant life/​wellness coach. She clearly understands topics I bring up in our sessions and efficiently gives valuable insight and tools to overcome them. She introduced me to EFT (Emotional Freedom Tapping). It may seem silly at first if you haven’t heard of it before, but I found it to be very empowering and effective. It’s refreshing to finally find a life/​wellness coach I’m on the same page with. I have made more progress with her in 1 year than I have with any other provider in 15 years. She taps into your overall health encouraging regular exercise, healthy daily habits, supplements as needed, inspirational books to read, MP3’s of your hypnosis sessions to listen to at home, and to practice EFT on your own. Appointments are available in person and video chat — super convenient. It shows she puts so much care into her work. I am truly blessed to have found her on Unilocal

I live in san jose and she is in inner sunset sf area. Thank goodness she does telepsych sessions.
The telepsych sessions are just as nice as seeing her! She really has a way of connecting and being there with you.
Not to mention it is so convenient and accommodating to my work schedule.
We are even able to do our hypnosis sessions online! I get to relax and lay in bed and not have to worry about the commute. Awesome.
It is also nice to listen to her audio recordings after our sessions because they have continued to help me tremendously through my new changes.
Her approach is non judgmental and she understands and meets you where you are. She gives you great tools to use everyday to keep you on track. If you can’t meet her at her location you can Skype! It is amazing and a blessing to get to work with her. Thank you Abigail :)

Sincere. By every stretch of the word. Abigail is very quick to follow up on any questions and will be as involved in your goals as you want her to be. She practices a healthy balance of therapy and medication. Her ease at which she discusses traditional medicine and alternative approaches is wonderful, and always allowed me to feel empowered in the process. She will partner with you on your goals, she will not dictate how to live your life. Abigail is great!

I love my sessions with Abigail she is such a positive person and gives you simple tools for helping in a situation, I could chat to her all day but she can really help with anxiety and depression. She gives you tools which is empowering. She does hypnotherapy and eft tapping which I have a hard time doing on my own. I listen to her tapes and they can be very helpful. She recommended supplements and being an RN she can do this. You do t need to see her every week, so you are not too dependent.

I can’t think of a better therapist in San Francisco. I have tried contacting many different therapists and she was ready to offer her help immediately.

I started seeing Abigail at a turning point in my life. After a difficult series of events, I knew I was ready to make some big changes. I’d been to a therapist years ago for a specific issue, but this time around I was looking for someone with a holistic approach. I wanted more than to simply talk about how I felt or to have prescriptions pushed at me I didn’t need. I wanted to go deeper and deal with the root causes of my feelings so I could fully heal and move forward.
Seeing Abigail has been a transformative experience. I’ve enjoyed her practice for several reasons:

— She gives great life advice in general and feels like a trusted friend.
If you’re thinking of booking a session, just do it! The investment in yourself and results will be worth it.

I hope not to repeat too much of the content others have posted, so I’ll start out by saying that I agree with everything said in the other numerous glowing reviews of Abigail’s service; it’s truly something unique and valuable.
Background:
A couple of years ago I had a sudden and rapid encounter with panic disorder, without an obvious triggering event. I had frequent and severe panic episodes that crippled my day to day function, often leaving me unable to come out of my apartment. I struggled at work and home, keeping what I saw as a personal failing a secret from all but my very closest friends.
In the short term I received medication from a psychiatrist at Kaiser, with mixed results. Over the course of a few months the panic episodes subsided, but I felt like a person who had changed for the worst: where I had previously felt confident and self assured, I was now filled with pulses of anxiety and a habit of avoidance. I tried 2 or 3 months each with a few psychiatrists and therapists, signed up for mindfulness courses and anxiety relief courses, and pored over dozens of targeted self help books.
A couple of years into my search, I found the practice of Abigail Carvalho on Unilocal,and read the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I thought it sounded like something different than what I had been trying with limited success, so I requested an appointment. Here are some of the things I’ve enjoyed with my experience thus far:
1) Feeling better quickly:
I came away from my first in-​person appointment feeling genuinely excited, and armed with several tools to try out starting on day 1.
2) Personal care:
Abigail works with you to find out what methods work best for YOU. Options are presented as suggestions, and if a tool isn’t working for you, there are more things to try.
3) No problem too small:
I felt that my lingering anxiety and confidence issues were not something worth someone else’s help, but Abigail makes your concerns feel important and progress feel valuable.
4) Flexible appointment options:
Abigail is available in person and via video chat, and has availability Saturdays and later hours on weekdays as well.
5) Medication available, but not pushed on you:
Unlike psychologists or therapists I’ve visited, Abigail is able to handle prescription medications. Unlike psychiatrists I’ve visited, she doesn’t rely on them as a primary treatment. It’s the perfect balance.
Months into treatment with Abigail I’m feeling much better in many aspects of my life, and feel like I’ve returned to my normal self I’ve missed the last couple years. I value this service tremendously, and hope that my review will contribute to someone else making the same decision I did to send her a message :)

Abigail truly is a wonderful therapist. The things that I appreciate the most about her practice:
–I feel as comfortable as though I’m speaking to a friend when I share about my life, of course with the added bonus that Abigail offers tools, methods and suggestions that are actually helpful! She’s not just a sympathetic listener, but a problem solver.
–I always feel as though I am in competent hands. Abigail’s holistic approach encompasses not only current research in the medical side of mental health, but also spirituality and alternative healing.
–Abigail also follows up and communicates through text message and email, which can be very helpful for those with busy lifestyles.
–In addition to recommending an array of vitamins and supplements supported by research to be beneficial for mental health, she also makes book recommendations for certain topics you might be struggling with-​really helpful for changing thought processes and reexamining spirituality.
Since I began seeing Abigail, I feel energized, healthier, and my anxiety and depression have improved greatly. More importantly, I feel much more optimistic about the direction of my life, and that there really are solutions and that change really is possible.
The hypnotherapy sessions are incredibly relaxing and motivating as well. It’s wonderful that Abigail creates mp3s that are tailored specifically to certain topics you discuss-​so helpful! All the tension I feel during daily activities in my neck and shoulders subsides when I’m under hypnosis. Thank you Abigail for all your help, and I definitely look forward to seeing you again soon!

I can’t say enough about my sessions with Abigail. She is FANTASTIC in every way!
Her space is really peaceful and clean and easily allows for you to relax and let go of your surroundings. She is the perfect balance between spiritual and practical, and most importantly she is a very sincere and genuine person who makes you feel at ease and who you can easily connect with.
I’ve had one craniosacral session with her which really blew my mind! She was able to help with some neck pain I was having in a way that many massage therapists and chiropractors have not. She is really knowledgable about what she is doing and has taught me so much about understanding your body and why we feel certain symptoms and simple techniques that make so much sense that can help!
I also was in a few group healing sessions she lead that were guided hypnotherapy meditations. These were so powerful it was hard to believe at first… but it was also so comfortable and easy that I consciously kept going with it. To this day I still remember certain important moments of my guided journey and I can go back to them at any time with the techniques she taught us.
Obviously I had to continue with the hypnotherapy sessions once we were back in San Francisco. So far I have done 2 more hypnotherapy sessions with her.
Seriously, every time I am so surprised at how easily it is to get into that super relaxed, almost floating feeling. Its amazing.
Abigail will gently guide you through your subconscious through a creative and imaginative journey. The best part for me has really been that I’ve been able to re visit those places through meditations at home that she has provided for me. I am forever grateful to her and will be visiting her often!
I truly believe in her and think everyone deserves the opportunity to try this method of therapy out.

I am very fortunate to find Abigail during a time when I feel I need to slow down in life and refocus on building the relationship I have with myself (self love), positive life goals and to have a clearer look at what I love to do in life. I have always talked about what I learned in life, but the hardest part is to take action and do it, or live it. Abigail helps by really giving me the tools to let go of the negativity I am holding inside, and bring out the person I’ve always envisioned myself to become. Our lives will always be a work in progress, and I am excited and happy to be assured that the progress will always be moving forward.

I have had one persistent and annoying phobia that has made me pretty down on myself, practically all my life. When I finally had the courage to go to Abigail and ask for help, it paid off immensely. After a single session, she helped me face my fear and opened the door for me to continue to do so on my own as well. Am I 100% cured? No, but from a scale from 1 to 10, I was living between a 6 and a 9 all my life, and now I’m down to a 3 or 4. And I’m not even close to done yet!
I went for a follow up session, a longer one, and she helped me pinpoint the root of my phobia. And it blew my mind. In a good way, I assure you. My fear is no longer crippling, and I’m confident that in the months to come it will vanish completely with my persistent work on it.
If you go into a session with Abigail with an open mind and heart, she can really jump-​start the healing process. Couldn’t recommend her more highly!

I want a ten star button. i have survived so much trauma related to mental health and medical providers — Abigail is like the person i always dreamed of working with — who is caring and brilliant — who understands an integrative approach AND helps manage the «meds» — AND has that healer’s «touch».
I always feel like life is more possible when I leave from an appointment with her.
RUN do not walk to get an appt with her — I imagine her practice is filling up very quickly.
