Today is the 2nd annual South Beach Festival or «A Taste of South Beach and Mission Bay» street fair. Sponsored by Google, SF Giants, Walgreen’s, and a few others(it makes a big difference when events are well funded). The festival is held at a little 2-block long oval-shaped park hidden from plain view, between 2nd and 3rd streets(parallel to Bryant St), named South Park(not related to the cartoon). Some SF history trivia: I believe that South Park is both the smallest and oldest park in SF. This area was informally known as SF’s Multimedia Gulch, during the dot-com era. I love this new festivals that help bring people together to enjoy a fun day. The place is like a little oasis in the middle of SOMA. On regular weekdays, this park is so peaceful and beautiful, that it feels like you were in a small town. It was a very nice day for the festival! Booths lined the streets that surround the park, featuring local shops and restaurants — 21st Amendment, Brickhouse, Frytrap, MoMo’s, Paragon, Tres Agaves, Little Skillet, Zuppa, etc. Good food and drinks! Also a couple of live rock, funk/hip-hop music bands are taking turns to play all day. Schedule: Saturday, 11am to 6pm Admission: $ 10 donation requested. Note: just FYI because it’s not mentioned in the event info, you’ll need to purchase tickets at the fair to buy food & drinks.
