Decent food, maitre D’ was, iffy. Waiter was terrific, which made up for maitre d. Prices were fair, but there are other places with food just as good. Wine list, not so good. Valet only option, you know how parking is near Woodman. Nothing special. Nothing bad.

We came here for Valentine’s Day, so I won’t complain about the $ 9 beers, but that might keep me from returning for anything other than a special occasion. We ordered the short rib pappardelle, which is the main reason for the 5 stars. Um, that was possibly the most delicious meal I have ever had in my life. The service was also perfect, the table bread was delicious, and I love that they have a patio for dining.

4 of us dined there last night. Godd service and great food, served beautifully! This was my son’s second time there and he ordered the same thing both times, chicken parmesan. His wife had seafood pasta, my husband had the salmon and I had the filet of sole… we all raved! I am eager to go back and try the chicken parmesan for myself!

This place is DELICIOUS! I went with my best friend, Natalee, and I will definitely go back again. It is a small, intimate restaurant with phenomenal waiters, wine and food. I would recommend it to anyone(:

Others in my group might also post a review, but I had to go on record. We had planned for our group New Year’s Eve dinner at La Cava. The organizer in our group had originally made a reservation for 6 people at 6:30. That was accepted. We added two more, so she called to make it a reservation for 8 people. Also accepted. We decided to bring wine, so she called to see what the corkage fee was. That means she spoke to the restaurant THREE times before we showed up at 6:30 on New Year’s Eve. We walked in and said we had a reservation for 8 at 6:30. The owner/proprietor looks at his book, shrugs and says, «I don’t have it.» We said we made a reservation over the phone, he shrugs again and says, «I don’t remember.» No concern that 8 people are standing in the doorway, believing there is a reservation for them. Unconcerned and unapologetic. Even if he believed in good faith that there was no reservation(hard to believe given that 6 of us were there by then), I would have thought a person concerned with customer service would have expressed some level of care that customers were about to be upset. He said he would see if he could accommodate us. We waited on the sidewalk for a while, after which he came out and said he could not help us. And back in he walked. No apology, no attempt to have us come back another time, just walked back in. Luckily, we found another place(Oliva) that could take us, and they were wonderful. The organizer(who was not there at the time we were turned away) called the restaurant to remind them she had spoken with them three times, and the owner/proprietor seemed to imply that he wasn’t the one she spoke with(although she remembered speaking with him at least once and it didn’t matter anyway) and that we didn’t wait long enough because he was still trying to accommodate, and he called her a few times to continue to make excuses for not having our reservation. There are at least 8 people(and anyone else I can tell) who will never attempt to go back to a place that treats potential customers so rudely. Again, even if there was a good faith mistake, he did not treat us with any kindness or understanding. I have often said that good customer service is when you feel they’re happy to have you there, and bad customer service is when they act like you’re lucky to be there. This is bad customer service.

The best part for me, was the unbelievably attentive service. dined here for a low key NYE dinner with friends. The server was friendly but to the point, as to not interrupt our dinner together. The bread brought to the table is a seasoned«Flat bread». A bottle of EVOO and balsamic vinegar are brought to the table for dipping. Pretty good, although I like less crisp bread, more fluff, you know? But still tasty nonetheless. I ordered the Ravioli in Salsa Rosa. Stuffed with spinach and ricotta, these ravioli were SO good Way over-stuffed, puts any other ravioli I’ve had to shame. Literally huge pillows of pasta wrapped filling. I got about 7 or 8 of these in a delicious sauce, just enough sauce for the dish, which is hard to find with ravioli typically. Everyone else loved their dishes too, but no need to go into that bc honestly, I don’t know the details. *shrugs* We ordered a tiramisu to share as dessert and a couple coffees. The tiramisu was decadent yet still light and fluffy. Perfectly balanced, one of the best I’ve had. The coffee was smooth and delicious; Lavazza I believe it was. The waiters were amazing at clearing the table the second we were finished and did it with such stealth. Love that. If you’re looking for a legit Italian place in the valley, try this one. Nice atmosphere as well, will try to sit on heated patio next time.

Best Italian in the Studio City/Sherman Oaks area. Hands down. Solid food. Nice atmosphere. Can’t think of another place that matches it. Get grilled calamari. A pizza. Chicken parm. Everything has been delicious. Challenge anyone on here to name a better one west of Burbank and east of the 405. Armando is an exemplary host and his staff is first rate. Happy to become a regular here.

I enjoyed the dinner here tonight, we had excellent appetizers, fish for main course, followed by a tiramisu desert. I do recommend this restaurant for dinner. The ambience was warm, and the service friendly.

This place certainly reminded me of dining in Italy. By that I mean that despite its reputation, the food was mediocre and the service was disappointing. I ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms and it was incredibly bland so after a couple bites I asked the waiter to send it back so I could get something else instead. The waiter went and got the manager, who I kindly repeated my request to. His lovely response was to roll his eyes, mutter insults in Italian under his breath, and whisk away my plate. My replacement dish was much better but the whole time I ate it I had to wonder if that douche of a manager might have spat in it. No one in my party of 4 will be returning.

Went for lunch and had one of the specials, ordered the pappardelle pasta with ground veal. So delicious, good sized portion for lunch. Staff was very attentive, kept our drink glasses full at all times. There’s paid valet parking in the bank which is what to be expected since its on Ventura Blvd. definitely going back to try other dishes.

I can’t believe I just discovered this place. I’m italian and since I moved to the U.S. I’ve been looking for a place that could give me real authentic italian food. Well, I found it! I was also glad our waiter was Italian since my english is not very good and he was speaking Italian to me. Plus the owner is Italian too so, I felt like I was in an Italian Osteria, the type I always go when I go back to visit my family that lives in Rome.

Great food. Great location. You can’t get more authentic Italian. Even our waiter was Italian. Handsome and charming. The guy with the long black hair. He was on it and made sure we had everything we needed. Even though it was a busy night too. We will be back again. And we will definitely be asking for his table!

Love, love, LOVE! We live next door, and we always passed on it for some reason. We recently went and it was so perfect! Very cozy, quaint. Service is very professional and timely. We ordered the filet and the penne Regina. Unreal! Cooked perfectly(both times we went). Their wine selection is good, too. The bread they serve as an appetizer is sort of meh, but whatever. The atmosphere is seriously perfect for a date night. It’s kind of upscale so obviously it’s pricey. But, all in all, worth it. New favorite spot(well, besides Oliva!)

Delicious food! Great ambiance. We enjoyed Spaghetti di Mare and Spaghetti with White Clam Sauce. The desserts are amazing! Pietro, our waiter is personable and professional. We will definitely return! Our parents recommended La Cava to us after enjoying a scrumptious meal, during their vacation here from Boston. One of the servers remembered them! Very nice!

1. The bread that was brought to the table was burt. I had to send it back. They redeemed themselves. 2. The broccoli was cold. I had to send it back. They redeemed themselves. 3. The polenta was mushy. Just okay. 4. My husband ordered the salmon. He said he would not rate it. It was just okay. The spinach and tomatoes were bland. 5. I was listening to a video softly on my phone with my husband and some person came over and asked me to turn it down. Their conversation was louder than the background music. What do they thing think this is a train ride in the bay area? The owner came around and greeted everyone in the restaurant but our table. Never again…

First time here. Great food and nice atmosphere. Had the chicken parmigiana and my wife had the porcini pappardelle with truffles. Both were delicious. Service was good and attentive. Corkage was $ 25 which felt a bit high, but have seen worse. Overall, this was a good meal and its walkable from where we live. We’ll be back for another Italian meal.

Very good pastas. Nice service. Lovely atmosphere. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because the portions were a TAD too small. Like it! Recommended!

Nice environment, good food, wonderful service. We like to order several dishes and share everything. When the server learned that we were going to share all dishes, they made sure that the soup was served in separate bowls and the main dish in separate plates. And unlike some of the«fancy» places, they do not charge for it.

La Cava is one of the best Authentic Italian Restaurant’s in Los Angeles. I have been in Italy on many occasions and always wanted to compare Italian food in LA with the food in Italy and La Cava was the answer. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Food is always fresh, people are always smiling and there is always something new on the menu. Highly recommended Italian Restaurant.
